B&W 600 series vs 700 series

I'm debating between following two setup for my LCR.

• BW 603 Tower + BW HTM6

• BW 707 S2 Bookshelf + BW HTM72 S2

With FS0700 S2 stands (I could go with something cheaper, but the stand matches the speaker aesthetics and look nice), 700 series option would be about 100 more than 600 series option.

I will be using a subwoofer since I'll be watching a lot of movies with the setup. Which do you think is the better choice? I kind of like the idea of having a tower for 2.0 music listening and I think they'd look cleaner than having stands. But for movie use with subwoofer, I don't know if it's worth having a tower. Between high end of 600 and low end of 700, what do you think is the better choice?

I would order both from Crutchfield and A/B them for up to 60 days.

$75/pair to return towers, $10/box to return stand mounters so maximum financial "risk" is just $75.

Well worth it for something you might keep 10 years.
spyboy and Lp85253 like this.

I think if music is important then go for the 706 or 705, the larger woofer will make a marked improvement in not just size of the music coming from the speakers and blending the subwoofer, but also look at the sensitivity of the speakers, the 707 is 84 dB vs 88 dB for the others. They’re probably doing this to get more bass from this small 707 speaker, so now your receivers working harder to drive the speakers to your listening volume. To me there’s no advantage to buying the 707s.

Having heard the 600 series, your better off with the 700 series IMO. But do what you need to in order to buy the 706s or 705s. But if you have to buy the cheaper speaker stands or hold off on the center channel a few months.... the gains are worth it! And ask for $10% off even if you’re at Best Buy.

Do you think 707 S2 isn't worth considering?

Personally - no. I’d save up more or wait on a center channel to get the better bookshelf speaker.
