agreed. a "dedicated" device for BT streaming reduces the notifications issue...but doesn't get over the BT compression issues as previously mentioned. and depending on the streaming service and/or NAS, the potential for higher SQ is easily within reach if you are streaming over WiFi via an appropriate device.

I am confused. You are recommending use the Aux-out on phone to Aux-in on the receiver or using bluetooth?

no. Music over WiFi...will allow your phone/tablet to control the stream. The stream will go directly to your streaming device. the streaming device will either analog into the amp or digital into the amp(if the amp has a digital input).

make sense?

alternately, analog out from the phone directly to the amp will also negate the BT issues.

Yamaha AVR = musicast... you went through the set up to connect the Yamaha receiver to your Wifi? ( I am assuming you are controlling from the front panel)? pull down the app to your phone/tablet...

I listened to some hi-res audio files I got from HDtracks. Speakers sounded very good. A steal at $50 each.

I might get a subwoofer. Are sealed really noticeably better for music? I had a sealed PSA on trial for a few weeks and as far as quality of sound, I could not tell a difference in it in the ported I got. I did not listen to much music though.

I will probably wait for a classified sale near me or for HSU or Rythmik or SVS to have some outlets for a good price. You ever see good deals on Rythmik L12?

I've had a couple PB12's previously. With them going for $500 at the end of the year the past few years, $375 might be a little high, unless the sub is less than 1 year old and in top shape. What's the age and condition? I think $350 would be a fair price for both parties for a newer PB12. Obviously as a buyer you want to shoot for less if possible.

The seller told me the subwoofer is out of warranty, so it is 5+ years old.

Yeah, at $50, they really are a great deal. I wish I had use for them. I already have a set of large towers, currently collecting dust in storage, waiting to be utilized somewhere again.

What amp did you end up getting to drive these Arenas?

Borrowing someone's Yamaha, forgot model. Ill get a receiver during Thankgiving. I hope to get accessories4less/other outlet Denon X1400 - X1600 for $250 or less. There is one for $290 now, so I figured during black Friday, I might find one near $200. I like Denon, woudl like to use Audyssey and might add a monitor to it later to watch stuff.

Using the serial # on the plate amp, you can contact SVS and get the exact purchase date. Does it at least have a Sledge amp? If you go back quite a few years SVS was using BASH amps for the PB12-NSD. At any rate, if it has a Sledge amp and is over 5 years old, but in good condition, $225 maybe? I would shoot for $200 if possible. I think the seller is way too high at $375 for an older PB12.

Thanks but already have four as Atmos/height speakers in theater system. You should be able to sell those easily in classified.

Thanks. I think ill pass and see if holiday sales from SVS, Hsu or Rythmik. Any other good makers make smaller subwoofers? I have a PSA but they do not make anything small.

Well the PB12 isn't exactly small, that's for sure. None of the quality 12" ported subs are small. The HSU VTF-2 and Rythmik LV12F are a little smaller than the PB12. If you want something substantially smaller, then you have to go with a sealed cabinet.

Sorry, I meant 12 inch full box (LVX12, PB-2000, L12 on sealed side), maybe 10 inch (PB-1000.) Perhaps wrong adjective for their size but that is as small as I would want.

Hsu, PSA, Rythmik and SVS are the only subwoofers I know that make quality subwoofer for the prices they charge. Any other good subwoofer companies, in that price range, to consider?

The Monolith subs are top notch. Outlaw makes a few sub models and their 12" Ultra-X12 is very similar to the HSU VTF-2.5 and still currently on sale for $579/shipped.

Anyone of you know if Accessories4Less has Black Friday sales? I found a receiver I am considering but I would not want to buy it if Accessories4Less if there is a fair chance the receivers will be discounted further then.

Are they usually sizable discounts. For example, if I am eyeing a refurbished receiver that is $499 now. If ones like it are still around Black Friday would it be something $100 or less discount for $399 or could be larger like $200 for a new price of $299? I am wondering because I wont wait if it would only be $100 or less.

Also keep an eye on the deals threads.

This one covers everything including receivers
https://www.avsforum.com/forum/122-great-found-deals/

This one is receivers, amps and the like.

Which receiver do you have your eye on? World Wide Stereo has open box and refurb also. Crutchfield has open box and scratch and dent so watch for those too.

It would be rare if it was more than $100 off
