Well, I guess these are out for any Dolby installation, as they are not monopoles.

It's a VIRTUAL channel unless stated otherwise.

Day one just wrapped. Polk put away the demo tracks, pumped up the volume and now we're blasting Yello's' Fat Cry and some DJ Shadow (Monosylabic Parts 1 & 2).

These speakers do fantastic when you turn them up "properly"

Anyone afraid these don't do bass right well... Those huge cabinets oh yeah...

With the introduction of the legend series, it seems that Polk is discontinuing the RTIA series. On their website, the 'Shop' button for the RTIAs is missing as of this evening and so is the pricing on the individual RTIA speakers missing on the website. It was there till yesterday. Is the signature series a replacement for the RTIAs?

I just contacted them last night to see if they had any replacement grilles for the RTiA3 because I knocked the upper-right corner of one while I was moving something, and it dislodged the outermost connection the silver bezel had with the rest of the grille. Hopefully they haven't just completely disowned that series just yet in terms of support.

Have you ever listened to them moved closer together so they aren't close to the side walls?

Yes I have ... in my 2 channel room. They sounded fantastic.
Now though, I have moved them into my theater where they flank the screen and set about 6 - 8 inches from the side walls with just a bit of toe-in and they are incredible for this application.

Mine definitely sound better with some more room on the sides. This new version of them look amazing. I definitely want to hear them. Out of my price range however.

Yeah I agree... there's a lot of really good speakers to be had in the 6k range.

Have you done any mods to your SDA's..?

I have read about upgrading the tweeters but they sound so good now that I haven't bothered. I have the "compact" version with the origional stands connected to a conrad-johnson amp and couldn't be happier. Also it is a second system just for analog that compliments my 5.1 "digital" system nicely.

Man I would love to hear four of these new speakers in a quad "four corners" setup sitting in the sweet spot!

Do you have any thoughts on the new port design they demonstrated in the video?

FWIW my SDA-2Bs are in their 30th year ($1400pr 1989 dollars) They've been fortunate not to need any servicing. The interconnect cable's (pin/blade) still fine, no corrosion. Only four careful moves (short distances) during that time, including one transporting them from the retailer. A few years ago I replaced the feet.

I also purchased a pair of 5 Jr Monitors at the same time in 1989. They're still going strong in the den. No repairs.

Good to see Stu's still around to help the new Polk with SDA. Cheers.

I'd definitely look into upgrading the tweeters and crossovers. You'd be amazed at the improvements this will make..!!

I have never really spent any time with a Polk speakers that utilizes the power port.
I'm looking forward to these new SDA's.

I'm really glad that Polk brought back the SDA technology so the younger generation can experience them.
The way these new SDA's have been excepted so far really proves that older technology can still hold its own in today's world...

I haven't read through this thread. I will later I'm sure. So I'm not sure if this video was posted yet. The whole thing is good. But I found the description of the bass port and the comparison to a standard big flared tube very interesting. That part starts at 15:15.

The first part talks about the SDA technology. Also great.

Like I said earlier here... its very nice to see Polk bring back the SDA technology.

There's a lot of people on these forums that I'm sure have even heard of an SDA yet along ever had the chance to listen to an SDA.
It's a wonderful sounding experience.

Thanks for the pics Mark,

I recently attended the Florida Audio Expo in Tampa. There were some incredible speakers there but for me Paradigm stole the show with their Persona demo. It was a listening experience I will not forget. Unfortunately, $25k speakers (7f) are not in my current budget. The demo setup with subs, amps, and wire was $70k. However, their older Prestige 95f are obtainable and I'm wondering how they would compare to the Polk L800? This is a significant purchase for me, I'm considering traveling to Denver for a live demo at Listen Up. I'm planning to power the pair with the Emotiva XPA2 Gen 3 and add the Rhythmik FV18 at a later date. I will run in two channel until I can get a quality sub.

P.S. I was planning on purchasing the Klipsch R7iii but after the Paradigm demo I'm mesmerized.

Thanks in advance, others opinions are welcome.

If you a fan of Klipsch sound, I can see why Paradigm Persona grabbed your attention. Maybe you can go for a smaller Persona model instead, like 3F? Especially with subs, you could go for the smaller speakers, since sound signature comes from tweeter and mids, which typically are the same among models.
