Glad to see they are offering a non Atmos version unlike the bookshelves.

Surprised they went for all that bass extension and a 4 ohm spec.

Monolith amps handle 4 ohms with ease. The bass extension was probably just a natural result of such a large cabinet and a desirably low port tune.

Did they have a sound demo with the floorstanders and center at CEDIA?

One of the things that I find attractive about this Monolith line is that they are not price gouging on the center speaker, IMO.

Lots of $2,000/pr floorstanders have matching centers that are $600-800, and often they are just 2-way designs with 5.25" drivers.

The Monolith center being a 3-way with 6.5" drivers and priced at $400 sure seems like a better value when you consider the the total cost of the front 3 speakers.

No, the sound demo used the bookshelf variant. I expect the towers simply build on what the bookshelf model offers, in terms of how they sound and perform. I reviewed the bookshelf model and knew of these towers while they were being developed; the option to get them without Atmos is at least partly attributable to feedback from this forum, so in a sense these speakers are what they are because members here spoke up.

There is no wood grain on the towers but they match the front of the Monolith sub. Here are some pics...

But that's not the point. The point is nobody can sit through all the demos at CEDIA while also visiting the booths that don't have demos... and each companies demo is different content, different levels, different audience layout.

Fact is there's more gear at the show than what's demoed. One could make CEDIA all about ratung demos but that's not what I was there to do. So deal with it, lol! Or go to the show and give out your own awards!

Silly comment ignores what these speakers bring to table but I get it, having a little "negative comment party" on the Internet is a form of entertainment that some folks can't resist! Party on!

So Mark didn't listen to the tower speakers before giving out an award. Does he have a good idea of how they sound? Yeah, he does. Is he right? - more than likely. Could he testify in court about their sound? No.

Are you interested in the speakers? If yes, buy 'em. Don't like 'em, send them back.

Mark - it is AV Science.

P.S. Mark - audition the twin 15 inch sub in your new digs during a thunderstorm. Nobody would know the difference

The included Atmos upfiring intrigues me as someone with a finished basement/ceiling.
Curious about the performance.
Will be watching these and reviews once released.

Just when I was thinking THX had gone back to its normal standards of yesteryear, we get....yet another THX certified ported tower speaker??? At least this one doesn't have a top mounted tweeter like the last one I remember did.

The port is pluggable and that's what I'd suggest to folks using these with a sub and an 80 Hz crossover.

$850 is a super competitive price point against some pretty good speakers (SVS, KEF, Martin Logan, Elac, B&W), so I'm super excited to see how these measure given how excellent Monolith has been so far.

Its great they are offering it as a with or without option. Some have mixed results with upfiring vs. a wall mount height using something like the SVS Prime Elevation. Its nice to have choices for Atmos if one does not want to cut into the ceiling. This looks like another nice offering from them.

Are you kidding me?! All these years I thought that it actually meant something to get the AVS award. This pretty much makes the endorsement meaningless. I think you are just being sarcastic; yes?

"All these years" being the two years (three shows, 2017-2019) I've been giving out Best of CEDIA awards? Cool.

I've been known to toss out a bit of sarcasm here and there. Having said that, the awards are (ultimately) given out at my discretion. So what I said is true...

I'm sorry if you think my judgment (and therefore endorsement) is meaningless; if that's the case, hopefully you at least find that I'm good at guessing.

Looks like it's Claridy Audio. The speaker's designer (Robert Wills) was there, says all the drivers are custom designed for this series. His badge said Claridy Audio on it. http://www.claridyaudio.com/
