Upgrading seems more difficult than I thought...Any Ideas?

It's been a while since I bought new speakers.
Over 10 years In fact.
Currently I have :
JBL Studio l890 mains
JBL studio lc2 center
Jbl studio l820 x4 side/rears
Svs pb1000s x2 ( replaced the matching jbl studio l 8400 subs that died last year)

Yamaha rxa2060 with emotiva Up7 amplifier

I love the 3 way design, build and sound of the jbls..and I'm having trouble finding a good "upgrade".
JBL seems like everything except what was just shown as cedia is a downgrade... The current line up is not a Studio L level line but more entry level..
I missed the Infinity reference line from a few years ago that looked promising but again is discontinued and nothing replaced it.

Speakers like elac and klipsch look and sound great...but I'm not sure it's a level up...more like a lateral move I think.

Looked at svs...they are a possibility..

I dunno...seems the old stand byes I'm used to dont have the line ups I remember back 10 years ago.
I'm especially disappointed with the current center channel line ups....Mine is a 30+lb. Beast and in its day was awesome...Most I see today are 20 ish lb 2 way units..

Polls new line looks great again from cedia...but other than that, I wasn't thrilled..

Any ideas would be welcome...Been out of the loop for a while.

Those speakers look familiar! I generally don't make speaker recommendations. However I upgraded from l890 mains, lc2 center and l880 surrounds (they have been repurposed to a music only set up) to PSA. This "good stuff" is already here because it is made in the USA The first thing I noticed with the PSAs was their clarity compared to the JBLs. Good luck with your search.

HT: PSA MTM-210T front, MTM-210C center, PSA MTM-210T surrounds, PSA MT-110 rears, Atmos / Canton, Ascend CBM-170SE, PSA V1800 , PSA V1801, Marantz SR7009 AVR & Emotiva A-100 stereo amp, Panasonic 65ST60 Plasma, Oppo BDP 93, Sony S1700, Music video: JBL L890, L880, LC2, SVS pc13-Ultra, Yamaha RX-V385, ASUS 31.5" IPS monitor, Sony S1700, Multichannel stereo: PSA MT-110, Bose 901, PSA S1510DF, Denon X1400H, Marantz SR6005

Lol...nothing particularly wrong.
Had them for 16 years...I'm excited about something different, new, and better...
The classic case of upgradeitis.
This is the longest I've owned speakers..

I've had in the past

Atlantic technology system 450THX

All Polk LSI system

All mirage m5 system

Just to name a few

Plus...looks and design I love as much as sound...
I love the design of a good looking speaker..
Shame that to get sexy styling you need to go ultra high end..

Sonas Farber...Revel...etc..

So....After all this time..I'm ready for different experiences in sound...better hopefully sound....and new look..

Oops...also forgot.
Tastes change over time..What I liked back in the day isn't necessarily what I like today.
Today..its mostly home theater with less rock music listening...or any music really..
It's all about movies now..

So dynamics, clarity of dialogue and effects are paramount.

I'm currently looking at monoprice THX system...but they currently have No rear on wall options so that's a big problem.
And I wish they had better finishes for looks.

But there you go..

If you have the coin I think JTR's would be an upgrade.

Here is the JTR thread with some comments on the capabilities of the speakers.

I am a big fan of the JBL sound.... I think Martin Logan produces a similar "softer" sound as well so if you really want to change things up try Martin Logan. You could even do the SLM XL's all around to clear up some floor space. I tried them out a few months back and loved them. Decided to use them in my bedroom set up and couldn't be happier. The folded motion tweeter is great. Don't be afraid of the small size either. The tweeter is plenty big enough and with your 2 subs doing the heavy lifting the ML's will be clear as day. Hey it never hurts to try them anyway. Typically can be had under $550 each from an authorized dealer
