Upgrading Speakers for around ~$650 Need advice

I’m planning on upgrading my current speakers and leave the AV receiver and subwoofer. My room dimensions are 17x10. I mostly use my speakers for movies and TV shows. I’m located in California and open for pre-owned or open box items.

Current system:

AV receiver: Pioneer 1123K

Subwoofer: SW-8MK2

L/R: pioneer SP-BS22

Center: SP-C22

My budget is $650 I can go up if it’s worth it. After doing some research I narrowed the speakers down to:

Chane A1.5 L/R, A2.4 center $588

Emotiva B1 L/R, C1 center $475

Ascend CBM 170L/R, 340 center $596

HSU HB-1 MK2 L/R, HC-1 center $519

These are the lowest I’ve seen them priced. If they’re listed for less somewhere else or there are discounts please lmk. If there are any other speakers I should look at please lmk I want to hear your recommendations!

The Ascends will play the loudest and with the most neutral sound.

It’s a toss up for personal sound preference though.

Leave it at 8 ohms and call it a day :)

Ascend seems to be getting a lot of praise. Can’t lie I’m leaning towards them more now

If its just the L/C/R for $650 I'd throw in the RSL CG3 line:

Either:
2x RSL CG3 @ $135 (https://rslspeakers.com/products/cg3-bookshelf-speaker/)
1x RSL CG23 @ $200 (https://rslspeakers.com/products/new...enter-channel/)
Total: $470

Or
3x RSL CG23 (they work horizontally or vertically) @ $200 (https://rslspeakers.com/products/new...enter-channel/)
Total: $600

I agree with the other posters that Ascend and Chane are also great options!

If you are in the LA area you can go listen to the HSU and Ascend's and decide.

The Chane A1.5's took over the Emotiva as the budget speaker I'm most excited about. But I haven't heard either

The Chanes are in a separate class, much higher than they are priced. But, sound is subjective. I like planar tweeters sound. YMMV

I noticed the Kef Q150 going for $330 which is a great deal. If paired with Q600C, Q200C or another Q150 as a center channel, how would it compare to the Ascend or Chane front package?

I don't think it ever really went off sale. I ordered a pair back at the end of August, and it had been on sale for a while before I pulled the trigger. It might have gone back to regular price for a day or so before going back on sale.
