Question Matching SVS ultra center with Kef Q150

Hello,

I know tonality and timbre is talked about a lot when setting up your front three speakers, but i was wondering if there is a remote chance for timbre matching between a SVS ultra centre and a pair of Kef Q150's? Thanks!

Try it and hear for yourself. It might not bother you or be noticeable enough to matter.

If you already have the SVS then give it a try, if not why not just grab a 3rd Q150 and use it as a center?

i am debating between the Kef Q650C and the SVS Ultra. I was looking at frequency response and the SVS go pretty low compared to the Kef at least on paper....

You should be using a Sub or 2 so the bass response won't matter much, I had 3 Q150s for awhile before going with 3 LS50's, they have more than enough bass to blend with subs and most people who hear a matching front 3 soundstage won't ever go back.

the Q650c have a strong response down to 60hz which at that point you'd want to cross over to a subwoofer.

When i Run my Q750/Q650C full range at night i'm always impressed with the bass performance

Now that receivers auto eq everything, timbre matching isn't as important as it used to be. Many have mismatched fronts and center with good results. And just because a set of fronts and center use the same drivers, they may sound different.

Having said that, all things being equal, it's probably best to have a matching center.
