suggestions: In-ceiling Garage speakers??

Thinking of adding 4 garage speakers in ~ 600 sq ft garage for music only. Want good value & not too much $$

In house we have pair of in-ceiling Polk RC80i for rear surround and another set-up 4 RSL C34e for Dolby Atmos. Like to hear other options that will provide solid punch.

Will drive them with an extra Yamaha AVR purchased in 1990's with ~ 80 watts per channel...

thanks

Primary set-up 5.1.4; Yamaha A2050, Paired w/Parasound P5 & ATI 522NC 2 channel amp
Revel F206 fronts & Revel M16 rears; Outlaw X12 Sub & 4 RSL C34e in-ceilings

Secondary 5.1: Denon S900W, Polk LSiM703/704C, Polk RC80i in-ceiling rears, RSL Speedwoofer 10s

Is there a room above the garage? If you're thinking of selling your house later, or have concerns yourself, you might want to check with the manufacturer that the speaker is effectively sealed and can't let through exhaust emissions.

If you don’t plan on running a sub, you’ll want something with a large woofer, like an 8” or so.

Kef, Klipsch, Revel, JBL, all make in ceilings with 8” woofers.

Leave it at 8 ohms and call it a day :)

suggestions: In-ceiling Garage speakers??

Thanks all; I have Revel speakers & their in-ceilings too expensive for garage.

Nothing but attic space & house roof above garage ceiling. Thanks on other options; and no subwoofer is planned

And the JBLs are in wall, not ceiling; footprint too large for ceiling

Primary set-up 5.1.4; Yamaha A2050, Paired w/Parasound P5 & ATI 522NC 2 channel amp
Revel F206 fronts & Revel M16 rears; Outlaw X12 Sub & 4 RSL C34e in-ceilings

For garage -- I would go with DCM -- and the price is for 4 -- they were expensive at one time, but they are being cleared out

They were in business a long time since 1974 -- the original DCM owners sold to Mitek in the late 90's -- Dan Roemer who I believe is now with XTZ or Clairdy Audio was brought in for the engineering team -- they will hold their own and more against most popular brands mentioned on the forum. Mitek sold the remaining supplies to the Ebay seller, who is a good seller, I own a set of their bookshelf speakers and know the voicing.

A short brief

The TFE630LCR 4 Pack in-ceilings are voiced for the TFE series

You may give up a little bit of punch with the 6.5 inch, but there will be only about 5 or 6 hz of bass difference -- plus the TFE 6.5 inch will be better in the mids and highs -- the TFE 6.5 inch has a better motor structure and can handle a little more power.... plus the TFE 6.5 inch is angled and has a pivoting tweeter, and has a boundary switch for bass control , and tweeter switch for level adjustment. -- it is all about what is most important to you

I would be worried about bass in a garage without subs. My move would be to go with something like my outdoor speaker, DefTech AW6500. The low end is supplemented by the passive radiator. They’re fully weather proof and sealed. So safer with cold temps, and you could throw a couple up and get massive sound (my yard sounds like a concert when barely pushing these).

Main 7.1 HT: Dali Zensor (7s, Vokal, and 1s), Emotiva E2s, HSU ULS-15 MK2, Emotiva BasX preamp/amps (MC-700, A-300, A-500)
Kid’s 5.1 HT: Dali Oberon (5s, Vokal), RSL C34Es, HSU VTF-2 MK5, Denon X2400H
7-Zone CCA/Spotify WHA: Paradigm (E-80Rs x6, P-80SM), Def Tech AW6500s, Polk MC-80, Emotiva BasX amps (A-700, A-500), FiiO D3 DACs

Why do they have to be in-ceiling? If you want to keep cost low, then look at Craigslist for used speakers. My garage setup is an older Sony receiver, two Kenwood and two KLH "mid sized" speakers probably 20 years old mounted on black MDF shelves with angle brackets. Maybe $200 all in? Sound is great. Concrete floor and bare drywall is probably not an ideal listening environment anyway.

I hear you on using older speakers; just want the clean look of in-ceiling speakers. Rather not have speakers take up space plus I have easy access to attic above garage. No room is above

GTL Sound Labs AE82 are currently at a pretty good price.

I have five pair and used them for whole house audio and Atmos.

There is always Micca < $100 each.

Not a huge Klipsch fan, concerned based on what I read on this Forum. Also, looking for good music speaker, not a background Atmos speaker

Just curious why you are not interested in using more of the RSL C34E speakers in your garage? Not enough solid punch? Too expensive?

Those have zero bass.... I’m not sure punch could even be applicable here lol.

I wouldn’t use them for anything other than Atmos effects.

Leave it at 8 ohms and call it a day :)

The better solution would be the RSL Outsider II. 7" woofer, self-contained with integral bracket so no cutting into the garage ceiling. If you go with the 34s, you will need to find a sub to augment their sound.

It's a VIRTUAL channel unless stated otherwise.

I’d actually prefer something like that DCM 8” or another 8” in ceiling which would use the ceiling as a baffle and enclosure allowing much more bass

suggestions: In-ceiling Garage speakers??

Yes, the RSLs are too expensive for my garage, they are $250 a pair so $500.

Like to keep under $250 for 2 pairs. The DCMs are on clear out prices on eBay. But want something that has decent punch with no subwoofer; thanks

PS; just looked on the RSL site for the Outsider II speakers at $199 pair, seems interesting & solid speaker. Something else to consider.. thx for alert

Let me know if you can find or find something better than the former DCM TFE in-ceiling speakers, that use to list for $299 each, that also have an angled baffle and pivoting tweeter, plus a boundary switch for bass control, plus a treble adjust switch-- 4 speakers for $195 .... your call

I hear you on DCM and I am considering them. But just because they listed for $299 each doesn’t mean they were worth it. Like to compare them vs. the RSLs or even Polk RC80is that I have
