Are you just looking for surround speakers? Are you setting up a different system? Upgrading from current?

Your setup looks very respectable!

If you're keen on the Polk RTiA9s, then perhaps the A3s or A1s?

A better center like this matching CSi A6 would provide a more cohesive soundstage. For surround, a pair of inexpensive RTI-A1's would do the trick. Getting Both would be within budget.

Based on the pass, it looks like you want surround speakers -- this will work and save you some money -- and will have some really good sound, and good off-axis response

DCM TFE60 -- be careful, because you could really end up liking them ... with the exception of the bass in the Polk towers, I like them better than both the Polk and JBL

My apologies, I mean what settings do you have for the A9s if you don't think you're getting 100% out of them?

Are they set to large/full band? small? crossover settings?

What settings do you have for your subwoofer as well?

That receiver should be fine as long as you're not listening at ear-bleeding volume levels.

Typical Best Buy sleazebag who's just chasing a sales commission!

There's nothing wrong with the 2600, that's one of Yamaha's upper tier receivers. IF it really is not just a matter of changing your settings (you should make sure the Front L/R Polks are set on "small" since you already have a very good sub doing the low end, this will greatly reduce the amount of power they need from your receiver), then all you need to do is add an inexpensive external amp to your 2600 to power them. I am pretty sure the 2600 has pre-outs.

~ Are you a "geek hobbyist" obsessed with squeezing out that last 5-10% improvement? The economy will thank you...especially the Chinese one. Or are you more of a get-set-and-forget "casual user" who simply wants to increase your enjoyment of movies, TV and gaming? Relax, HT isn't rocket science, nor does it have to cost an arm and a leg---especially if you ignore the aforementioned vocal minority. And remember to smile...it's just a silly hobby, after all. :)

Not sure of the settings menu in that particular AVR, but settings you can start with (and it may take some rummaging around the settings menu on your part to find):

First, set your speakers to "Small"

Once you've done that, the set-it-and-forget-it crossover settings for your A9s could be 80Hz, but you can probably go as low as 60Hz. Your centre speaker (if you have one?) is typically set 80-100Hz, surrounds are typically set 100-120Hz.
The subwoofer LFE/LPF setting in the AVR is typically set to 120Hz. On the subwoofer itself, turn the Frequency knob all the way to the max. Phase is fine to keep at 0 or 180 degrees if you have the one sub. There's probably a bunch of other things on the back of the Rythmik sub I am not familiar with, so if you had a list of those options, that'd be helpful.

If that AVR has some kind of room calibration, run that as well.

Without knowing how to navigate the menu, I can't tell you. It's somewhere in the settings menu is about all I can say, which I know isn't very useful.

That AVR also has YPAO, so run the calibration software. It should have come with a mic, which you place at ear level in the main listening position.

It could be an easy to correct placement/setup issue. A few pictures of the room and how the speakers are configured would be extremely helpful for us. We could make suggestions for improvement if necessary once we know what you've got going on.

Someone that owns a Yamaha will chime in to give you more specific instructions, but you'll typically find that in the speakers menu under configuration.

Surround speakers mostly provide ambient sounds and background music. That's the perfect place to save money by getting used speakers for $20-30 from the pawn shop or even Craigslist/ebay.
