"At the end of the session, Peter played a piece by a Russian pianist (the name escapes me). If there were a moment where many of the qualities of the Chronosonic XVX were on display, this was it. The dynamic reproduction of her performance on the Steinway was absolutely stunning. You were even able to hear the difference in strength she used to hit each note. Alongside delicacy and beautiful tonal fluttering – it was played beautifully on the Chronosonic XVX."

Really??

I don't think he truly understands what dynamics really are. Especially when they can be heard through 2 paper cups joined together by a string, let alone a $300K+ pair of speakers. (I personally think this diserved 2 eyerolls....Oh, "F" it! Here are 2 more!!)

LOL, guy sounds like an English Literature major and struggling writer, supplementing his barista income by writing flowery BS copy for "audiophile" consumption.

~ Are you a "geek hobbyist" obsessed with squeezing out that last 5-10% improvement? The economy will thank you...especially the Chinese one. Or are you more of a get-set-and-forget "casual user" who simply wants to increase your enjoyment of movies, TV and gaming? Relax, HT isn't rocket science, nor does it have to cost an arm and a leg---especially if you ignore the aforementioned vocal minority. And remember to smile...it's just a silly hobby, after all. :)

My fave is dolts like this who are constantly surprised 'affordable' gear can sound good.

Surely that's a constant admission expensive gear is over-priced?

LOL I got a kick out of the satin-wrapped speaker cables in one of the photos.

Wilson Audio's speakers are marvelous. I think this thread was made to hate upon the speakers (or so it seems from the posts). But just because you can't afford something doesn't mean you need to hate upon it. And I can't afford these either, but my local speaker dealer also stocks Wilson Audio and I had a listen on Wilson Audio some months back, I didn't audition this model but the Wilson Audio Sasha's which is lower priced than this model but still quite expensive. I own and I have bought B&W 800 Diamond series speakers from the same dealer previously. And those B&W's cost more than 10000 dollars for the front pair.

What can i say? I WOULD NEED TO BE BLUNTLY LYING IF I WERE TO SAY THAT MY B&W 800 DIAMOND SERIES FLOORSTANDERS COME CLOSE TO WILSON AUDIO IN MUSIC REPRODUCTION. Because they don't . The WA Sasha's were the the most real 2 channel music reproduction I have heard ever. And to distinguish what the Wilson Audio's do better than the B&W's, they do what I call the 'disappearing act'. What that means is.. on the B&W's the sound appears to be coming from a wooden box, on the Wilson Audio's close your eyes and it feels like the percussion instruments, the guitar strings, the piano keys are moving in the air towards your ears, never do you feel that sound is coming from a wooden enclosure in front of you. They sound REAL. Close to a live music concert than to a music recording being played.

I would some day also like to hear the WA Alexandria which is one of their premium models, it goes for around 500,000 dollars. And seeing how impressed I was by Wilson Audio, my friend has recommended me that I hear Meridian speakers too, I'm currently trying to locate a dealer that stocks Meridian. I also want to demo the Marten Coltrane speakers because I hear from people that use/heard them that they are truly exceptional. A UK reviewer on youtube did a side by side demo of the Marten Bird 2's (which are one step down in series compared to the Coltrane) and the B&W 800 D3 (the highest 800 series model) and it was clear the Marten Bird 2's were beeating the B&W 800 D3. Hey if I was really rich, i would've loved to own them all, the wilsons ,the martens and the meridians.

I didn't post the review to "hate" on the speakers. One of my most amazing audio experiences was a a pair of Wilson speakers. I posted the review because of the excessively colorful and totally incoherent language and phraseology of it.

Quote:
"That’s because whatI value most is a more organic midrange. For me, it’s more emotionally engaging when the voices have more blood flowing through them."

What is an "organic midrange"? Does that mean the trees used to make the paper for the cones were grown organically? "Blood flowing through the voices?" Sounds like a ruptured aortic aneurysm.

The review contains bunches of such nonsense. I thought the review was entertaining, and that's why I posted it.

OTOH, Dr. Toole would tell us that the spinorama is the predominant factor to tell us whether 99.5% of listeners will prefer the speakers. The review didn't contain any measurements of any kind. I thought that was highly unusual from a guy who says he's an "electrical engineer."

I’ve heard a lot of WA speakers and the B&Ws and neither have been great. There’s way better speakers at those prices

True and every speaker is technically overpriced; but WAs cheapest Duette S2 speaker cost over half of Dynaudios most expensive speaker Confidence 60 talk about “waaaay overpriced”

$800/pair for a 5.25" bookshelf does seem pricey.

Mind you the 6.5" version is only $100 more.

Emit M10 listening window is not that bad but not as good as the Ascend 170 at $330/piar.
