Wilson Audio's speakers are marvelous. I think this thread was made to hate upon the speakers (or so it seems from the posts). But just because you can't afford something doesn't mean you need to hate upon it. And I can't afford these either, but my local speaker dealer also stocks Wilson Audio and I had a listen on Wilson Audio some months back, I didn't audition this model but the Wilson Audio Sasha's which is lower priced than this model but still quite expensive. I own and I have bought B&W 800 Diamond series speakers from the same dealer previously. And those B&W's cost more than 10000 dollars for the front pair.
What can i say? I WOULD NEED TO BE BLUNTLY LYING IF I WERE TO SAY THAT MY B&W 800 DIAMOND SERIES FLOORSTANDERS COME CLOSE TO WILSON AUDIO IN MUSIC REPRODUCTION. Because they don't . The WA Sasha's were the the most real 2 channel music reproduction I have heard ever. And to distinguish what the Wilson Audio's do better than the B&W's, they do what I call the 'disappearing act'. What that means is.. on the B&W's the sound appears to be coming from a wooden box, on the Wilson Audio's close your eyes and it feels like the percussion instruments, the guitar strings, the piano keys are moving in the air towards your ears, never do you feel that sound is coming from a wooden enclosure in front of you. They sound REAL. Close to a live music concert than to a music recording being played.
I would some day also like to hear the WA Alexandria which is one of their premium models, it goes for around 500,000 dollars. And seeing how impressed I was by Wilson Audio, my friend has recommended me that I hear Meridian speakers too, I'm currently trying to locate a dealer that stocks Meridian. I also want to demo the Marten Coltrane speakers because I hear from people that use/heard them that they are truly exceptional. A UK reviewer on youtube did a side by side demo of the Marten Bird 2's (which are one step down in series compared to the Coltrane) and the B&W 800 D3 (the highest 800 series model) and it was clear the Marten Bird 2's were beeating the B&W 800 D3. Hey if I was really rich, i would've loved to own them all, the wilsons ,the martens and the meridians.
