Red face Dolby atmos

SInce I moved to an apartment after having my Atmos set-up in my ceiling, I was wondering if any of you audiophiles could recommend the upward firing Dolby Atmos Speaks available? Thankxs

IME up firing speakers don't work very good. You could use front height position as close to the ceiling as you can. A speaker like the SVS Prime elevation works well.

I can't speak for anyone else and their ceiling speaker setups but my Pioneer SP-T22A-LR upfiring speakers sound FANTASTIC! I hear sound all around and above me... very close to a 360 degree soundstage. Take that with a grain of salt.

You could try these NHTs, $100 each and easily returnable if you don't like them:
https://www.amazon.com/NHT-Atmos-Min...5138322&sr=8-2

Or if you're looking for a normal speaker WITH built in upfiring Atmos module, these Pioneer Elites are priced right and have a good rep:
https://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-SP-EB.../dp/B00MQEE4M8

~ Are you a "geek hobbyist" obsessed with squeezing out that last 5-10% improvement? The economy will thank you...especially the Chinese one. Or are you more of a get-set-and-forget "casual user" who simply wants to increase your enjoyment of movies, TV and gaming? Relax, HT isn't rocket science, nor does it have to cost an arm and a leg---especially if you ignore the aforementioned vocal minority. And remember to smile...it's just a silly hobby, after all. :)

An heretical suggestion:

Forget the height speakers. Get a receiver that supports DTS Virtual:X and/or the Dolby equivalent.

Up-firing speakers are generally not preferred, but you can see here that some have had success with them. Depends on your environment. You need to achieve the proper bounce angles and have the right kind of ceiling for it. If you can do that, I'd at least try it - buy something you can return if it is not satisfactory - and I'm going to wager it will not be as satisfactory as your previous in-ceiling arrangement - but I could easily be wrong.

DTS Virtual:X doesn't need height speakers. That was the point. https://dts.com/virtualx (DTS propaganda. )
