Makes me wonder why they made that choice for the yellow. My wife thinks there funky looking. Won’t matter because they won’t be going in our living room anyway, but I’m sure quite a few other wives might not dig the yellow as well

The yellow woofer is not my favorite color, but I was not going to let it stop me, because they really do sound good, and even an ugly duck can swim and quack. ... However, if it is going to trouble you and distract you from enjoying some good speakers at a great price, then best not to buy them.

I was just questioning it from a marketing standpoint. I’m probably gonna order a pair regardless. Curiosity is killing me, lol.

Yeah. I’ve been eyeballing those myself for a while. Every time my wife notices I’m playing with my phone, she says “ how much do they cost this time”? Lol

Nice. Good luck. In my town in Michigan nothing good ever comes up for some reason . I check Craig’s list and other sites daily, but can never find anything decent. It’s usually Sony or old cerwin Vegas it seems like. Always read about other people finding good used deals, but the nearest big city is Detroit 3 hours away. They always have all kinds of good stuff on C.L. There.

Thanks it's a website i haven't used before.. It could be total bs but I'm going to try to land them if i can .. There so cheap i don't even care about listening to them.. I'm just gonna grab em at the asking price...edit.. Craigslist sux here too... At least for audio systems... I think there are some Craigslist "retailers" that buy up everything that's listed at a good price then turn around and Jack the price. . It's the way of the big city...

Sorry to derail the topic a bit, I read about people finding gems at goodwill and such. I used to go every Tuesday, when they put the new stuff out. It was never anything but old jvc boom boxes or CD players that the drawer is busted off. Lol. Like on eBay Seattle good will sells all kinds of good stuff. Some of the stuff they sell, I can’t believe someone just gave it away. It is for charity, so maybe more generous people out there. Lol

Yeah on eBay, Seattle good will have older hsu subs, infinity and jbl speakers and all kinds of stuff. Of course it’s not that good of a deal after bidding on eBay. But still crazy the kind of stuff they are selling that was donated to them. Stuff I can’t even find for sale in my town, gets donated there. Lol

Well, just ordered a pair. See if I dig them more than my hsu hc1’s. If not, then guess my daughter and her boyfriend got a new set of decent speakers. There using some old Sony’s now. So for the price, win either way. Just wish they had the black. Guess if I keep em they will match the other dcm’s I’m using for surrounds

Yeah, for the low cost, they make a nice give-away set of speakers, even if they don't supplant one's current speakers. That is why I bought them. Risk was low and they turned out to be very good for $250/pair. I look forward to setting them up for one of my kids when they get their own place someday.

I see some aesthetic differences, but what’s the difference between the tfe’s and the TP 260 towers? I’m assuming the tfe’s are the better speaker?

The TFE series has a different/larger tweeter, the TFE floorstander midrange is in a sealed enclosure per the manual (the TP series manual does not mention this), the TFE series woofer has a different dust cap (not sure if the woofer is different/better in other ways), and the TFE have a slot port vs. round port (not sure if the slot port is better).

Owning both the TFE100 floorstander and TP160S standmount, the TFE100 has better highs (more natural and resolving), IMO. So, for that reason alone I would go with TFE over TP. Plus, the TFE100 actually costs a little less than the TP260.

Yeah, the TFE tweeter is definitely different and better, IMO.

Not sure about the yellow midrange. From the front, it looks identical to the one in the TP series. Also, other than the dust cap, not sure if there are any other differences in the black glass fiber woofers used in the floorstanders.

Guess there sold out of the tfe centers. I have a ascend cmt 340 now, but for the price I figured might as well grab the center too in case I do end up liking the tfe100’s. But no luck. I thought those would be available for a while. I guess avs helped that guy sell a lot of his stock. Lol

Guess there sold out of the tfe centers. I have a ascend cmt 340 now, but for the price I figured might as well grab the center too in case I do end up liking the tfe100’s. But no luck. I thought those would be available for a while. I guess avs helped that guy sell a lot of his stock. Lol
i have the cbm 170's so i know that the 340's are pretty great , don't feel bad

Yeah, the only reason I was even considering the center was just for aesthetic reasons. Being the dcm’s have the wood veneer, and the ascend is black. But I’m sure I can get past it if I like the way they sound

100% agree... You can always worry about matching when you find your forever speakers...

Well got my tfe100’s today and not going so good. When unboxing I could hear something loose inside of both speakers. The one speaker when I was moving it something heavy fell to the bottom of the speaker, but that one is at least partially working, I get sound. The other one had something smaller rolling around inside, and now it sounds like a pair of headphones playing from across the room. Part of me just wants to open them up and see what came lose. But if I do that and something is broken, then the guy probably won’t take them back because I tampered with them. Guess I better start with the email. This is gonna be a pain. Never had to deal with defective speakers before. This sucks. Lol

Mercy, best not to touch them -- some rough handling in shipping
