Are they from Priced Right Sales?

If so, I hope/think they will take care of you.

I hear ya. PITA.

With all the extra corner protection and banding Priced Right Sales added to the TFE100 boxes (I assume yours too), it's obvious they were trying to protect them, so they really seem to care, and will do you right, I believe.

Hope so. They actually look better than I figured they would. I thought that yellow might bother me, and the cherry isn’t all that bad . The cherry on the the tfe is a bit darker than the tp speakers. At least on the ones I got. The darker cherry looks better in my opinion

Just waiting to get a reply email. Will update once I hear something. But you should probably be fine. Because I can’t imagine me being unlucky enough to get two defective speakers. So I’m pretty sure someone at FedEx was tossing them around the truck like a nerf ball. First time I’ve ever had an issue with something damaged in shipping

Yeah for some reason FedEx hands the box over to CanPar (smaller Canadian transportation company which i actually worked for 2 years many years ago!! and they handled packages like [email protected] )

Please report back on what you find. Sucks that you need to do this, but part replacement is the route I would have probably gone too, assuming you find obvious assignable cause in each speaker.

If the problem is in the crossover (which I have personally experienced from a poorly packaged used speaker), is takes more detective work determine root cause (I fixed the issue by re-doing a couple solder joints)

Maybe they should/will give you a decent rebate for this.

Ok, got them open. The one speaker has a large resistor flopping around that came unglued from the side of the box. That one still works though. Can probably get it glued back down. Now the other one, the crossover board is cracked in half and a piece of it is what was rattling in the box. So hopefully they have a board on hand

"Large resistor flopping around that came unglued" - LOL, what does that mean? I can't envision that. A resistor from the crossover?

And on the other - a crossover board cracked in half! Wow, that took some force!

Make sure that resistor is still connected at both ends, as you did mention that the speaker partially worked

Not from the crossover. This is just glued to the side of the box on the other speaker. It’s about the size of a c battery. Yeah, I have no idea how a crossover could break in half. It’s attached to the speaker terminal. That I’m kinda thinking might have happened when they were assembling the speaker. It’s kinda a tight fit getting it on the back of the box. Also surprised me a bit that there is no dampening material inside the box at all

Do both L/R speakers have that resistor, and are both speakers without dampening material? Also is the yellow midrange in a separate compartment?

Yeah, both have that resistor. On the one with the broken crossover, it’s glued to the side of the box. On the speaker that works, it’s just hanging by the speaker wires, not attached to anything. No dampening material in either one. I don’t think there’s a separate compartment for the midrange. I’ll have to double check though if they send me a new crossover . Already put the terminals back on for the time being.

What is that resistor connected to? If to nothing, seems like it is an extra part that got stuck there by accident, which would be very odd.

Does only one speaker have it?

Sorry. Didn’t explain it correctly. The resistor has one wire going to the crossover, and another to one of the drivers. Couldn’t tell which one though can’t pull the terminal out to far because the wires are still connected, so can’t really get a good look. Didn’t want to unhook the wires until I have the new crossover. Don’t want to lose track of what wire goes where

Is that really a resistor or a coil, it may be there for the roll-off of the woofer, that black woofer does not play real high -- my guess is that the yellow woofer/mid is in some type of compartment, and will have some dampening material with it.

I would just ask them to send you the entire new crossover. Who knows if there's a hairline crack on the board that you can't see that could eventually fail in the future.

Yeah. Not sure, whatever it is , it’s wrapped in black plastic and a little smaller than a c size battery. Have to gorilla glue it back in place

Yeah. When I replace the crossover, I will for sure. That is if they have spare ones, he hasn’t gotten back to me yet

That speaks to me of a big coil inductor for woofer roll-off .... thanks

It must be going to the tweeter. You don't want to put a series resistor on a woofer. It sounds to me like the resistor is an add-on going to the positive tweeter terminal in order to voice the highs down a little--just like I added a resistor (albeit a parallel one) to the monitor. Either they were getting complaints or they thought the speaker was too bright and took the course of least resistance. Or most.

Either they were getting complaints or they thought the speaker was too bright and took the course of least resistance. Or most.
Well whatever it is, it’s got a little weight to it. When I flipped the speaker over when unboxing and thud it made smacking on the inside of the box, I thought “ did one of the magnets break off the driver? What the heck was that” lol

Ok he got back to me and there sending a new speaker terminal with the crossover fixed to it. Probably should of asked for 2 with the weight of the resistor or coil hanging off the crossover. But hopefully be up and running around Xmas. I wasn’t supposed to open them till then anyway. Lol. Covered my tracks though. Told my wife as soon as I moved the box I heard something banging around inside, so I had to open them.

Well my friend who got the last TFE60c in Canada (not the regular seller) got screwed!

does anyone know where we could get a replacement tweeter?

*note: my friend received it with 5 of the screws missing, so the seller definitely tampered with it

That sucks. Best shot is probably asking priced right sales if they will sell one. They came up with a extra crossover to send me. So rather than paying to ship my defective speakers back and then paying shipping again for the replacement, might of broke into a new speaker. Cause either way they end up with a defective speaker, but don’t have to eat the shipping by just giving me the crossover. So if that’s the case, they have a extra speaker minus the crossover. I’d imagine the center and towers use the same tweeter
