Surround Speaker Placement Question for Atmos

Hey all,

Plotting out my speaker upgrade path and I’ve got a technical question on placement. I’m currently running an Atmos 7.1.4 setup with my side and rear surrounds mounted with the tweeters about 8 inches above my ears. I’d had them mounted that way pre-Atmos and never changed them, partially because I liked the slightly distanced/diffused effect of the placement.

I’m currently using direct radiating for the sides, and bi-pole for the rear. For those with smallish (12x15) rooms, do you prefer bi-pole mounted at ear height, direct radiating mounted above the ear, or direct radiating mounted at ear level?

I’m happy enough with the localization with my current setup, so I’m mainly looking to improve overall clarity from my surrounds, as my existing Polk FXI and RTI surrounds don’t quite measure up to my Martin Logan fronts.
