Speakers <$1k for 2.1 Vinyl Setup

Guys, I’ve been researching up and down, yet here I am.
Looking for bookshelves or towers under $1k to finish out my 2 channel vinyl setup.
Gear
Peachtree Musicbox acting as pre-pro (includes tube stage)
Emotiva a-300 amp 2x150amps into 8 ohms
HK 8” sub as token bass supplement
Fluance turntable

Am considering:
KEF LS-50 On sale $900/pr
Martin Logan Motion 20 On sale $499ea
KEF Q350 $700/pr
Anything suggested here
ELAC however not impressed with finish

Room is slightly open 12’ deep by 18’ wide. Carpet and 7’ ceilings
I listen to primarily alt rock trending heavy with some classic rock mixed in. Think Elton John and Queen at the softer side through Tool at the heavier end.

Super excited guys so please throw me your suggestions!

Revel M16’s, Ascend Sierra 1’s, Chane A1.5 or A2.4’s, Ascend CBM170’s or CMT340’s, Emotiva B1’s.

Everything but the Sierra 1’s and Revel M16’s leaves enough money for a Speedwoofer 10S or SVS SB12-NSD which would probably give the greatest overall SQ when combined with any of those speakers.

Leave it at 8 ohms and call it a day :)

Emotiva T-Zero towers, $400/pr === basically the price of a good pair of bookshelves but you don't have to buy a pair of stands while getting a second 5.25" woofer for extra headroom/dynamics

RSL Speedwoofer 10s sub, $400 w/free return shipping

~ Are you a "geek hobbyist" obsessed with squeezing out that last 5-10% improvement? The economy will thank you...especially the Chinese one. Or are you more of a get-set-and-forget "casual user" who simply wants to increase your enjoyment of movies, TV and gaming? Relax, HT isn't rocket science, nor does it have to cost an arm and a leg---especially if you ignore the aforementioned vocal minority. And remember to smile...it's just a silly hobby, after all. :)

That very similar to what I listen to. KEF LS50's have very good resolution with incredible detail, but lean towards the bright side of neutral. The brightness can be toned down with a warmer amp such as Marantz.

Kef LS50,Q200C, Q100, Kef Kube 10B (X2) , Denon AVR-X3400H, Panasonic 50" Plasma, Xbox One.
Bedroom: Kef Q100 ,JBL Loft 20, SVS SB-2000, Denon AVR-S710W, PS3, 32" Insigna LED.

Martin Logan 35XTs, far better measurements than the Motion series, has the larger AMT than the Motion series, no need for towers as you have a sub, beautiful in Black Cherrywood, $10/box returns within 60 days at Crutchfield if not happy.

Thanks for the feedback guys!
Chane 2.4 have caught my eye. What is the verdict on the finish?
The ML 35xt are now on the shortlist. Any direct comps with the LS50 given similar price range?

Will take a look at all the other options as well when I get a chance.

Updated list for consideration, your opinions are encouraged!

HSU CCB-8
RSL CG5
Emotiva T1 and T-Zero. Assuming I add a new sub any reason not to simply snag the cheaper T-Zeros?
KEF LS50
ML 35Xt

Currently omitted due to aesthetic concerns
Chane 2.4
Elac
Ascend CMT-340. Anybody have any first hand comments on aesthetics for these?

Chane 2.4: Vinyl wrap with a wood grain. Similar to ELAC Debut 2.0 speakers, which I have.

NHT C3 should be on your list. This speaker is a slight redo (cabinet only) of the excellent NHT Classic 3. They have a beautiful black lacquer finish and I think they are also available in white.

$375 each on Amazon.

Elac Debut Reference has a much nicer finish than their normal Debuts. Or, the European look painted Uni-Fi's as you should have an amp that can run them.

Thanks for the feedback one and all!

I have ordered a pair of RSL CG 25 along with the Speedwoofer 10s for a sale price of $1249. No sales tax has been billed (WA).

With RSL generous trial terms, this is a no risk transaction as the cover shipping both ways for 30 days.

Will update once received and setup.
Still interested in thoughts and opinions.

For $850-ish those CG25's had better be really good because you can get a lot of very nice bookshelf speakers in that price range.

Well everything I had read up to this point was extremely encouraging, and as mentioned this is a risk free trial. The HSU CCB-8 were in serious consideration, but the 2 way shipping charges simply makes it a painful experiment should they fail. If the CG25s or comps don’t live up to expectations I will probably be grabbing the HSUs or Airmotivs.

I will likely select a second pair of speakers to compare against, either ML’s or similar from Crutchfield with their favorable return policy or possibly KEFs or Elac Debut Reference (per your recommendation) via Amazon.

Used to own them, they are not fugly just plain/utilitarian looking. Much improved if using with nicer looking stands, see pic. Unfortunately the Ascend website's clinical all-white background photos don't do them any favors. (Hopefully when they finally update that website it will have nicer photos.)

Appreciate this thanks Zorba. Are they vinyl wrapped? They definitely look fine in the pics you posted. Just trying to step the aesthetics up along with the sq of course if I’m dropping what to me is a good chunk of change on a new setup.

I'm not sure what the surface material is, just that structurally they are super solid thick MDF. As I said, they are just plain, not ugly---especially if you keep the grilles on (which I did because I didn't hear any big difference having them off).

The Chane A2.4 is a little bit nicer looker since it has a "black ash" sort of finish and has a slimmer profile thanks to 5.25" woofers vs the Ascend's 6.5" woofers.

If you want a nicer looking dual woofer bookshelf, check out the Hsu HC-1 in Rosewood, or especially the RSL CG25 which comes with free return shipping.
