B&w 604 s2

I have an opportunity to pick up a pair of B&W DM604 S2 speakers for 200$ and I'm not sure whether it's worth the investment or not. It looks like it was sold 20 years back.. Need some advice if i should get them or not. I currently have the Andrew jones Floor speakers Fs52

thanks

I listened to a pair of these yesterday at a friend’s house. I agree listen, but for $200 still a solid speaker.

Is your friend the one selling them?

If not, listen to the ones that are for sale.

No, he is not. As indicated I would listen to the pair. However, as I commented still a solid pair of speakers for $200 if he enjoys them.

If they're in good shape and sound good to your ears, pick 'em up and enjoy them.

Thank you everyone. I listened it was good one of the tweeter has a dent but I didnt feel anything unusual when listening but I was misinformed the price is 200$ for each so 400$ pair. But I couldn't say for sure if it better than the Andrew Jones ones I have as I am unable to compare. Is it worth putting money on a 20 year old system?

Not when you can take that $400 and shop at A4L and get newer Canton or Kef.

Even if not spending a lot of money, it makes sense to make sure you are buying good speakers. Here's perhaps the best way to know:

https://www.avsforum.com/forum/89-sp...nce-shows.html

If you see a speaker that interests you, check sites like Stereophile and Audhioholics for good objective measurement data, or https://soundstagenetwork.com/index....=16&Itemid=140

If you don't see the *exact* speaker you are looking for, you might look at several other speakers by the manufacturer to get an idea if they know how to design and engineer good speakers. Companies that make lousy speakers are often all lousy and vice versa.

Thank you.i saw those KEF and Canton but I couldn't find any place near me that would allow me to listen to. I listened at the Bp10b is sounded good but I read online about being sensitive to placement. My side walls are about 18 inches away and back wall is about 12 inches away. I currently use paradigm Cc290 for center and AJ fs52 for floors
