Need Advice - 7.1.4 or 5.1.4 or 7.1.2

I am retrofitting my theatre room and now am on to adding Atmos (just completed new Seymour AT screen/BenQ 5550 4k install, DIYSG Cinema LCR, and dual PA460 sub). Currently it's a 5.1 system with Monitor Audio Monitor One's as surrounds. I have some constraints on my room that I need advice. Basically considering three scenarios:

- 7.1.4
- 7.1.2
- 5.1.4

Clearly I would prefer 7.1.4 (I have the 9 channel AVR) but my couch recliner unit is close to back wall so as not to intrude on walk lane thru the room. This will force the atmos and rears to be very close together. I have no issue ceiling mounting the atmos or positioning the rears. Just concerned they will be too close and disrupt the imaging.

I plan to use DIYSG Volt 6 or 8 as atmos in ceiling and as surrounds. Attached is the view of my room and the options. Appreciate any help.

IMO if the couch stays where it is, so 5.1.2. If you can get 5 or 6 feet behind the MLP then do 5/7.1.4. Otherwise less is more.

I would just stick with 5.1.2 if you can't move the couch. I have a 7.x.6 setup and when I temporarily ran it as 5.x.2 I was actually impressed at how good it was. Sure not as good as 7.x.6 but certainly good enough.
But you really should move the couch forward - not only will you gain visual immersion (I sit 1:1 screen width : seating so that would put you 5' off the back wall) but put you at the sweet acoustical 1/3 room length spot (or pretty close) but you can then easily do 7.x.4
You have to weigh up whats better - 7.x.4 or not having to walk around a couch

Move the couch up a few feet and go 5.1.4. The additional cost of an 11 channel AVR isn't really worth it for what the 2 additional surrounds add to the mix. If you can't move the couch up, you could still do 5.1.4, but maybe less effective.
