The Official Buchardt Audio Thread

It's time Buchardt gets their own thread at AVS.

This is a Danish audio company that produces passive and active loudspeakers as well as electronics.

Interesting that they don't make a center speaker.

Yeah, at this point in time they are focused on stereo. I've communicated with Mads some about center speakers and surrounds. They may go in that direction in the future but there are no plans at this time.

Notable are their new active towers. Frequency response: 17 - 40.000 Hz +/- 1.5dB

DSP can make just about any driver do anything.

Leave it at 8 ohms and call it a day :)

Just pre ordered the A500 and hub. Hoping a worthwhile upgrade to my Kef ls50 wireless. Particularly interested in the dsp to optimize for a midfield listening environment as speakers will be placed about 6 ft from my listening position.

I'm mostly a heahone guy with a Raal SR1a and Audeze LCD XC but occasionally like the psychoacoustic bass impact.

Mads said they expected to ship end of June.

update on A500 shipping date

Email from Mads Buchardt:

Dear patient customer of the A500.

Thank you so much for your support and especially for your trust towards Buchardt Audio.

The damn Coronavirus has affected us all and I really hope that you are all staying safe out there! I'm happy to report that Buchardt Audio are - despite the pandemic - doing tremendously well, - well over our expectations.

We have worked so hard to minimize the delays in the production of the A500, but, sadly, I must inform, that the A500 delivery will be delayed a little bit. They are on the way to us, and will actually arrive within June as promised, but for last preparations we need a week or two to get things ready which means that we will have them all shipped out between the 10th-20th July. Because of this delay, we would like to offer a free insurance for the electronics. This means, that if anything happens with the electronics within the next 5 years, we have your back. It's just an extended warranty that's tied to your name.

Another thing this pandemic has affected, is the development of our soon to come Buchardt app where you control your room correction, the advanced EQ and later full surround setup if you go that route.
It will launch with only the room corrections which is the most important thing of course. But the ability to tune and toy around with the EQ is postponed for a bit, sadly. We needed to really prioritize what was most important as the virus just slowed everything down. We are talking about implementing a simple tone control temporarily, but I need to acquire some more information about this.

I'm so sorry that I can't bring all good news. But, have a little more patience and I will however ensure that you will be so impressed with what the A500 brings when they arrive! We are so proud of what we have accomplished with them and I genuinely believe that this will be an eye opener for many people that are skeptical of active speakers. I can already share, that the two reviewers that have them say they are among the best, if not the best speakers they have had for review, that is a good start!

Hope you all the best. Take care!

Sincerely,
Mads Buchardt
CEO

Since the S400 doesn't use a traditional port and thus is much less fussy about rear air output near wall boundaries, we can take advantage of that and achieve a truly great bass performance from this little speaker using the methods described here: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/91-au...l#post59769418

I'd really like to see the new towers measured on ASR. The S400s measured awesome, and I imagine these will measure even better, being fully active.

It turns out they are in fact working on an on-wall surround, basically an S400 cut in half.

Also, the new towers:

Buchardt App

The A500 must be close to shipping - site says between July 10 to 20 and I see the app just landed in the Apple store.
