Love the look. Is this supposed to replace the Studio or Monitor?

I finally pulled the trigger on the Klipsch RP-140SA from Amazon US yesterday, when it dropped to US$399 before shipping a few days ago. I know this is very standard pricing for you guys in US, but is a great price for us Aussies when our retailers here are selling this for more than A$1000!

I will be putting this on top of my Paradigm Studio 100 V5 floorstanders. Are there any Paradigm Studio 100 owners here that has an upfiring ATMOS speaker module on top of their speakers? If so, what make/model of speaker?

We just demo'd my Persona B speakers at a home theater meet and they sounded incredible. That is actually the first time I have heard the B's. Mine have been in boxes until my theater is done. I wondered how they would sound. They we're pretty impressive for bookshelf's. In fact the most impressive bookshelf speakers I have ever heard. We we're cranking them to insane levels. Equipment was BAT pre and Musical Fidelity mono amps.

all in the room, setup, distance apart, signal chain, etc for sure.
i listened to a pair of the persona 5f towers , or whatever they are, at a local store months ago, and walked away depressed, and happy at the same time
they were OK sounding , but didnt bowl me over for sure, like i thought they would
i was really expecting to be blown away from the hype, and price

came home to my old plain studio 80s- v1, and thanked them for doing what they have done for me for over 20 years.

Looks like the msrp for the Premier Series are up on their website now. I'll be very curious to find out if this new line would be an improvement over my old Studio 60 v3's...

Anyone wanting to sell a CC-390 V5 or V6? Been searching for years with no luck or usually a day late with some of those Canadian sites. Located in Iowa, willing to drive. I currently have a CC-290, Monitor 9, ADP-190, and mini-monitors all V5.

Debating on trading in and "upgrading" but sound is hard to beat.

Is it replacing the 55C? Still gonna have the 85F as L/R? Or...is this a totally different critter?

Seems like a resonably priced pair of 100's v5 here.

Also, I'm looking for a pair of Studio 20's v5 in Piano Black, if anyone knows of a pair for sale please post.
Thanks

Gotcha! If you are committed to Paradigm (given this is a Paradigm thread after all.....)...that's all good. But given your center constraints/tight space - are you open to on-wall, or must be in-wall? If you didn't mind on-wall, and you can audition, I'd have a serious look at the Totem Acoustic Tribe line - on-wall, in-wall, though I don't think the in-wall center would work for you, the on-wall might. The III and V with Torrent drivers are really magnificent, would make for wonderful L/C/R, rivaling the Prestige in my opinion. Don't let the small drivers fool you! I know, I know.......Paradigm thread, I might be blaspheming here.....

Yeah, it's too bad the seller won't ship them and I have been looking at that one for sure. I would prefer cherry or rosewood.

I was looking at these ones:

http://www.usaudiomart.com/details/6...studio-100-v5/

It was for a mere $1200 USD, but some buyer already beat me to it. The seller might sell them to me if the other buyer backs down.

Is it normal for Paradigm speakers to be a lot cheaper on Canada especially with the current exchange rate?

Roadtrip! If u want something bad enough, you will go to great lengths to get it. (At least that is what my side chicks tell me! 😂😂😂&#x1f602 all kidding aside, road trip or find sm1 local to the area u know and trust that would be willing to pick up and ship on your behalf. I had my Monitor 9's shipped from Texas to Iowa and it cost just over $200 packed in their original boxes.

Upgrade path advice

I am looking to upgrade from my dated Studio 60 V1 mains and CC490 V2 center channel. I found a nice piano black CC490 V5 locally. If I buy the CC490 V5, then my next upgrade will naturally be a pair of Studio 100 V5's which are getting harder to find. Or should I just hold on for now and wait until some used Prestige's hit the market in a few years. The specs of the CC490 V5 are better than the Prestige 45C which has me wondering if even going to the Prestige line is worth it. Of course by then the resale value of my studio's could be worse.

I am guessing the CC590 V5 will blend ok with my old Studio 60's for now?

Quick question (and yes I read the literature) but have an opportunity for a 5 channel amp rated at 250wpc. Can my Monitor 9's v5 handle bi-amping from this amp? Was thinking bi-amping front two n using 5th channel for my cc-290.

Or is this overkill and facing potential damage in doing so?

I played with bi-amping on my v5 Monitor 11's. Made no difference what so ever.
I then bought the Outlaw Audio M220O mono-block amplifier @ 200 wpc. Hooked
Them up without bi-amping....again, no difference compared to my Marantz AVR.

The Monitor series are super efficient speaker with sensitivity at 91db

You are probably using no more than 25 watts to get super loud.(unless you listen in a gymnasium)

Also at 250 watts you are probably going to exceed the power spec handling of the Monitor 9's.
(150 watts maximum input---no bi-amp)-

Hope that helped

My dealer just set up a Premier 800 tower in his showroom. Listened to them yesterday. While only having about 1 hour on them I think they were great sounding. Did not listen to the center although he did have it there. In my opinion the speaker looks much better without the grille.

Hey guys, in regards to painting the grills on the in ceiling speakers, how did you guys do it? I was thinking spray paint. How do you avoid the holes on the grills being covered by paint?

Thanks

Light coats, don't get too close, don't go back and forth repeatedly as you'll build up too much paint in short order. Let the light coats dry sufficiently in between each spraying.....

Did you happen to notice if they had a sort of heavy fiberboard frame inside the grills? The Atom Monitor SE does, curious if that's a new thing they're doing, or just for the Monitor SE stuff.

Perfect, thank you very much. I assume any type of spray paint would do as well. I am going to try it out in the next few days once I get a chance.

They are nothing like the Monitor SE ones. They’re a super thin minimal grille with plastic diamond shape pattern behind the grille — no wood.

It took me awhile to re-do this process and shift around the speakers for the re-test. WAF of the Anthem ARC sound spectrum sweeps is absolute zero.

I think you were right about this. I'll put the images here to refresh the conversation.
Here are 2 measurements from different listening positions for my old speakers, both left and right on the graph. These were the ones I posted before:
  • Paradigm7SEMark2-Position1-originalleftrightconfig.png
  • Paradigm7SEMark2-Position2-originalleftrightconfig.png
The left channel has a big response divergence from the right.

Then I swapped them as you suggested:
  • Paradigm7SEMark2-Swapped-Better-Position1.png
and it looks like the behavior I was seeing before is the same based on *position*, not on speaker. Good call on this suggestion.

Finally, I did an isolation test - just one speaker at a time and the mic placed about 5ft away, directly in front of the speaker. Both tests were with each speaker and the mic in the same position:
  • Paradigm7SEMark2-139647-closeup(wasleftbefore).png
  • Paradigm7SEMark2-139646-closeup(wasrightbefore).png
their graphs are almost identical. This makes me think that you are entirely right about the room being the cause of the difference in the original graphs.

Soooo, I *do* see some significant dips in these charts (the final 2 images), but should I consider these speakers "OK"? If I sell them I want to be able to do so to a buyer in good faith that they are working correctly (as well as they can). Or, if it has problems, at least point them to a possible problem source if they want to give DIY rehab a go.

Thanks for any input. Hope the attachment names aren't too confusing.

Curious, how small is the prestige 75?

Would it be sufficient for a 22 feet by 18 feet room? I am considering the 85. 95 seems too big and slightly out of my budget.

And is it noticeably better than the Studio line? Thanks.

IMHO the 85 is perfectly sized. I'm a huge fan of 6.5" drivers, just the right mix of bass and agility. I would suggest the 95s only for someone who doesn't have or want a subwoofer, and 75s only if you have a very cramped space. I've never heard Studios, but my 85s replaced a pair of Monitor 9 v6 and they're light years ahead, while being roughly the same size.
