I have the upgrade bug and I'm adding a MRX 1120 to drive my system and am thinking of starting over on speakers or adding 4 15B's as ATMOS speakers... I know they aren't technically correct but with a correct angle that they would deliver just fine, decisions decisions.
I've had good luck using US or Canuck Audio Mart to sell my used equipment. It would also be a good resource for figuring the value of your current speakers.

Thanks, I'll check Audio Mart out. Not sure how I would go about packaging that many speakers well enough to survive todays trucking industry's treatment of packages....guess I could bring home spare plywood and timber from work break out the saws and build a full coverage container!

Or you could first try selling with "no shipping, local pickup / common point meet up" option and find buyers willing to drive a 100 mile radius for quality speakers.

The prestige simply lacks the crisp treble , the mid soundstage and overall transparency for 2 ch. music playback that other speakers in a similar price range or more expensive can provide. All you're getting is an alumimum dome tweeter with the prestige.

The KEF latest R series (not the older R300/700 models) are not as laid back as older models and were pretty good. The B&W's i auditioned -700 and 800 diamond series- struck a nice balance between crisp highs, more forward sounding mids and overall transparency.

My old monitor audio gold 300 with the ribbon had crisper highs than prestige, the B&W 700 series (702 S2) was a little better and the B&W 800 diamond series (802 D3) easily beat the prestige 85F with the crisp highs and overall transparency. Don't kid yourselves to think the prestige is anywhere close to a 802 D3 with the proper amplification and a good source (though granted it is a more expensive speaker), the persona series might compete with it, but with music i couldn't be sure. That speaker was a musical treat, and it's not paradigm prestige level territory, the sound that speaker was putting out would compete with the higher Wilson Audio, Marten and Zu speakers, IMO.

The speakers i recently auditioned at the dealer with dedicated amplification and using my own red book CD's and a few stereo sacd's (i dont do streaming) included B&W, KEF, Paradigm, Focal, Polk audio..here's how i would rate them for 2 ch. music playback, also including my old Monitor Audio gold 300 added into the mix:

B&W 800>Monitor Audio gold> B&W 700> KEF R series (their latest R series)> KEF LS50> Paradigm Prestige> Focal 9xx> Polk Audio LSiM

That's for 2 ch. music, with movies the paradigm prestige as well as focal rate much higher. It seems paradigm prestige (and also focal) are engineered more with home theater in mind rather than dedicated stereo.

Some people here also recommend Totem Acoustic for music playback, i'm sure that's a great recommendation from what i've read of them and they would rate very highly, but my dealer had no totem speaker in stock, so i could not audition it.

-------
Eventually from all that i heard, i would like to get the B&W 800 series but they are rather expensive and due to budget limitations, i may have to compromise and settle on the B&W 700 series in the coming days. I have a media room that has to double as a stereo and multichannel system (with music as a priority), if i build another dedicated room for only movies in the future, i may look at paradigm again. For now, no.

Peace.
I’m curious your thoughts on the Personas. I have a dream of getting a pair of 3F’s one day. Music only.

The B&W 700 series is more in line with the Prestige. Their carbon tweeter sounded interesting, but I just didn’t pull the trigger that way. I would agree that the 802 Diamonds are probably outstanding. I never heard them because the price is 10X that of a Prestige and never on my radar at that price.

I’m a value guy...only in this dumb hobby does it make want to reach for more.

Hey guys.. I've tried asking this elsewhere but to no luck .. I'm looking at these Sherbourn Amp and PreAmp set.

MOD- please delete if you wish, I was just hoping to get someone who may have an idea.

What are your thoughts on Sherbourn Pre-Processor PT-7030 and Amp PA 7-350?

Someone is selling both for a total price of $3100 CDN. They posted at $4500 (which I feel was a regular launch price) but they were sold cheaper at one point? Could I bargain more?

Would these be a good pair compared to Yamaha CX-A5200/MX-A5200, Anthem MRX 1120, Denon x6500/x8500?

Powering: Paradigm Prestige 95F/55C, 15B surrounds and backs/heights.

Condition as per them is almost like new as they've never used it.

Pics below.

Well, here's a review of the processor:

https://www.audioholics.com/av-pream...ound-processor

It is outdated at this point, and you wouldn't need it, so you'd be paying for something that is behind the times. I'd imagine though that the amp would be just fine paired with any of those receivers.

Still, I'd probably just get the receiver and see how you like that before investing in an amp. If you wanted to do separates, that's fine. The question is do you need to? If you wanted to go separates, I might like to the AVM60 as a pre-pro that would work with the Sherbourn.

I'm in CT, it's a pair of Mini Monitor v6 or Monitor SE Atom (haven't decided which to keep yet, but the Mini Monitors have some small holes on the bottom from attaching to stands), a CC-290 v6, and a pair of ADP-390 v6 which I bought new old stock a year or two ago.

edit: ADP, not CC.

Let me know what you think of the 25s. I sure wish they would play lower. And are they bipolar, dipolar, or can a use them as a single channel with only the front firing? Thanks

Is that a 95/55/25 configuration? You are going to be very pleased. Got mine a month ago, powered by a MRX1120. Just yesterday swapped it out for an AVM60(my local dealer allowed me to exchange my 2mth old unit), since i had picked up a used Rotel 1585. It makes the speaker sing sweet music.

I have a sig center channel that I'm not in a rush to upgrade to a Persona B speaker. I'm pretty happy with the sound in my 5.1 system right now. I have the Persona 3f fronts. They replaced Studio 40 (v2) speakers which I was "happy" with. That was a good upgrade. I think the Persona L&R speakers would definitely be a good jump from sigs as well. I just can't tell that much because of movie watching using the sig center speaker instead of just L&R stereo with the Persona 3f's.

I do think the Persona speakers need good components to mate with. I upgraded to an Anthem 720mrx from an older Onkyo receiver. I am still using an old Parasound amp HCA2205AT... something. 220 wpc x 5. It's been great. I love it and I love the sound from the 3f's. I'm listening to way more music now. I was never an acoustic fan, but now I find myself listening to vocals and acoustic music. Wow! Guitars plucking, singers' voices, it's very addicting. I listen for hours at a time now in stereo mode. I'm not even using any good sources yet. Having said that, I am going to be upgrading to an integrated amp with HT bypass at some point. Something that I can use for the Personas and still enjoy the rest of the 5.1 system for movies, which is already great. All in one system with a "good enough" dac, and enough juice to drive the Personas, and I think I'm done after that. No vynil, no CD's, just streaming or something similar. Looking at Lyngdorf 3400, Anthem STR, Hegel possibly... couple of others... Micromega, but not sure if that has HT bypass. I hear the Luxman integrateds are nice but pricey. I'm looking at these because I don't upgrade often. It will probably be my last... I've had the Parasound amp and Studio speakers for 1 or 2 decades.

Anyway, Personas are definitely a step up but IMO the rest of the system can help make it sound it's best.

Here's my setup which is about 10 years old now:
Cambridge Audio Azur 640R & 740C
Paradigm Studio 60's, 20's, CC-590 & Seismic 12
This is a 5.1 system which includes a Xbox One X, a PS4, a Sony BDP-S5200 and a Motorola VIP1200. I am looking to replace my Panasonic TC-P65VT50 (don't know if I'll be able to get it fixed or not as the main board is in transit) with either a 65" A1E or A8F. If I could find a cheap OPPO 203 (lol) that would be a nice addition also.

I don’t have the Personas but the Prestiges and I know that feeling very well. I find myself hearing old songs “for the first time”. I’m also an engineering critic now LOL. I really like the 3F and maybe one day, I’ll get a pair.

Personally i think you should just add a good 2 channel amp for your music needs. If i hadnt spent so much recently my local dealer has Anthem Statement A2 on for $1200 CDN($1900 off) right now. That would make any towers sound sweet.

With that setup if you are only going to stream, I would suggest a quality streamer like something in the Bluesound line. Then you get lots of options for quality streaming services.

Keith Don't Go by Nils Lofgren sounds quite good.

Got everything set up today. Took quite some time to rearrange cables and whatnot. Without any significant break-in, these sounded great out of the box! I have only run everything via “Through” so far and it’s very impressive. No fatigue whatsoever. Listened to a bunch of music to start. Currently watching Avengers: Infinity War. Here’s the funniest thing. For the first 45 minutes of the film, I realized I was still in 2 channel stereo not even realizing it. It was really good between my fronts and subwoofer. When I switched to surround in DTS-HD Master Audio, it just got all the better. I have yet to run any EQ so I’m only beginning to imagine how much better they will be. More to come as I continue to audition. I’ve been listening since late afternoon and loving what I’m hearing so far!

Need some help, Please.

I am finally getting a semi legit HT room and that means I need to wall mount my Studio ADP 590's, but for some reason I don't have the wall mounting bracket.
I can't find anything about them or what they look like on-line.

Does anybody have these and can you please post a picture for me?
I'll be calling Paradigm tomorrow to see if I can get some.

Thanks.

Looks good, however, I would move the center to the top shelf, or get a new cabinet so it’s on the top shelf without being sort of boxed in and then adjust height of the tv if necessary.

I would just move center forward to level with edge.

Yamaha RX-A1030, Mini Monitors, CC-190, Surround 1 sides & backs, SVS SB2000, Mitsubishi HC7900DW

My recommendation is to not worry what Paradigm recommended. Buy most expensive Rythmik (SVS, HSU, and others good options) you can afford. I love Paradigm but think better sub values out there.

Earlier this week I was able snag a deal locally on a pair of Studio 60 V5s. They completely blow away my old Monitor 9s for 2 channel music. I'm amazed at the bass output from the 5.5" drivers. In Pure Direct mode with no EQ they sound delightful, big clear soundstage. Haven't tried any movies yet but I'm sure they are awesome for HT as well.
