All feedback welcome.
IF you're running your A9's at full, or large, using the three 7" woofers, you can feed them pretty much as much power as you want!!!!

More than once I have bridged my XPA-2 stereo amps to yield close to 1000w for my A9's and let me tell you...….during a scene from Tron Legacy, I had the woofers literally slapping in and out of the cabinet, my recliners felt like they had Butt-Kickers in them......at one point I thought the woofers were going to fly out of the cabinets...….

Now, being fed just only 450w, they are still behaving nicely. I have owned my four A9's about 7 - 8 years now and they still impress!!!

I had the 703's in an A/B side by side comparison with the RTiA9, granted I spent years grooming the A9's for 2ch so they weren't as "edgy" as they were when I first got them.

The 703's were not as forward as the A9 but delivered nuances of detail that the A9 did not.

1) One of my main priorities is 2-channel music and sometimes I like the option to listen without subs, or lower the crossover point with subs when listening to music (which is certainly an option with the 705's).

2) I'm generally a believer of bigger speakers equals bigger sound with more output capability and lower distortion.

3) The stability factor you mentioned.

4) I prefer the aesthetics of floorstanders.

However, since I've been using a Marantz AV7704 AVP with Audyssey engaged, I feel like I need to bump the crossover to 100 Hz and increase the sub levels 6-7 dB to get the bass impact/slam "right" for multichannel concert video discs (which are another main priority). So, if I would feel I need to do this with the 705's too, the lower woofers would be essentially unused, and that just bugs me on a philosophical level.

-
I have seen and have some nice stands on a pair of 703.
My 705 without a sub are nice but unsatisfying(should have bought a 707 but thought the polk sub would last).

I know, from me this is a broken record but you have to use the avr set to 2ch/stereo to account for the difference in speaker location of a 5.1 system and to this regard not using properly positions subs is a waste. I burned a lot of time in REW making sure everything is positions the best my room can do along with room treatments.

In summary buy the 707 if you don't want to use a sub(maybe your room will let it work) buy the 705 and position the sub where it can perform the best and leave it on.
finaly stands are a one time investment what worked for the monitor worked for the rtia and finally 703.( just not the young kid running around)

So I saw today the Polk F&F 50% is back so I am very tempted to treat myself to a pair of LSiM707's. Right now I have a pair of the RTi7's which I love for my 2.1 music which I like to play very very loud! I have a Pioneer VSXLX303 receiver powering these and it does a good job.

My question is to anyone with or knowledge about the LSIM707's, how will they sound compared to my RTi7's and would I have to get a amp to help drive those LSiM707's or would the Pioneer do the job?

These are 100% loud music only, not my HT setup...Any thoughts or recommendations please

oh, and this is the spec for the Pioneer: Direct energy amplification at 100 W/Ch. (8 ohms, 20 Hz-20 kHz, THD 0.08 %, 2Ch Driven, FTC)/ 200 W/Ch. (6 ohms, 1 kHz, THD 10 %, 1Ch Driven)

Polk 265LS/255cLS L/C/R - 2 sets 80F/X-LS Atmos & LSiM703 surrounds - Dual SVS PB2000 subs

Polk has the 50% off F&F discount right now so you can get those LSiM 703's plus the 706c all half price!!!

That is a great deal / combo! With two heavy hitter subwoofers to take care of the lower frequencies..........of course!

Let me know at what time, and I’ll give you my feedback.
Running a Behringer NX6000D, assuming they are being fed 1000W...and they truely seem like they could take more.

You can give your feedback anytime!! And as long as you're using the whole tower, 1000w is good, it's the woofers that suck up so much power. The top end, not so much.

You won't know if you need an amp until you try. Probably 100 w is enough. I don't see much diffrence between my mono blocks and directo connect to my yamaha 2020 with 2 channel plus with a sub, you won't need as much power for the speaker since it won't have the load from producing the low end.

rtia -> lsim
less harshness of the high end.
more music transparency and more clarity.

LSim 703 frequency 100hz from audessey. I dont know why the lsim 703 was only 100hz when I ran audessey unlike i previously ran it was 40 hz(then crossover it to 80hz).Its a month old. Would you think woofer was blowned as previously said by Geoffrey that maybe woofer was blown. If ever was blowned? How was polk customer service deal with it?

One of my 703 had a loose connection to the binding post or cross over which lead the woofer to not work. Take the binding post off and make sure every thing is tight and have solid connections. also make sure the binding post connection wire is making a solid connection to the top and bottom

Okay, I had to bite. And believe me, the price of the A9's are so delicious right now, I actually considered an third pair and fourth pair

But instead, I opted for my original choice, a second pair of 703's. And, I've been in the Onkyo/Integra camp since I believe '09, but since they've done away with XT32 and all the goodies that come with it, I'm goin to try out a Marantz. Got a smoking deal on an AV8802A pre-processor and I'm thinking of running a single pair of A9's as rear surround (amped of course) and due to the confines of my current space, I'm goin to try the two pair of 703's as mains and wide channel. With my 706 in the middle, the front stage should be pretty decent.

Give me a moment to put everything together and I'll shoot a pic or two and my assessment.....and as far as the A9 goes, if I were in my old set up, I'd probably jumped on another two pair of A9's for sure!!!

Hurican like

And the wind continues to howl...……………….

Okay then, a Pair of RTiA3's on the way to be used as heights. UGGG, I just realized, I'm one amp channel short of being able to run 11 speakers...…..hmmm, guess I'll have to run a single rear until I can figure out the amp thing, or, reinstate the DTR-70.4 to handle the heights until I can fully accommodate the Marantz Pre.

Quick, somebody throws me a rope, this quicksand is up to my eyebrows

New arrival

"Well well well, look who's stuck in the porthole".....oops sorry wrong movie

She just arrived. very impressive in person, will swap out the Integra 80.2 for the Marantz AV8802 this weekend, run Audyssey this weekend and check out the difference in sound.

My plan was to run two pairs of 703's across the front however with a pair of RTiA3's up high in the front, the Marantz will also accommodate: 703's as mains, 706 CC, RTiA9's as rears, and debating on leaving FXiA6 in surround, or replace with 703's.

Yep, It's on Hulu right now and I'm pretty sure you're gonna like it. After you finish with the series, there's a movie called Serenity that they did after the series prematurely ended. Note: That Serenity is not to be confused with the episode in the series with the same name.

IDK but if you watch them in order it doesn't really count.

LOL. Speaking of which, Hulu has them in the order they "should" have been shown in. That's how I watch them anyways.
Take my love, take my land,
Take me where I cannot stand.
I don't care, I'm still free,
You can't take the sky from me.

Take me out to the black,
Tell them I ain't comin back.
Burn the land and boil the sea,
You can't take the sky from me.

There's no place, I can be,
Since I've found Serenity.

And you can't take the sky from me.

Hello.

I wanted to come in here and ask if there is anyone located in the South Florida area that would be willing to demo a set of RTi A9s for me. I recently purchased a set and I feel that they may be defective or that I may be asking too much out of them.

If anyone is available, please let me know.

Thank you

Good idea. I've quoted you over at Polk forum. Hopefully you can get it figured out. In your AVR, do you have an option to go into speaker set up and bump up the bass on the mains?

I did that once to show my daughter that the A9's could knock her down. I maxed out the bass in the AVR, put in Tron Legacy bluray and literally had the woofers slapping in and out of the cabinet. I was afraid they were going to fly right out

My recliners felt like I had Buttkickers in them!!! No exaggeration. My amp was maxed out too, the redlights were lit big on my XPA-2 300wpc amp. The red lights only appear after the blue lights are maxed out

Tell me what time in the movie, I'll play it, and give you my feed back .
