I don't know if it's a regular delivery day for them, but I know they deliver on Saturday now. Unlike FedEx, it might be by request only and costs extra.

Well, you could be right. But Saturday is regular delivery day for FedEx. But we will see.

Edit: The page still says the scheduled delivery is for Monday, so this makes me think you're probably right. Though it was early enough (7:19am) that the status was updated to 'On FedEx vehicle for the delivery' that I would think it would have gone out on today's truck. But maybe not.

I went back and checked some prior FedEx orders and on the day it said and was updated to 'On FedEx vehicle for delivery' it was delivered that day. But again, we will see. The fact that it hasn't updated the delivery date to today make me think that this isn't always the case and I will likely get it delivered Monday.

Gosh, waiting for and dealing with deliveries sucks!

I also note that FedEx doesn't seem to have a status of 'Out for the delivery', which would clearly indicate it's on a truck making deliveries that day. Oh well.

I have a modest 2.0 channel system with the Diamond 225's as my speakers. I have had them for about two months now and feel they have broken in nicely. I love the sound. These are great speakers. I just have the nagging feeling that I could have done better with the Reva 2's. I wonder how they sound in comparison? Anybody have any experience with both speakers?

I've described the difference between the 220s and the Reva-2s in a recent earlier post. Unfortunately, I've never heard the 225s and they're generally reported to be the best of the 200 series (and better than the 220s for those who have had both). I would think due to the larger driver, the bass of the 225s goes a little deeper. So you'd probably be giving up some deeper bass with the Reva-2s.

Thanks for the response. I wondered if they weren't a little brighter (the Reva 2's) than the 225's. Maybe they are. I don't think I would like that. Can you link to the earlier post you referenced? Thank you.

I don't have the link, but it's on page 62. Post#s 1849 and 1854. The 220s are a little brighter than the Reva-2s. I'd say the 220s were slightly on the warm side of neutral, where as the Reva-2s are well into the warm side of neutral.

Seggers

I think I figured this out. FedEx Home delivery is Tuesday through Saturday, but regular FedEx is Monday through Friday. My order/package is via regular FedEx, therefore I'm not getting it delivered today and it should come Monday. So the page is reflecting the correct scheduled delivery date after all, and my missed scheduled delivery on Friday was only pushed back one day as it (logically) should have.

Thank you. I read your posts. Very informative. I now have something to base my decision on, other than speculation. But that won't be my only factor in deciding so I need to do some more research. I hope you are still enjoying your Reva 2's, and maybe someday I will join you in owning them.

honestly ,, unless you have experience with wharfedale's and have found them bright to your ears that is something i wouldn't worry about at all.. they aren't fatiguing.. and even my 10.1s (that have a "hot" tweeter) aren't fatiguing , at all... the reva's should be a solid "mid fi type " choice ..iow.. it should compete well with speakers in the $600-$1500 range (some at the top of that range will obviously be a bit better build wise)....

My suggestion is just keep your 225s if you like them and are happy with them. It's a fine speaker. That is, unless you have money to burn and/or just like trying different speakers.

One thing I suggest though is ditching the stock jumpers that come with the 225s and either make your own from regular speaker wire or buy better jumpers. I noticed a pretty significant improvement on my 240s in the high frequencies when I upgraded the jumpers. Same with the Reva-2s.

I've never tried bi-wiring either of mine. Frankly, I don't understand how that could make a difference since it's all connected to the same single closed circuit at the amplifier end. Some people have reported better results with bi-wiring their Wharfedales, but it may just have mostly been the ditching of the stock jumpers that resulted in the difference they heard.

there are some nice ones out there, but most are pretty pricey for what they do, try some 14 gauge speaker wire 1st.. if you don't like the results try some jumpers

I use Audioquest Rocket 44 speaker cable and Audioquest Saturn jumpers. Both of which are quite expensive, but you don't need to buy jumpers. You can make your own with the same regular speaker wire you're using. The Diamond 220 series has plugs in the binding posts that prevents the use of banana plugs, but I think they can be removed if you wanted to use bananas for the jumpers. The Reva-2s did not come with such plugs, so I was able to use banana to banana jumpers on the Reva-2s (the regular wire connection I have is spades). For the Diamond 240s, I didn't know about removing the pegs, so I bought spades for the jumpers and had to stack them with the spades of the main wire (not recommended, because the multi-fit spades don't go all the way to bottom of the U of the spade, making the stacking of 2 difficult and not as secure you would want).

I think the manual indicates that bi-wiring is preferred, but I am with you, I don't see how it could be any different sounding than jumpers. Like you said, what people hear is probably from ditching the stock jumpers. Now, upgrading the jumpers, I could see that making a difference. I wouldn't spend a fortune on jumpers though.

I mainly bought the Saturn jumpers because it seemed illogical to have and spend for such high quality main wires and not have equally high quality jumpers to go with them. I'm someone who believes speaker wire makes a difference and is worth the money. Last year, I decided to 'invest' for the long-term in some high quality wire and decided to go all out with Rocket 44. Before that I was using regular, inexpensive, OFC stranded wire. With the better wire, the sound is a little tighter, clearer, and 'truer' sounding and has a little lower noise floor. The regular stranded wire was 'softer' sounding (for lack of better word) and highs were not as smooth. But to each his own with the whole wire thing.

Yes, there's no need if you're not using super high quality wire for the main wire. You should be able to get a fairly good pair for only like $20-30 bucks, or you could make your own if you have some extra of your speaker wire left. If you're already using bare wire at the terminals for the main wire, it should be easy to just cut 4 small wires for the jumpers, remove the stock jumpers, and connect the 4 wires to the posts.

Well, that is if you're not using too thick of wire. Two together might be too thick to get through the holes at the terminals. I would think 12 gauge would be be too thick. Two 14 gauge might just barely fit. I forget how big the holes are on the 200 series, but I recall they're fairly big. At any rate....

a person could even just add 3 inches of wire to each speaker wire (connected by bare wire of course) connect to the speaker at the juncture point (to either post ) then use the extending 3 inch add-on to connect to the other post.. i just thought rather than fighting 2 pieces of wire on 1 post combine the wire , eliminating the fight to keep 2 wires under the cap when tightening...

I am using bananas so it shouldn't be an issue to get some spades under there, too. My posts didn't have anything blocking the holes for bananas so it wasn't an issue. The only problem with fitting some spades there is the fact that the posts on the speakers are at a weird angle. I might be able to get some short wires in the same cable I am using with spades that should work. Shouldn't be too expensive.

Interesting. I use banana plugs on the set of 220s I just go with no problem. Just spent ten minutes swapping out the stock jumpers for some 14 gauge Monoprice cable I had lying around. 14 gauge in the holes, screwed down tight, and the bananas go right back in. Since they're my rears I don't know that I'll notice any difference, but can't hurt.
