By the way the X900E is an insanely gorgeous display. Its surpassed what I thought it would be and way past what I thought an LED/LCD could do.

Why take the tv down?

Well it's just a thought. Long story is I had a 52 inch LCD before your on a full motion mount so it was off the wall 10 inches or so. The new 55 inch I have on a slim fixed mount so it's right against the wall, so it's 10 inches back. Now I bought a full motion mount that can be extended 14 inches off the wall. This will of course bring the TV closer to the seating area. I will also be able to tilt the TV. I think this will solve my issues but just in case my last resort is to put in on it's stand and bring in as close as I need it to be. That's the whole story. What do you think?

I’m just not sure about sitting on top of the center. It may be fine as far as the weight.. but I wouldn’t like it.

Thanks and I agree. I really think putting it on the full motion mount will solve all these issues. I'm actually not skimping and I'm having a home theater guy come in to do it. I want his input on the exact height, and position it should be at.

As far as tv height, I think it just depends on how far back you are from it, how low you sit, and pretty much just what you want.

And all those variables that is why I'm having a home theater guy come in and do it.

Ok..so has anyone ever had any issues with their towers? ..7000 or 8000 series? ..a squeaky squealing noise near a bass radiator like air escaping maybe? I’ve been communicating with Def Tech and have tried a couple of things.. replaced the bass radiator and even tried another amp (process of elimination).. it’s still there. It’s only when the bass gets low or there’s some low LFE. I have both towers set identical and the other one doesn’t do it. It’s done it since I got them. I’ve just kept the bass turned down. You all know the journey I’ve had over the last two years and how many DT speakers I’ve bought. I’m sending it to them for them to check it. I hope it can be fixed.. “might” be a bad enclosure. They don’t make the BP8080 anymore so not sure what would be a resolution. FedEx has already picked it up and it’s...

This is bad luck...not sure what might cause that.I know you got your 8080 towers used and I'm hoping that the seller didn't have this issue before selling them to you.I know definitive will treat you right.

Keep us posted on the problem.

Finally got my A-90 modules on my 9060's hooked up and watched some movies.

Due to restriction (not a dedicated theater and concrete ceiling) all I can say is that these give awesome another notch

Atmos native films sound incredible and non atmos movies sound almost as good with neural-x enabled in my AVR.

I know down firing or height speakers will work even better but I can't complain on how they look and perform.

Will post pics later!

The Yamaha shouldn't make that much of a difference, while not super powerful it should be just fine. That setup in general, is a good, quality, 5.25" matched system, should sound pretty "full" in that size room.

Bought one of those Sony x-800 referb's, arrived last night, reality looking forward to see what the UHD discs look like on my 1080p setup, hopefully it's a nice step up until I can get the 4k projector, but if nothing else I'll finally be able to have Atmos soundtracks again, on my newer discs (the upmixer is fine, but really..... No Atmos mix on standard BR is a real bummer). Also got a BB gift card for Valentine's Day, so went crazy with a bunch of New and Reissued UHD discs to give everything a good workout for the weekend, time to pull some things off the walls to keep them from falling off....

I rent movies through Netflix's DVD program. There are some Blu-Rays that come with Atmos. I never know which ones, but every once and a while I'm surprised when I go to play the movie and it has ATMOS.

I'm switching my rental account to 3d-blurayrental.com so I can take advantage of UHD & 4K(Oppo 203 and Vizio P65). However, not all UDH disc have ATMOS (which I thought they did). I bought the Martian on UHD during Black Friday for like $10 and was disappointed to find it only had 5.1.

To keep the DT themed. I recently set up a 7.1.4 ATMOS system with SVS Elevation height speakers in the rear, and up-firing Def Tech A-60 speakers up front. Will post my impressions...

I encountered the same kind of issue with my 7100sc. It turned out to be vibration coming from a loose internal speaker wire that wasn't secured/insolated/tacked down (I believe it was the wire to the 12" bass subwoofer) that was vibrating against the inside of the speaker cabinet when the sub played at low frequencies. Drove me crazy trying to find the source of the problem. Thought it was coming from the sub power amp... nope; defective 12" sub bass speaker... nope. Turned out to be an unsecured wire. Def Tech sent me a ball of the black sticky tack they use around the speakers. I found the offending loose wire, up behind the 12" sub speaker, secured it with the sticky tack and voila the vibration buzzing, whining sound totally disappeared.

Since the repair over 3 years ago I have turned my bass up very loud on numerous occasions and have never experienced a single problem since. A real bass vibration torture test to make sure the problem is solved is the very beginning scene of LIVE, DIE, REPEAT/Edge of Tomorrow and many scenes from Mad Max Fury Road... my speakers are now dead silent.

Your problem is possibly just an internal wire that happens to be vibrating against the inside of your speaker cabinet. I hope this helps.

Well.. this isn’t a vibration or rattle. It’s a squealing squeaky whistling air “fluttering” noise.. like air escaping. I can’t really describe it.

Just joking of course. Really sucks your going through this. Sounds like the enclosure or speaker cabinet? If so that is trouble.

Maybe they can fix it.. if not, then what? They can’t replace it because they don’t make them anymore..

It’s made the noise since I got them but I just haven’t said anything in hopes with talking to DT it could’ve been resolved.. tried a couple of things but that was a no-go. You only hear it when the bass gets low or during an explosion or low LFE. I had to turn the bass way down on the towers so it wouldn’t make the noise. The VTF3.5 has plenty of bass but I want the best sound & bass out of the towers also.

Yeah you want the bass from the subs and the towers, that's why you bought powered towers with built in subs. You sent them to Def Tech right? I'm sure they can fix them. Otherwise your gonna have to lower the bass to where you can't hear it, ruining the purpose of towers with subs or bite the bullet and buy new speakers. That would suck.

Yes I sent that one back. Thank goodness I have original boxes and packaging. I boxed it up and taped it very well so I hope it’s taken care of during shipping there and back. It has to go from Georgia to California and will take a week to get there and then a week to come back after it’s fixed.. If it can be fixed. So I will be without it for at least 3 to 4 weeks.
