Hi, I'm a fresh member of the PSB club. Just upgraded from some crappy old Cerwin Vega speakers to the Image T5 LR and C5 center.

Question about surrounds. (5.1) I'm a touch limited on space for the rear placement. Will the PSB minis on stands mesh well sound wise with the T5/C5 I have up front? Or should I stick with the image series and try to work out the issues with space for larger rear surrounds? Thanks!

Are you talking about the Imagine Mini? I would go with the smallest PSB Image B4 which is very similar in dimensions to the Mini (perhaps less deep).

All PSB's speaker lines are designed to be timbre ("voice") matched so any of lines will work well together.

As Treker suggested, the Image B4's are the ideal choice for a compact surround, providing you can still find a pair. Although the Imagine minis are excellent compact speakers, for surround duty with an Image front end you would be significantly overspending on them (MSRP $760/pr) in my opinion.

If you can't manage to find a pair of Image B4's, I would go for a pair of Alpha CLR1's ($100 each). They will be perfectly fine as surrounds for an Image setup, and at that price you could sink the $560 delta into something that will make more of an improvement.

Did you get yourself a sub yet? If not, that's where the most improvement can be made with the notional $560 savings. Take a serious look at the Hsu Research VTF-3 MK4 or the Rythmik Audio LV12R. Both excellent subs in their class.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info! I think my dealer still has the B4,5,6 in stock. I went with the T5's and C5 with a HUGE closeout price. I did end up with a sub as well. Not the beast that I want, but better than nothing. (sunfire 12) Decent sub coming from nothing, but have to start somewhere......within budget of course.

Anyone in the Greater Toronto Area might want to check out Bay Bloor Radio in downtown Toronto. They have the B4 Cherry pair for $149.

Hello - I planning to buy PSB X series (Imagine X1T and XC) for the front stage speakers.

My room is 18 x 15 with 13' celing and would be 50-50 between movies and music

I have a pioneer elite SC-75 AVR which will drive these speakers

Initially I was planning to go with KEF Q -series (Q500 and Q200c)

I want to hear your feedback on my choice with PSB X-series

Heck forget the T2, lets put it next to a Revel F208 or Kef R900 and see if it is $2500 superior to them.
Maybe I'm underestimating Paul Barton.

PSB Image B6s & B4s Get New Home

As a Christmas present, I passed my 2 year old PSB Image B6s and B4s on to my grandson. Wish I had picked up a C5 or C4 before they sold out, then I could have given him a complete set.

Any ideas what center would work well with the B6s?

Mike

Hi Mike. The C5 was replaced by the Imagine XC. The XC is almost identical to the C5 and will be perfectly fine with the B6's.

Can PSB Image 3LR handle my amp?

Hello all,

I was recently given a pair of PSB 3LR's and an image 8C center. I have a Pioneer Elite VSX 91-THX Receiver that I would like to use to power the speakers so I can bi-amp the fronts. The 3LR's are rated at 6 ohm and at that resistance my amp would put out 150 continuous to each channel. I can't find specs for the 3 speakers and not sure if I would overpower them or not.

Any help here would be appreciated!

All 3 are rated at 150 watts so should be fine. Most speakers give fairly generous wattage limits to allow for peaks.
At 92db those are very efficient speakers also, so there is no way you could handle listening to them at full volume without going deaf

But, if I am bi-amping them, wouldn't that double the wattage to 300 per speaker?

No, because the drivers will only draw the wattage they need being its a passive crossover. So the low pass will get the full 150 now if you crank it up at max, but the high pass will only ever need 10 (roughly). So at max volume you would be getting a little more than 150 but not much.

Are the T3's $7500 per pair? If yes, they're up against some tough competition. The Focal Electra 1028BE is a tough one to beat at this price range. I've heard good things about the Revel F208 at $5K per pair. They are on my list to audition.

Yes, $7500 per pair. The Synchrony Ones were $5500 per pair before they were closed out in late 2014.

Don't have the Revel but last year I did borrowed a dealer's T2 and did a side by side comparo with my R900 in my own house. The T2 isn't bad at all but the R900 is much more coherent. For movies the T2 seems more exciting on the upper end.

Im thinking of upgrading some of my speakers. Here is what I currently have:
PSB Alpha A/V (Fronts)
PSB 200 (Center)
PSB Ambient II (Di-pole Surrounds)
PSB Century Subsonic 2i

PSB Alpha A/V Compact Monitor, Rear Ported (One 1 3/4")
One 1/2" Polymer Dome Tweeter
One 6 1/2" Polymer-Coated Fiber Woofer
Nominal Impedance: 6 Ohms
Sensitivity: 90 dB/w/m
Manufacturer's FR Specs: 68 Hz - 21 kHz ± 3 dB
Size: 12 3/4"H x 7 3/4"W x 9 3/4"D
Magnetically Shielded
Weight: 11 Pounds Each

PSB 200
One 1/2" poly-flare dome with Ferrofluid Tweeter
Two 5 1/4" polypropylene with rubber surround Woofer
Nominal Impedance: 8 Ohms
Sensitivity: 90dB
72 - 21,000Hz
Size: 6.5" x 19.25" x 9.4"

The sub has done well and I'll probably keep it. Also, the Di-poles are great so they stay. So I guess I'm considering new fronts and a center. I'm confused about having larger fronts. If I crossover to the sub, won't that defeat the purpose of having larger speakers? I'm using a Yamaha RX-V3900 which won't be upgraded this year (and maybe not next). I know on the Yamaha I can set the fronts to small or large and they are currently set to small. How much of an improvement would I get moving to a larger center and fronts. Say a Image C5 and Image T6's or current equivalent?

Room is 14 X 48 completely open and the screen is on the 14 ft wall at one end of the room. Seating is about 17 ft from screen.

currently i own psb image t45, c40 + bookshelves.
Im going to be upgrading to possibly either, paradigm studio 60 or monitor audio silver 8.
I wanted to compare also with the imagine t2, but its over my budget unfortunately.

however, I want to listen to the imagine t since its more in my budget.
but wanted to know, can I mix the imagine t with the imagine c3 center?
and would the imagine t be much inferior compared to the others I mentioned?

Let's see what response I get in this section. Lol I currently have some older Klipsch RF-3's and I found a pair of PSB Image 6t for sale on CL. Do you think that would be a decent upgrade? Also what center channel goes with those towers?

For the center I believe you need the 9c.
Is it an upgrade? Not sure never heard either. You should definitely audition it, doesn't seem like a huge upgrade to me, but it's your ears that count.

PSB In-Walls and In-Ceiling Speakers

Hi everyone! I am thinking of joining the PSB Owners club so............ Just thought I would ask here if anyone has the PSB W-LCR2's installed and how they like them? I am thinking of doing a 7.2/5.2.4 setup and I would use 5 W-LCR2's and then 4 more from the PSB line for the ceiling.

Getting a demo of almost any in-wall or in-ceiling speaker is difficult, any comments from people that have these installed would be great. There are a large amount of speakers in this price range and would like to know if they sound awesome for HT and for music listening. It is not a dedicated room so there will be lots of music listening as well.

Thanks for anything helpful in advance!
