OK, the FX speakers do look good. Would consider those.

Intrigued by them. Loved my old MA bookshelves, and want an enclosed speaker for sound proofing purposes (and not having to build boxes for an open speaker). These seem rather cost effective. I would be doing 8 speakers for surround (sides) and Atmos (ceiling).
If your concern is sound proofing, the in walls are not the way to go.

Any speakers in wall/ceiling cavities will leak sound to the rest of the home much easier. The most efficient/cost sound barrier is multiple layers of drywall on channel clips with green glue etc. with no holes cut in it.
So bookshelf speakers or towers are a better option to keep the sound in the room.
I have atmos speakers (CT-280 CRT) planning to go in ceiling that is sound proofed. Not much I can do about that. I’m sure the sound proofing is still better then nothing...

I have a 7.1.4 atmos setup with ALL monitor audio CP speakers... Wt-380idc front 3, Wt-260s surrounds and ct-260 atmos. I think they're fantastic and I disagree with the other poster about sound leakage. I have them in the basement and the only sound traveling to the 1st floor is from the subwoofers. The back box on these speakers is extremely effective at controlling the sound to only go into the room where you want it.

Just my opinion, but I do actually own these speakers. When I was shopping I got a lot of negative comments about using in walls but they were all wrong. I don't think many people go this route, and I got a lot of comments from people that didn't actually own this type of speaker.

I disagree. I have all controlled performance in wall and in ceiling speakers and the only sound that leaks to the rest of the house is from subwoofers.

You may be confusing these with open back in wall speakers, which will leak sound very much.

Hi @purplerain . I had the exact speaker setup as you. I switched to the silver 300, c350, rxfx and silver 50. While I dont think there is a huge difference in the rxfx, the front 3 were night and day better sounding. Quite a bit more bottom end and much more clear and accurate midrange. Very smooth and not bright. I running them with an anthem MRX 1120. The imaging is outstanding. Im using 2 PSA s1510 df subs so I didn't feel I needed the 500's. I am extremely happy with the upgrade. Hope this helps. Cheers

Is it OK to mix silver towers and silver center with the RXFX surrounds?
I'm looking at $3400 shipped for the 2 towers and center

Hi @purplerain . I have the Silver FX to match everything else, I mistyped RXFX in my earlier post. I don't think sound wise there would be a huge difference if you kept your RXFX with the new Silvers. I replaced mine due to different colours. Walnut to black. That is a great price! I'm in Canada, I paid a lot more than that. Cheers

Found a dealer selling a C350 which I was able to get a good deal on (although now feel like I could have gotten more off ). Should be here end of next week!

I have dual PB-4000s with the Gold front stage (Gold 300s, Gold C350) They work fantastic, athough probably overkill lol.

CT280-IDC grilles come come off easily?

I just had MA CT280-IDC in ceilings installed for atmos by an installer and I’ve noticed that when trying to take the speaker grill off to change the tweeter direction it seems pretty firm. Are they supposed to come off easily or would they be somehow stuck on there in properly?

They're just magnetic. If you slide something between the grill and the drywall they'll pop off. Because of the angle of the edge of the grill it can be a little difficult with your fingers.

Thanks so much for the helpful response-that would explain why I can’t get it off with my hands...I’ll try a butter knife 🙂

Another question about the in ceiling CT280-IDC. I couldn’t see anywhere instructing how to change the angle of the speaker (tweeter or woofer?) in the 280.

I don’t want to just pull on it and maybe breeak something...is there a way to safely angle it to MLP?

It looks like they're similar to my wt380-idc...you should be able to push on the entire center section. Try pushing on one of the indents. That whole center section tilts.

Just want to get some opinions on how these speakers perform for home theater usage. I was specifically looking at the Silver 100's with Silver C350 (~$2450 CND) for front LCR, but the gold series from 2014-18 has also caught my eye since they're now on sale everywhere due to the new 2019 version being released. I would probably do the Gold 100's + C150 (~$2700 CND), obviously there's a big difference between the two series with the tweeters, and those prices are with no negotiating.

Currently running Focal Chorus 807V and CC 800V for my fronts, would the MA's be a noticeable upgrade? How would they compare to something like the MartinLogan Motion 35XT + 50XT center? Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to listen to those two brands pre-purchase.

Panasonic EZ1000 65" OLED / Panasonic DMP UB400 / NAD T758v3 / Nvidia Shield TV
5.1.2 speaker setup - KEF R300 / R600c / Q50a / Focal Chorus SR800V / HSU ULS-15 mk2

I’ve got all gold series in 5.1.4 and it’s great. Mine are gold 200 and 350 with 50s as surrounds.

I would definetly get the better 350 driver as it is 3 way vs 2 way of 150 and the center is the most important in home theater

Another question about the CT-280 or 380 IDC.
When I was rotating the driver I noticed a switch for room gain on/off. It was set to off on all 4. What does this mean and should I leave off?

Also, it had another switch for 0 or +3 or -3.

I was originally looking at the silver 100's with matching C350 before I saw that the golds were on closeout sale due to being updated. Will the bigger center speaker work fine with the smaller bookshelves, or is there a possibility that it could overpower them a little?

Has anyone bought from bestdealav on eBay? They have very good prices on in-walls. Just wary that they're legit/genuine, as I haven't seen them that cheap anywhere else.

wow, just noticed the Gold line (4th gen, or 4G) has been discontinued in favor of a new Gold line. Looks like MA is giving up on the ribbon tweeter and switching to a "Micro Pleated Diaphragm" (MPD) tweeter, which basically looks like an Air Motion Tweeter. I think this tweeter slides down from the Platinum line.

At any rate, there are some great prices from Parts_Connexion on Audiogon for Gold 4G speakers, if anyone is interested.

Anyone heard the MPD based speakers, either gold or Platinum?

Yamaha RX-A3080 | LG OLED77C8PUA | Monitor Audio Gold GX100 mains
Monitor Audio Gold C350 | Orb ModX surrounds and Atmos overheads | SVS SB13Ultra sub | 7.1.4
Plus a bunch of high-end headphones (Utopia, TH-900mk2, Audio Zenith, and more)

I would try and sell together and if that doesn't work then split.
