New Monitor Audio Silver 300 Series owner

Hello,

I ordered the Monitor Audio Silver 300 Series Monitors, C350 Center and silver FX surrounds today. They will be arriving next week. I have done a ton of research and have only been able to audition the Silver 100 bookshelves. From what I have read they seem to be exactly what I am looking for in my 20X20 living room with 12-14 foot vaulted ceilings. I have a sealed 15" HSU sub for bottom end. I am powering them with a Marantz SR5012 100WPC AVR.

They will be used for 70% movies and 30% Music. Any suggestions on placement from walls, break in time, power requirements etc. will be appreciated.

I am upgrading from Def Tech Mythos 9 on wall speakers and very excited to hear the difference with the larger drivers and cabinets of the monitors and Center channel.

MA Silver 300 speaker Setup

Hello,

I received my MA silver 300's and C350 center and am in the process of running them in. I am looking for some feedback on placement. My room is fairly large at 20X20 with 12 foot vaulted ceilings.

I have the C350 center channel on my speaker cabinet currently about 12 inches from the back wall so it is even with the front lip of the cabinet. It is a big speaker and I would like to move it a back to about 4 inches from the back wall so it is not so in your face. Will pushing it back cause reflections from the 8 inches of cabinet in front of where it will sit. From my novice ears I really do not notice any difference in sound. I have read it is best to have it right up to the lip to prevent reflections?

As far as the 300 floor standers...what do the bungs accomplish? I have the speakers 8 inches from the back wall and do not notice any bass boom?

Thanks
PG55

Monitor Audio Thread

This thread seems pretty quiet. Is there another MA thread or do MA owners post in the general speaker thread?

I don’t think the brand is as popular as some others, so I don’t think the thread seems a lot of traffic.

Interesting...I would have thought they were very popular since there are a lot of very positive reviews from very respectable publications and websites.

I am certainly enjoying my new Silver 300's with the C350 Center!

It would be nice to get feedback and hear about different MA systems.

We are all just enjoying listening to our speakers.

The forums with lots of traffic tend to be ones where there are problems to discuss or resolve. Ones where a great deal of work and knowledge is required to get good results. Sometimes the product incites controversy or opposing opinions.

Sometimes a quiet forum is a good sign.

Don’t get me wrong - I enjoy my Gold 300s a lot!

I did recently buy the larger center, but it doesn’t fit in our cabinet by less than 1/4”. =(

My main speakers are Ushers.

A new post in the Usher thread perhaps once/year.

It doesn't bother me that nobody on AVS owns my speakers and yours are very very nice.

Enjoy!

This is why I have the smaller gold center from the previous gold line.

I have read several reviews that talk about the huge difference in performance after about 100 hours of break in. Have any of you had experience with noticing a big difference after a certain period of breakdown?
