So I finally tinkered with airplay last night on the marantz, and went thru the sound modes. I was utterly shocked, so much that when it was in "Pure" mode just running 2 channel, I had to go double check that my subs weren't running. At about -10db's on the volume, the bass was tight and kicking my chair, and the horns were clean.

I used to run the two fronts and two subs with music, but after hearing all modes, Ill be using 2 channel with these 7ii's.

Whats crazy, I put on a good song with clean bass, and the 10's weren't moving a lot, but they were thumping my chair. Ports in the back were moving a good bit of air though.

Noob needs help!

Working on filling out my Klipsch setup for a new media room and picked up the RC-64II for the center. I have a control4 setup with all components in a central rack so will not have any furniture under the screen.

What are you 64 owners using as a speaker stand? Is there anything good out there that will hold this weight or am I looking at a DIY project. I'm not opposed, just want a sleek and modern look, and I am no carpenter!

Thanks in advance!

This is how I feel about my 5.5's.
That's why I'm kind of skeptical to upgrade to anything other than the rf-7 ii's.

Well, got the XLR cables in and ran XT32 again. Center was still -12, fronts now became -11 and -11.5 (XLR connection made things 2db hotter).

So after everything was said and done, I level matched.

LF was -11 (made it -9)
C was -12 (77db at that setting)
RF was -11.5 (made it -9.5)

All were then 75db as they should be, with -2.0db volume setting. So, i boosted my subs from -6 to -4, and I noted my new "reference" volume as -2.0 and not 0.0.

Also got this up

Klipsch puts the 52 ii in there rf-62 ii package, but im sure they would be fine considering they have the same size tweeter just 4" drivers in the 42 ii and 5.25" in the 52 ii.

So.....I finally have everything hooked up, ran Audyssey and love the sound! I'm curious though, what sound setting do you guys use when watching blu-ray's....dolby pro logic II, dts neo 6 or pure direct?

I hve a 3.2 system and just use the red "Movie button". It's basically just getting the DTS Master and TrueHD lossless tracks from the Oppo and decoding them.

@gadgtfreek

That's what I have done. When I press the red "movie button" it gives me options to use stereo, dolby pro logic II, dts neo 6 and a few others (can't pull it up right now....at work). The yellow "pure button" is the one I'm curious about. It seems to do the same as pro logic II, but without the options to adjust things. I was curious if anyone used this setting or to just get a take on what was best or what others use?

IIRC PLII, basically will mix stereo into all your channels instead of outputting 2 channel, and when it gets DD, DD+, TrueHD and Master, that is what gets sent.

I think all pure does is bypass Audyssey.

I found an answer for Pure Direct.

Pure Direct playback:
This mode is for playback with higher sound quality than in Direct playback mode.
This mode turns off the main unit display and analog video circuit. Doing so suppresses noise sources that affect sound quality.
Video signals are only output when HDMI signals are played in the Pure Direct mode.
When the Pure Direct mode has been selected, the display turns off after about 5 seconds.

In Direct and Pure Direct sound modes, the following items cannot be adjusted.
Tone
Restorer
MultEQ XT, XT32
Dynamic EQ
Dynamic Volume
Graphic EQ

I ran the RS42ii with RB81ii fronts and RC42ii (and later RC62ii) center. They blend perfectly well. I only upgraded to RS62ii surrounds to quell my "what ifs".

Hi guys,

I mounted 4 rb-61 ii on my ceiling for Atmos. I am now wondering if having the speakers facing downward will damage them. They are book shelf speakers so they were not designed to be hung from the ceiling.. Anyone have some insight to this?

Thanks

Are you running 7ch? Pure turns all processing off like tone, eq and audessey. Dts hdma and true hd give 5.1(or 6.1 or 7.1 depending on the disc)with processing, and the other options generally are for matrixing the surround back/extra channels from a 5.1 mix. I change mine constantly but if I had to choose its probably dolby ex.

@Robbiey60

My R-28F's are bi-amped, I'm running a 3.1 set up. I have all my components listed at the bottom. I was playing with the different settings before I came to work, I was curious what everyone on here used or if they preferred one thing over the other. The "pure direct" thing threw me off but I understand it now, thanks for the input.

I am finding, even though both were calibrated with XT32 to 75db's with the test tones, I cannot be as liberal with the volume and 7ii's as I was with the 82ii's.

The RB61II's arrived a few weeks ago. I got everything set up now for my daughters. Sony 48 inch Tv with Sony bluray player and Denon 3312. It's all set up in the basement. I was listening to some music the other day and was floored how well these small bookshelves sound. Feeding them 125 w/ch and really had the drivers moving. Very impressed.
