KT-DS running as front speakers post move, until I can set everything up and find a place for my boxes. Seem fine for this Cologard commercial.

I dunno. I looked back on this thread from last year and it appeared they were discontinuing the RF-82IIs at a pretty good price but did not see the RP series marked down that low.

All I know is that the R line was 50% off during Christmas in July this year. I got a pair of R-15M's for $125...

Agreed,...have never seen the "RP" series discounted to that level...

I seem to have a weird issue with one of my RP280F tweeters. When the first bit of sound comes out of it when I turn them on, there is some crackling for 5 to 10 seconds. Once the crackling stops the speaker is good and there are no issues. Has anyone had this issue or know what might be causing it? Thanks

I turned it on this morning to watch some cable tv and it was fine. Yet the first two times I used it to watch blurays it happened. The wires and metal plates are both good. I'll see if it happens the next time I watch a movie.

What's up everyone. I have a quick question. I currently have a 7.1 klipsch set up I bought almost 2 years ago. The system consist of 2 RP280F, 1 RP450C, 4 RP150M and 1 R115SW. We're currently planning on expanding our home which includes making our living room bigger. I'm considering repurposing the 2 RP150Ms that sit on either side to another room and doing in-wall speakers or RP240-250s, what do you think? I'm forced to keep my 2 rear RP150Ms on stands as there will be no back wall. I also want to add 2 in-ceiling speakers. Which in-wall and in-ceiling speakers would best match my set up to make a 7.1.2 set up.

Thanks again!

I have a feeling he meant to say the RF line. I don't think their current reference line (RP) has ever been on sale at 50% off.

Tomorrow I’m stepping up from all channels driven from my SR 6010 to powering my RP-280’s with a Crown XLS 202. Will I actually hear a difference? The crown from what I’ve read is 200x2 RMS. I got it for under a hundred bucks on Craigslist

-23dB or so on Pandora through the AVR. But when I change to 5ch stereo or DSU I feel like I’m missing some punch mid bass wise that I get through 2ch

Klipschorn R26F Questyion

Hi everyone. First post here so I hope I'm doing this correctly. I just bought a pair of R26 F Towers and although they are very detailed, on some music they can sound a little on the bright side. I've also read in various media that they require 4--50 hours to break in, yet Klipsch says nothing in the manual related to this. What is suppose to be different after 50 hours? Is it for the bass/mid range cones? I can't see how you could break in a Tractix Horn. Metal/plastic doesn't need breaking in. Thanks guys and gals.

They will sound the same at 1 hour as they do at 10,000 hours. The only thing breaking in is your ears. While there are some compliance changes in transducers over a short time, it just isn't very audible, if at all. Enjoy your purchase

Adjust the gain to the horns to your liking. I think it is the new owner getting use to a horn. I am always adjusting this on my 7.1 HT system depending on the media source. I have noticed on some Blurays when the voice is too bright from the center I can add some gain to my sub without pausing the movie and going into my AVR EQ. .VMMV on this everyone hears different and as I get older, I LIKE the bright now. :-) Enjoy your new Klipsch and play with the tone controls.

Honestly, without targeting some exact familiar material and knowing what spl level you are listening makes it hard to accurately compare how it sounds with/without external amplification...Most people seem to think they hear differences but when you read anecdotes online it's hard to interpret if they actually got some benefit or they believe they got some benefit because they have read they are supposed to. Theoretically, if you are using a/several subwoofers for the lower end and set a crossover your AVR should be able to handle the rest unless you are hearing distortion.

i have it in and re ran audyssey. I know some peeps say you can’t hear a difference, but I definitely have more punch. And the highs just seems crisper with more detail than what I had before. Even the imaging in 2 ch seems to have more depth. Not really louder just like you can hear it and there is less effort being used

Thank you for your input my friend. I set up the system with Audyesy (spelling is wrong I'm sure) so I thought all settings should be good. The only way I could adjust the horn without affecting the other two speakers would be to bi-amp with the two channels I'm not using and I really do not want to run more wires under the floor in my crawl space. I'm not real real big on movie sound and I'm still listening to 5.1. :-) I do enjoy two channel stereo for audio CDs. The TX-NR626 is bright sounding to begin with so that does not help much. Wish I would have stayed with Denon or Marantz. I am older also and I do enjoy the improved detail from the horns.

I am glad you are happy with your purchase because that's what it's all about...That said, I highly recommend anyone wondering if they actually would benefit from an external amp start off with knowing at what SPL they listen to their favorite material so they will have an objective place to experiment--Unless your material is clipping the amp, adding more power shouldn't change the dynamics of the speaker except at louder volume. That's my take. Regardless, enjoy!

Yes, I think I will have to get into Audyssey and tweak the high end a little. Movies and TV sound good though, no bright harshness to it. Maybe my not so state of the art CD player is at fault. :-)
