Thanks for the insight!

Yup, in the US. Any concern about the RP-280F's drowning out the center? I did find a pair of them on ebay from an authorized distributor for $700, not one of the two you mentioned (WWS). Only issue is they are in cherry and I am guessing my wife would prefer black. SVS outlet doesn't currently have the 2000 in their outlet store. Really trying to not go over the budget on these.

WWS and One Call are also authorized dealers but SD and ASD can usually provide better pricing (you must call however). If you are truly a movie person, do not skimp on the subwoofer. It's the most important component for delivering the LFE in today's blockbuster movies. The PB-2000 has outstanding performance (smooth, powerful, and dynamic) in it's class and price range...a possible second choice would be a HSU VTF-2 MK5. The advantage of the SVS is exemplary support and its Bill of Rights policy...returns, trade in, and future upgrades...see comments below:

Note: The Klipsch black finish is a popular favorite but IMO, the cherry finish is furniture grade and gorgeous in person.

Klipschorn placement;

So clearly a corner horn, got it. But is it inadvisable to toe them out a few degrees? A friend just got them set up in a room that's on the small end, 14x16, and only the 14' wall works. The sound at the LP seems to be very focused at the phantom center, and each speaker, with seemingly nothing between the PC and speakers (his complaint, not mine). After I left he said that toeing *only one* speaker out a few degrees was the best approach which I thought was even more strange. Not to mention there's not enough drugs that would help the OCD that would cause me but it's his system. lol

A big thank you to the forum members that shared and discussed open boxes, "chip and dents", and the clearances. Not only did I find the center channel I want (RP-450c), the info shared on this thread allowed me to stay way below budget. It also allowed me to buy a pair of JBL s38II on CL with the savings I've learned about here Thanks guys!

Are Klipsch's R-11X subwoofers sticking around as Klipsch's premium subwoofer offerings, aside from the THX sub anyway? Just bought a pair of RP-140sa to add to my RP 5.1 setup before I can't find them anymore.

R-11x is replaced by SPL series. New look, same flavor.

Do you mind sharing which vendor(s) you purchased the open box/chip and dent speakers from? I've read that the speakers are actually brand new in the original boxes and wrapping and don't appear to be "open box" at all. Was that the case with you?

Glad you were able to score some good stuff on eBay. I've been considering doing the same.

I purchased from Sound Distributors. They sell the RP450c $325 plus tax on both Ebay and Amazon. I asked the vendor about scratches, blemishes, etc, and Eric responded quickly that it's perfect and will have the full warranty.

It will arrive in a few days. Hopefully it'll be ok.

I have yet to read a post on this thread that the open boxes or "chip and dents" are damaged or something like that. It looks like we both have the same concerns regarding that one.

The "full warranty" might only be a few months, someone else on this thread was saying that their open box warranty was only a few months, even though he was assured it was a full warranty. Don't know if that applies to the "scratch and dent", but I wouldn't be surprised. I think the discount is worth it, and the fact is that repairing these speakers is pretty easy, and the parts aren't super expensive if you have to do an out of warranty repair. I replaced a tweeter on an RF-82 II under warranty, it was easy.

Spoiler!

Is the R115 sticking around, since there's not an SPL replacement?

Yeah I have my eye on the 450C. I'm still debating the purchase since I will only have about 2.5" inches of space behind the speaker on the shelf below my TV. However, the sides of the TV stand are open and the back panel is mesh. Decisions...

Any reviews on the RP-600M?

Also, for a center channel to pair with 600M, should I be looking at 504/404C? Or at 600/500C?

I actually found a local dealer selling these things for MSRP, so all my previous ELAC and KEF plans are out the window now since I can just buy locally without any shipping or customs hassle.

For the center, you may want to consider placement logistics. For my setup it works much better having the wider 450C where I can place my TV directly on top of the center. On the other hand, some people place the center inside a cabinet or stand where the four-woofer model is too wide.

This is a new hobby for me so i wanted to pick everyone's brain on a few things. My current setup looks like this:

Fronts: r28fs
Center: 62ii
Sub: r115sw
Side Surrounds: Fluance XLBP Bipoles
Atmos: Polk rc80i
AVR: Denon s730h

After having the r25c for a little while, i just recently upgraded to the 62ii. A major factor of me going to that upgrade and not a 450c was the 62ii is front ported (my center channel is mounted on the wall under my projector screen). I just recently heard from someone that it doesn't matter for the center, is that accurate? I still have the ability to return the 62ii and get the 450c if so.

I am planning on upgrading the r28f to rp280f. I learned from the center channel upgrade that the RP line is night and day difference with the reference line.

Klipsch RP-280F

Hello,

I have a question regarding the Klipsch RP-280F. Does anyone know if Klipsch will stop making these? If so, should I go ahead and pull the trigger on a set? I see a system on sale from an online Klipsch dealer that contains 2 RP-280F, 1 RP-450C, 2 RP-250S, 2 BIC/Acoustech Platinum Series PL-200 II Subwoofer and 1 Marantz 7011 receiver for $2800. Is this a good deal and should I search for other deals?

Thank you

The RP series has been replaced by a slightly improved version. I don't know if it's a great deal or not, but it is definitely a big discount off MSRP, so it is at least some sort of deal. I would say go ahead and buy it, maybe with the plan to sell and replace the BIC subwoofers at some point, as they are not of the same quality as the Klipsch and Marantz. Eyeballing the prices in my head, I would say you are basically getting the Marantz for free....
Make sure the seller is an Authorized Seller for Marantz, else Marantz will not honor the warranty.
Enfuego and Louis Bartay like this.

Probably. I forgot about the ebay codes and didn't wait for one when I purchased my Klipsch, but I tested it out the next time, and it worked. World Wide Stereo is selling pairs of rp-280f for a really good price, and that coupon should bring it down even more. I did a real quick look, so there might be other deals, but with that code, now would be a good time to purchase. It's just a super bargain at about $600/pr w/coupon.
Btw, I answered this the next day, so the coupon should be live as I post.

Spoiler!

Down and face angle of surround speakers

I am considering a variety of speakers as surrounds. I read on hear that the down angle of the RP140SA is apx 22*. Does anyone know if the new RP41SA or RP500SA are any different? I have a somewhat tricky application, with a large somewhat oddly shaped room, with a cathedral ceiling. Kind of hoping for something with more down angle or that can be mounted on the ceiling, to use as Atmos speakers, Like the SVS Prime Elevations.

Also considering the new RP502S and RP402S, for surrounds and wondering what the angle of the faces are relative to each other? I'm guessing their the same as the older RP250S and 240S? Looks to be 90* and while that will work better for me than my 8 year old Apearion's, I'd still like to see something a little more opened up or flatter, like 120*

Time for a Sub upgrade......not by choice

Lost my current Klipsch sub due to a power surge. Time to start researching a new one. Will most likely go with another Klipsch.

There were 2 authorized Klipsch vendors that lots of folks here deal with for getting great deals when you call for current stock and prices. One was Sound Distributors (where i got an AWESOME deal on my RC-64 a while back).

But I can't remember the other one. Acoustic something? Can anyone jog my memory on this please?

Acoustic Sound Design

I would also consider Rythmik, JTR, PSA, HSU, SVS and Monoprice Monolith.

Spoiler!

Thats the one I was trying to remember. Thanks! And thanks for the suggestions on other brands. Truth is, I probably can't do anything till the first of the year.
So I have PLENTY of time to research and consider all options. Only limited by the budget.

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 Plasma 55"
Oppo BDP-203 Blu Ray, Toshiba A30 HD DVD
Onkyo RZ-900 Receiver (7.1 Config)
Klipsch R28F, RC64ii, RS400, RB600, R-12SW Sub
Mac Mini/PS3/Wii, Harmony Smart Control

So is the Klipsch RP-140SA sold out? I ordered those on Amazon Germany last week, but still there is no ETA when it will be shipped. Did Klipsch stop manufacturing them?

So I adopted a puppy two weeks ago. Came home from work last night to find she decided the front cover of the SW looked good enough to eat or at least to chew apart. 😡 Anyway, wondering if anyone knows if I can get a new cover from Klipsch.
