I can certainly see why they added the auto so you could have the best of both worlds without having to do Sub + Main and risking bloated bass.
I have to pick sometimes between Direct and Pure Direct (no sub) depending on the music. I can certainly hear a difference between the 2 in critical listening. But that is why I choose big tower speakers and big amps in the first place, I wanted a full range stereo with no bass loss long before subwoofers were common.
I imagine now days with a big properly tuned subwoofer tower speakers are not as much needed, but I have little to no experience with that

Music, more music.

I don't use subwoofers with music, I like my towers. Sometimes the bass still too much for me.

If I didn't have my Rythmik subwoofers, I would be very happy with the bass my RP280f produce for music. However, there is no doubt that for me, my music sounds even better with the subwoofers on. This is the first time I've owned a system where I could play my music loudly with a little extra bass(+ 4db on the subwoofers) without distortion. I love the combo. Right now listening to multi channel music(specifically, 5.1 mix of The Beatles "While My Guitar Gently Weeps") very ungently with my 4 RP280f, RP450c and 2 Rythmik F18.

YPAO set mines to -3.5, but I had to use "Volume trim" to "-6dB", because the bass was too strong (with movies).

For those that have updated or heard both. Is there much difference between the RP6000f and bigger RP8000F? I’ll have a sub obviously... so just curious if it’s noticeable in movies with the larger set? Center channel will be the 504c as well.

I have RP8000F in the front, RP504c center and RP-6000F as my surrounds. I can tell a difference if music for sure but the 6000 is no slouch. I just wanted to have the best I could get for my fronts. The 6000 in the rear are overkill for sure for HT, but I got the pair for $500 so couldn't resist. I would say if you have the room though, get the 8000.

The big difference will be how loudly it will handle the mid bass and bass. Higher limits. Other than that, should sound the same. You will have to play insanely loudly to ferret out the differences.

So I finally bought the new speakers....

RP8000f
RP504c
RP402s

All in Walnut finish, which I was extremely worried was going to look like cheap Radio Shack speakers for the 70’s ha.

But they arrived and they look extremely “rich” especially in a non bright room.

Unfortunately the 8000’s were damaged in shipping I assume. On booth the aluminum base had a corner lopped off. 😞

I have to say I wanted MartinLogan Motion 20 or 40s but couldn’t live with glossy lacquer finish. So I started looking elsewhere.

These 8000s don’t sound as warm as the MartinLogans for sure. But I feel the RP speakers are clearer and offer better dialogue.

Oh and damn the front speakers and center speaker are HUGE! Which I think helps with the big sound ha.

I haven’t wired the sides yet. But so far very impressed!

No sub yet - not sure what I’ll get if I will even add one right away. Might add a pair of RP500sa speakers....

Just impressed with these.

Congrats! Just finished getting mine setup!
600m
504c
402s
500sa
Hsu vtf-3 mk5

And they rock! You would be much better off getting a sub(x2) than the 500sa's. Leave the 500sa's for the last purchase. Subs will make a bigger difference in quality of sound.

Klipsch owner thread

Decided to hold off on Atmos for now so I just ordered 8000’s, a 540c and a pair of 600m’s. Plan on having 4 PRO-160-RPC’s in the future and trying to decide if I want to stick with 7.2.4 or bump to 9.2.4 for front wides in my rectangular room for PRO-160–RPW’s. Also ordered two HSU VTF-3 MK5’s, can’t wait to get it all setup...hopefully before my wife sees the boxes so she can hear it first hehe.

RP 160M VS 600M actual height

The RP 160M is shown as 16.67"
The RP 600M is shown as 15.69"

Is the difference just the base on the 160M? It doesnt look to be 1" of base plate.

Will an amp make Klipsch Icon speakers sound better than my Yamaha RX v675? They sound pretty good buy I'm curious if that can be improved on.

Picked up a rp450c to replace my rp250c. Wow what a difference. This thing is HUGE for a center speaker . Been working my butt off having to get ready for the hurricane so I haven't been able to really test it out yet. Hope to be able to do it tomorrow.

Finally got my five new speakers setup 🙂

RP8000f
RP504c (Damn it’s big but sooo nice)
RP402s

Very impressive and well all very big ha.

Question is I have the fronts towed in a bit. But if you are sitting in my sofa (2 person recliner theatre style) on the left side you only hear the left and center - right seat same right and center... that’s if it’s standard audio IE no directed sound just people talking

I can’t nor do I want to toe in any more as then one side has less audio. It seems almost laser pointed

Is that how these are? And it’s normal?

Wanted to get some recommendations/thoughts:
I’m looking at possibly upgrading my center (currently have RC 62 ii and RP-260F fronts and will have an x4500h shortly) - should I be looking at a 404C / 504c or maybe at 450C? Or is it better to just stick with what I’ve got

Thanks in advance!

External amps doesn’t improve sound quality, they increase your dynamic range as you creep the volume towards reference. For those of us that run their speakers at or close to reference, an external amp is in most cases a must. I run my system between -5 and reference, so I’m external all the way.

I'm looking to sell my home theater and was wondering if someone could give me an idea of how much my stuff is worth? All the stuff, other the subwoofer which was bought in 2009, was bought around 2003. If I am guessing correctly, the only things with any real value are the speakers and the subwoofer. The TV, DVD player, and A/V receiver are practically worth nothing these days.

Im thinking of upgrading my living room 5.1.2 setup with Klipsch RP6000F as fronts replacing my bookshelf JBL studio 230. My living room is 21.5 ft. long by 11.5 ft wide. Does anyone know if that is too small a space to accommodate the Rp6000F? I mostly use my system for 85% streaming and blu ray dvd watching and about 15% music listening . I will be running a sub with the Klipsch unless that is too much bass. I live in a condo on the second floor so I have to be a bit cautious. thanks for your help.

Your room is more than capable of accommodating the RP6000F. My dedicated HT is 12x17 and I have RF-7 II’s in there.

It’s hard to say exactly. My best recommendation would be to use the completed listing feature on eBay. Type in the item you want to sell and then on the left select completed listings and it will show what similar items have sold for recently.

Considering there is an avid following still for the original RF-7’s, I’m sure you will get a good deal for the set.

Now that Seaton SubMersive should fetch a pretty penny! If I hadn’t just spent an arm and a leg on my HT, I would take that off your hands in a heartbeat.

I have Klipsch KG 5.5 towers for my front speakers. Wondering if Polk S60s would be a noticeably better setup? Open to any thoughts.

What all is different between the 504C and 450C? They looked pretty identical looking at the specs - and can get a much better deal on a 450C

I was in the same boat. The tweeter I believe is a little different. I read it uses different material. I was unsure if pairing it with the 600m with the most recent tweeter would matter.

But I went with the much better deal on the 450c and have been very happy. My .02

From what I could discern, the 504c is the newer model of the 450c. I would personally go with the better priced unit, as specs look identical to me.
