It's part of the tuning. The acoustic engineers ended up preferring this particular combination of damping materials behind the woofer, and we decided to go with what we believed sounded best, over what would look least "janky" in the product photos :-)

Haha, no worries, I bought a pair anyway. Bring on janky if it sounds good

Nice find. I've been doing some experimenting with the S40s and realized, in my room, they actually sound best with no toe in. They are a bit closer to each other then they are from my listening position.

I did the same today Drew, after watching that video...but with the Sopras.I now have them 5 feet from the front wall,7.5 feet apart, and three feet from the side walls.I must say,it is night and day better, imaging and soundstage is spectacular now. These speakers might just of found a new home,no rush to decide though.

Watched the video and I'm off about a foot with speakers a seating position. That 5 part rule is not a hard rule but I'm close enough I think to not move anything. Using my ears I think I've got it setup pretty good. Good info on the video.

I moved mine about 6 inches outwards each, and forward about 12 inches, and it is quite a difference, for the better. What I Did is put masking tape on the floor where the original position was,in case I want to move back to the exact spot...no,they are staying here.I think my main issue that was wrong, was that I had the same distance from the front and side walls before the move.

Speaker placement is underrated. We sometimes hear things like a speaker being placement-friendly. A few inches can do a lot for any speaker, in reality. I've got an equilateral six-foot triangle. I haven't measured my distances from the front wall and side walls, though they're different. I've got absorption traps for first-order reflections on both side walls and a fabric-based listening/easy chair with a high head rest that shields my head from rear reflections. Has made a significant difference in reducing smearing and linearity across the audio band.

What I found amazing about the C20s when I saw/heard them at my dealers house...he only had them about 4.5 feet apart, and they still sounded real good.He had a pair of Neats set up outside them, and does not have a lot of room there.
Dyns seem to sound good wherever you plop them down really, but it still pays to get positioning right.

Can't wait to hear them. Looks like Tuesday will be the day. I already got the Stand 6 with the adapter plates. These are nice looking stands and much beefier. The S40s are looking and sounding killer on them.

Yeah, when I saw the grey C20s last year, I knew I had to have them. I love curved cabinets. I wish there was a grey/black Sopra 1.

Do you have to put screws into the speakers with the C20 plate?

The Contour 20 has inserts in the bottom of the speaker designed for this purpose.

Goodmorning Everyone,

i'm not a native english speaker so be mercifull with my bad english please

I am a Dynaudio Xeo 2 new owner! i just bought them last week and mounted them a couple of days ago on their official stands.

I have problem with these leds constantly blinking if there is no music playing even for a single second.
I founded this article by Dynaudio.
and i quote
Quote:
Night Mode
The new feature Night Mode lets you ‘turn off’ the Xeo 2’s LEDs, which will be music to your ears if you like watching movies in the dark – now, the Xeo 2s won’t stand out like two lighthouses guide your gaze away from the TV screen.

To put your Xeo 2s into Night Mode, press and hold the ‘OFF’ button on your remote for five seconds. Now, the LEDs will only light up when you change volume, switch input or turn them off.
I am doing it with my remote (i received it in bundle) but the leds turn red and the music stops like in sleep mode.

Dunno how to fix this issue and i dont want to use black tape to cover the led

This is my first active speaker, all the other speakers (even Dynaudio ones) that i have are passive so be patient but i am a newbe

Thanks everyone in advance!

Hi,welcome
I do not own Xeo 2s,but do own XD 600s...I would check that your Xeos are up to date with firmware updates. There is a chance that this was added later than the firmware you are using. The official Dynaudio website is where you find the updates. All you will need is a USB stick, they provide information on how to do it with the update.Click on support at the top of the page>firmware updates>Xeo 2>There is a zip file there that you should download
Good luck.

Hey! Thanks a lot for the quick reply!

i have already done the firmware update with a brand new usb stick by the way i tried to use the clock of my phone to be sure that was exactly 5 seconds (not me counting) and it worked!
so now the led turn on (purple and white) during the volume changes!

I am so glad it works fine!
I have to be carefull with my phone position on the desk cause i'm using the Xeo 2 as desktop speakers but for the rest they are truly awesome. they sound even a little better than my sennheiser headset (it has the driver oh the HD 555 so a pretty good headset) and we know ho hard it is to sound better than and headphone.

the Emit 20 i own have more bass but for me the Xeo 2 is absolutly one of the best desktop speaker in the market nowadays.
And during my research is the only "Hi-Fi" suitable for this task! All the others are perfect only in really narrow nichtes use or are active monitor speaker that i am afraid they can be too much reveling about the difects of the files we use everyday in a common use.

about that i have to ask if there is a way to tweak tremble. i know there are 3 setup "normal, wall, corner" cause i would like to reduce it a little. thanks again!

Glad you sorted that out, mine is set the same way on my XDs...so you only see the lights when changing volume etc.As far as treble goes,my XDs have a switch for treble, plus or minus 1db,or none,I thought the Xeo would have the same. From what I remember though,I think this switch only works with analog sources.

Today finally i have some time to spend at home and i am testing the speakers.

i dunno why my left speaker , the slave one, every 20 mins or so it pops. Seems an electric interference. The right one, the master one, is placed close to the desktop pc and it has no problem.

The sound comes from the tweeter. i am VERY worried!

HELP PLEASE!

Is the slave wired? If so make sure it's not routed near any power cables. Also if wired use a dryer sheet to wipe down the cable to eliminate any static build up. If you don't have any dryer sheets mix up a couple drops of dish soap in a liter of water and soak a rag in it and wipe down the cables.

A long shot but it doesn't cost very much. Also if there is a heater vent make sure it's not blowing on the cable. That too will cause a static build up.

A long shot but it doesn't cost very much. Also if there is a heater vent make sure it's not blowing on the cable. That too will cause a static build up.
The slave have only one wire, the power one. They master "speak" with him wireless.
There is no vent near or blowing on it and ok i will try to wipe the cable for an elettrostatic accumulation.

The silly part is that the master is near the pc and the pc has his own rear exhaust fan close to him and no problem.

i have to do more test but it seems that the problem happens only at high volume.

thanks again!

Heck, not a newbie, but found a couple of good nuggets in there that helped me tweak things with my 60's. Opened up the soundstage a bit in my case.

The problem is the master is loosing connection with the slave or the Dynaudio connect is loosing connection with the slave. Are you using a Connect??
