Careful Drew. Mike Lang the mod said some folks are derailing this thread by discussing other products that are not specific to this thread with that being Dyn's. IMO it's a shame because Dyn's have no sound without an amp - source or cables. Dynaudio makes some great speakers where the SQ varies which appeals to a wider variety of customers. Not many speaker companies do that.

Interesting, however my next TT will be a Schiit Sol, which should be coming soon and will for sure sound awesome on my Dynaudio C4s...

I didn't realize Schiit made TTs. I'm sure it would sound especially good on the Focus 140s I used to own, or maybe the Special 40s if I ever decide to try a pair.

I have a very casual interest in TT, similar to my interest in tune amps. It would be fun to play around with, but I imagine it's less accurate to the producer/mixer's vision of what the sounds should be like (which would sound great on Dynaudio speakers)

It's been in the works for a little over the year now. According to Mike Moffat all the parts have been ordered for the first article so it shouldn't be long now... If it works as well with my Dynaudio equipment as their other products have, it should be a match made in Heaven...

I don't have a giant collection of records however I do like to spin them occasionally when I'm in the mood.

IMO a pottery wheel can sound great when set up properly. If not they sound worse than a $50 cd player. My brother in law had a basic setup and it wasn't until he got a decent phono stage and MC cartridge did it surpass the sound of a CD. Clicks and pops excluded. Better get back to Dyns before someone complains.

Very true. I had given that a good run the other day and loved it. Granted, I have to listen on KEF LS50 speakers rather than Dynaudio but it still works real well.

KEF R500, R200C, R100, R50, SVS SB2000 sub, NAD T758v3 AVR, LG UP875 4K BlueRay, Samsung UN55JU6500F 4K LED TV, KEF M500 headphones, Sony CDP-CE500 CD changer. Office: NAD M10, KEF LS50, KEF Kube 10b, Pro-Ject RPM1 TT w/ Ortofon 2M Red. Guest room: Hafler 300 L-R, KEF Reference Model 100 center, KEF iQ10 surrounds, modded M&K V-90 sub, Bluesound Vault 2.

Drew,
I have most of Bob Marley's albums.

Sadly, he passed away too young. He was only 36. (He died from a strange form of melanoma).

Don't get too hung up on this MQA BS.

I'm a rapid typer, so in my exuberance I didn't type the "r" in your name. So, going forward I will address you as Geo or Horgay (Spanish pronunciation of GeoRge).

Hey, it's all in good fun!!

I'd been waiting for these to be released since hearing about them in September 2017. I've been a fan of Dynaudio since my first ever set about 14 years ago (System 220 MkII - in car). I now own a full set of Contour 1.8mkII mains and some 1.3mkII's for surrounds. I also have Contour 1.1 for my PC and a spare set of Audience 42w which I'm keeping for some other use (great sound with a port on the front - that's pretty rare). There are also some Evidence Masters on ebay that I'm having to pretend I don't know about, I so want them.

So anyway, after waiting so long I finally bought a Music 3, I wanted something with a battery and this seemed best value - the Music 1 has smaller and fewer drivers, at only £50 more (£515 vs £575) I felt I was getting more for my money with the 3.

To be honest, while it sounds very good for a Bluetooth speaker and it's not distorted or anything, it does sound like it's struggling when you turn up the volume. I'm pretty disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't sound terrible but it isn't "blow you away with clarity" material like I usually find with Dynaudios. The Sonos Play 5 I bought my sister a couple of years before, while not being quite as clear as the Music, it has FAR superior bass, I've no idea what they did to make that so good in that department.

Like I say, the Music doesn't sound bad but it doesn't really feel like a typical Dynaudio to me. I'm almost wishing I bought 2 Music 1's for stereo listening but after this I realistically I doubt that would have made much difference.

Thanks for your insight, I had thought about getting one for my little workshop so I could re-purpose my BM Compacts, but it sounds like that would be too much of a step back, the BM Compacts work quite well out especially when coupled to a cheap $99 Polk Audio sub...

There has been very little,if any feedback on the music speakers,so thanks for your thoughts. Hopefully this will not get banned, but here goes...I have heard the Naim Muso, and Muso QB,and both sound really good, with lots of bass, even at loud volume. Some Muso owners even describe tham as excellent party speakers. It is a little disappointing to hear the Musiic speaker might be lacking, since the other Dyn actives are quite good.

What are you all using for PC speakers? Near field? I am always keeping my eyes open for something priced less than X14A/Xeo2. Dynaudio Lyd?

Current HiFi: Dynaudio Focus 260 | Schiit Modi2 Multibit (Black) | NAIM SuperNait 2
Cables: Chord Cobra VEE3 RCA>DIN | Tellurium Q Black 3M

Past HiFi: Dynaudio Excite X16 | Dynaudio Focus 160 | Harman Kardon HK3490 | NAIM XS2 (70w)

I use little Focal CMS40 on my desktop. It's a nice change of pace but I prefer the Dynaudio vibe more in the main system.

LG OLED65E8 | Plinius Hiato | Dynaudio Contour 20 | Dynaudio Stand 6 | REL T/9i | PS Audio DirectStream Junior | Furman IT-Reference 15i | Sony PS4 Pro | Synology DS916+ | Apple TV 4K | BDI Mirage | NEEO | Focal Shape 40 | iFi Pro iDSD | iFi Pro iRack | roon

Focus XD 200, which is a little crazy but quite effective!

You need to keep in mind that with the XEOs you are getting a preamplifier as well as a DAC in the package. The LYDs don't offer that, so at the end of the day are no less expensive. It is not unheard of to find Xeo3s for less than $900 used.

The Xeo3 for example is much closer in desktop performance to the Xd20/200s that it is to the Audioengine A2 for comparison. It represents the point of diminishing returns imo. Xeo2 I havent heard, but I am sure it is quite good as well.

You could also take a look for Quad 9as, which are quite good and likely close to the Xeo2. They were pretty easily had for less than $500 not long ago.

Hey Chris Tyler will have the new Dyn's at Axpona next year but in a standard room. He will have 3 rooms. One for the new Borresen speaker another for Kudos (these are really great for the money - to me they sound like a cross between Dyn's and the better Raidho's) and the new Confidence. Not sure what speakers he will demo or what amp he will use. My vote is the Octave V80se with black box or super black box.

Don't get too hung up on this MQA BS.
Don't knock it until you try it. It is the best available sound quality via streaming until Qobuz launches in the US.
