The 1038Be is a really nice speaker. My only complaints:

1) They struggle playing ~some~ tracks at higher output levels, sounding like they're distorting. I posted about this a few years ago here, but the sample track where it happened every time was Paper Airplane by Alison Krauss & Union Station on the Paper Airplane album. My Revel Salon2's don't exhibit the same problem with the same electronics (source, surround sound processor, and amps). Otherwise, the 1038Be's are excellent sounding speakers.

2) While I generally love the appearance of the Electra line and feel that the cabinet build and finish quality are superb, I'm not a huge fan of how they attached the grill covers. There's a little tab that sticks out the needs to be pulled to take the covers off. If that tab ever breaks, good luck taking the covers off without damaging something.

I still have the 1038Be's in my home office system and a pair of 1008's (not Be) in my bedroom.

I did a quick scan through that review. The reviewer mentioned that the magnetically attached grill covers on the tweeters should be removed - I don't believe the manual suggests doing that, but it is possible that could be the source of the distortion I hear on that problematic track. It's something I'll try to remember to give a go when I have an opportunity to play some music loud again. I had reported the issue to both my dealer and Focal and neither had an answer.

instead of giving my thoughts on the rotel integrated as I suck at english/writing...lol this review https://forum.audiogon.com/discussio...ifiers-side-by is an idea of what I generally agree on. I think Im gonna get my blown nad amp fixed and continue with avr and nad amps bridged. I love this setup when its working 100%. been listenning to rotel/lrs/subs all day and the rotel isnt quite enough power for my lrs compared to bridged nads...but its 90db good.

might as well throw in a sloppy pic...havent cleaned the home in a bit. since pandemic...bad, bad boy lol.

If you prefer the sound of the NAD, I would definitely get the NAD amps fixed. I've been researching D-Sonic Amps for my next project.

Oh yeh, you need the NADs for the LRS. A friend on mine brought over his Maggie, I literally had to crank my amp 3/4 up to even get it loud enough.

Why don't you hook up the good NAD and use it while waiting for the other one to be fixed? One is plenty for the system.

yup...the maggies need the juice. Im enjoying the rotel for now...it does have a rich/full sound. my large room needs all the help it can get with reverb/harmonics.

Hmmm
I saw that. I recently bought a pair for $1000, but they included the S900 stands for free. They now have the 926 for $899/each. Crazy.

The US imposed tariffs on imported French goods in March so prices increased dramatically.

I am so glad I bought my pair already, don't have to worry about tariffs, inflation and all. I am good for a long long time. Maybe I will need a better pair......in the next life!!!

I just bought, received and hung up my 82" Samsung tv. Just wait for the new tv stand to arrive. Now big boss cannot even complain it looks clutter anymore!!!

Did I ever mention I got rid of my old 72" real projection Mitsubishi big console? It was too good to throw it away, turn out a friend on mine that is a pastor needs a big tv screen to do their sermon, he came and took it!!! I was free of guilt of wasting money!!!! I hurry up and bought the new one. It was cheap too, I paid only $1700 from Amazon.....for 82".

I have been really enjoying this rotel integrated amp. no audyssey, no rew, no dsp, no tone controls...I have no idea how it measures. but I did just order a usb printer cable to hook up my laptop to it and do some rew...maybe next week have some time. Im curious to how it measures vs my pretty smooth avr. I dont know if I like it better cause its new or what...I highly doubt its cause it measures better.

The only thing that matters is how it sounds to you! Enjoy and let us know what you find out.

Don't even worry about measuring, there's only one valid measurement...............Your ears, nothing else matter. When you catch yourself with a grin on your face and your body rocking to the music, that's the most accurate measurement.
