how could you tell if your current receiver will support the SP3? and when watching HT or music, does it act as a separate volume knob or like a gain in a car amp?

Just run the analoge outs from the Cd player to the amp when your using it and run it to your receiver when your using it,I would'nt run anything thru a receiver with all digtal chips to hamper the sound to the SP-3.

Well, I officially own a pair of X-ls(satin black) but haven't heard or even seen them yet, that will change in two months thankfully. I am currently looking for another set along with a X-CS to make a complete set.

nah there used to be a slew of threads about them here. they ahve all become distant memory which is a GOOD thing. I was around during that entire "fiasco" and lets say that I am surprised at the civility of this thread so far.

The mods have really stepped up the security on the owners threads,so whoever doesent own something in the owners threads or are buying usually arent allowed in them.

Is anyone receiving X-ls in black? I ordered mine on Jan 29 but they haven't shipped yet. My Ascends 170SE arrived today and I'll be comparing them with my 1988 Speakerlab 1s, the HTD L3s and of course the x-ls if they come in time. Given recent comments I'm excited to hook up the ascends when I get home from work tonight. Rock.

I believe a short run of x-ls will be leaving next week...

The Speakerlab quote makes me feel great... I used to sell them turntables back in the late 70's... Steve Williams ran them as I recall... GREAT GUY... He went on to be President of JBL...

Hope we make it there in time for this demo...

All the best...

The creator of the thread (mod) may want to put some generic information in the first post (models, website info, etc)

My Ref 1s were delivered today. I only got a chance to unpack them and let me tell you they look absolutely stunning. Superb build quality and finish. They do come with a pair of white cotton gloves and speakers are wrapped in cotton sleeves. One look at them and I was glad that it came with gloves as I wouldn't want to have fingerprint all over it.

Unfortunately I won't to be able to connect them tonight as I have to leave for work (some work related issues, so have to be on site tonight and perhaps most of the day tomorrow). Man, Talk about bad timing ...

It is going to be hard to wait till weekend, but I don't have any option.

I didn't a pair of gloves with my Ref 1's I figured the gloves were reserved for the towers. The speakers did come in the cotton bags however.

I found them after I took both speakers out of the box. A pair of gloves may not be a big deal, but they do tell you something about a company's way of doing business.

I am really glad to see this thread started again after such a long time of its absence. Maybe now all the questions about AV123 speakers lines might get consolidated into here. I hope the administration ( Mr Bott ) will not object to this thread. I believe this will be very informative for anyone looking for information regarding this product line.

I hope everyone abides by the rules & this thread stays alive.

Thanks again,
Dennis

I have a pair of RS450's and the bigfoot. I much prefer them to my Axiom M80's and VP150 in my lively living room. The surrounds are JBL in Ceiling speakers. Low end is covered by the SVS PB12/plus 2 and the HO from HSU. Actually the HO and Axioms are at a friends theater room at this time.

Okay, I'll play! I must admit I haven't posted here in ages. As any of you know, I've pretty much jumped head first into Mark's pool of sweet, sweet Kool-Aid! My home theater has taken on five or six different configurations in just 12 months, all with AV123 products. And my 2-Channel rig has involved three different AV123 speaker pairs. Oh, yeah, and I'm still beta testing the AV123 Sputnix Sat/Sub 2.1 PC speaker system for Mark!

Here's my current HT Rig:

I am seriously considering the x-ls for my new Yamaha HTR-5960 receiver. I'll most likely be placing my order once my tax refund comes in.
Anyone here driving these with a Yamaha receiver?

I just purchased the RS1000 Rocket Package yesterday and I'm picking them up Today (as I live in Denver)! Do any of the Rocket owners out there have a preferred break in procedure etc?

Also I have a real crappy sub right now that only goes to 35hrz and isn't too clean IMHO, do you think I should still run it as a LFE for the rear surrounds (RSS300 Dipoles) as their response only goes to about 60hz or should I just leave it out of the picture?

This is all of course temporary until a real sub can be purchased.

This is great, a new Rocket Forum Here!... Have not had one for years... I too hope people will remain civil and remember that Rockets are great speakers but just because you love them does not mean the next persons ear will. I am all for debate but again I think we (all us Rocket owners) will be treated here if we abide by the golden rule in speaking to others.
