I finally get all speakers, placed the atmos speakers at the ceiling and now good to go for atmos 5.1.4.
I have JBL ES 100 for fronts, center studio c235 and for surrounds studio 230,overhead speakers are pyle pcıd 60.My avr is yamaha rx-a 3070.
I m not a pro actually a newbie...and this is my first time with atmos set up.Before I had 5.1 and 7.1 systems.
so guys what is your recommendation for setting up atmos?I mean I will mark fronts and center as big and surrounds as small speakers.. after that do I need to do more advanced settings?for example speaker hz? If I can than would you tell me the optimal settings for my speaker system?

In case anyone that hasn't seen this that would greatly like an external perspective on JBL's Arena 130 bookshelves, here is my official review when compared to a much more expensive pair of Ascend Acoustics CMT340's. Pssssst, I'll let you in on a secret, they do surprisingly well

I have 3 JBL 308 for LCR and two Arena`s 130 for surrounds.
I would like to buy 2 speakers for atmos.

What would you recommend me ?
Unfortunately budget is very tight.

Receiver: Onkyo TX-NR809
Front: JBL E100
Center JBL N Center II
Front Wides: JBL L820
Surround: JbL N26II
Sub: Sony SAWM40

Just to follow up, i was able to obtain a ec35 center in excellent like new condition for a very reasonable price on ebay. As i had hoped this center is a great upgrade over the n center for mc music in my system. I am extremely happy with how my system sounds and having fun going thru my music collection and enjoying the results. Johnny14o, I did consider an LC2 but it is a giant speaker which would be pretty difficult to integrate into my setup and maintain WAF. Thanks to everyone for their advice.

That’s great news on the EC35! You should be happy for some time to come.

Try the LC2 for a center

[QUOTE=BrianML;56898920]Hello,

Hi, I also have JBL E(S)100 fronts (and love them!), but I've been using a JBL LC2 as my center for several years now and find if a great addition to the home theater.
If you can find one still I'd recommend that...

The Insane Pink Care Bear's Home Theater Set Up:

Marantz AV 8801 Processor, Emotiva XPR-5 Amplifier, Panasonic 65" ST30 Plasma, Yamaha BD-S2900 Blu-ray, Yamaha CDC-697 CD Player, Yamaha TT-500U Turntable, w/Signet TK5e, JBL ES100 Fronts, JBL LC2 Center, JBL ES30 Surrounds & 2 JBL ES250P Subwoofers

Since these centers get mentioned a lot, here's a visual guide to which is which.

Upper Left: EC25
Upper Right: EC35
Bottom: LC2

Obviously, they're not exactly to scale, but the driver components are easy to differentiate. The EC25 is the weakest of the three and lacks the critical midrange driver that makes the EC35 a better match for the towers of the same series.

The LC2 is a pretty robust center, though the ribbon UHF driver has always been a fascinating addition, one that's not been repeated. Like the EC35, it has a midrange driver vertically under the tweeter and waveguide, which makes it a good match for towers utilizing similar drivers.

How many threads?

There are so many JBL threads in the AVS Speakers Forum that it's almost impossible to keep track! I can recall when just getting a JBL thread started was an exercise in futility.

Part of the problem is that the search function here regularly fails to find any threads if one simply enters "JBL" in the search box. Of course, that's a limitation of the software, but it's also highly embarrassing that a search for a worldwide brand of loudspeakers can't be conducted by its brand name.

Here's a quick recounting of threads with JBL in the title from the past 30 days of the Speakers Forum:
  1. How Do JBL Studio 590's Stack Up To The Competition?
  2. JBL 'M2' Master Reference Monitor
  3. JBL Studio Series 5 - The Magic Guaranteed
  4. Emotiva T2 vs JBL 590
  5. JBL Stage A190 Tower Speakers Review
  6. JBL 705i/708i (7 Series Master Reference Monitors) & 725G/728G (subwoofers): Jan 2015
  7. Go to first new post JBL Pro One Series 104 Powered Ref. Monitors
  8. JBL Studio Series 5 - The Magic Guaranteed
  9. JBL 4312G Studio Monitor Introduced at CES 2019
  10. Go to first new post JBL S-Center II vs Klipsch R52C vs JBL Studio 235C
  11. Def Tech & JBL front L&R in wall speakers
  12. Just purchased a pair of JBL 4722n speakers.
  13. JBLPro 200 Series Two-Way Screen Array Cinema Loudspeakers
  14. Quick opinions before I buy JBL
  15. jbl 230s
  16. The OFFICIAL JBL Owners Thread
  17. JBL Arena 130 vs... Ascend Acoustics CMT340SE?!?
  18. Emotiva Basx S8 versus JBL 550p Subwoofers
  19. JBL LSR305/308 Appreciation Thread
  20. Jbl100t
  21. Official JBL Synthesis / Pro / Revel Home Theater Thread

Plus there's this additional thread with no brand names in the title that is about the JBL M2 and the Revel Salon2:
Speaker Shootout - two of the most accurate and well reviewed speakers ever made

Altogether, these threads have well in excess of 2,500,000 views, yet none of them can be found by using the search term "JBL" alone. In fact, a search for "JBL Owners Thread" returned 610 results, along with this explanation:

"The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search: JBL"

The link to this thread randomly showed up as the 71st result, deep near the bottom of the third page of results. I doubt anyone is going to persevere that long; rather, they'll just start a new thread like some of the ones in the list above that linger for a week or a month, gather less than 50 replies, and add to the general confusion of the Speakers Forum.

This is not a criticism but an observation that there is a lot of redundancy and dilution taking place that lessens the Speakers Forum's utility. I'm sure there are other examples beyond JBL.

I agree with you. When someone starts a new thread in the receivers and amplifiers section asking for info on a specific model, the mods usually move it to the thread for the brand/model in question, so why can't they do the same in the speakers section?

Need help with Centre Speakers

Hi, I have JBL Studio 270 as my front speakers and am looking for a centre channel speaker on budget (<$200)

I was initially looking for JBL 235c, but with budget constraints I believe JBL Arena 125c could be more in my affordability range.

Does JBL Arena centre speaker work well with JBL Studio front speakers?

Thanks

I haven't tried the Arenas, but the 235c works well with my 590 fronts and 230 overheads. Don't do what I first did and buy a cheaper center, and end up buying the 235c a year later because the lesser center just didn't cut it.

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I guess I will wait for 235c to come up in some sort of deal.

That's what I did. I kept using my old center until there was a sale, which was a several months wait, and finally got about one third off on a 235c special sale.

Agree with the comments. Don't skimp on a center channel. The 235c is solid at its sale price.

I've mounted several speakers to the wall with a clamp type mount that does no damage to the speaker enclosure. I have 6 of the Video Security Solutions Model: MS56B. You can find them on Amazon. I used some thin rubber tape on the mount clamp to make sure I didn't scratch the speaker.

Yeah I don't have them anymore unfortunately and I've tried finding them online with no success.

I did buy the suggested mounts 2 post above, but they do not open wide enough to fit these speakers so I need to return them. There has to be an easier way... Maybe I should looks at brackets at Home Depot or something.

Did you keep the onwer's manual? That's always a good idea. If not, from the owner's manual:

WALL-MOUNTING
Important Safety Notes
• Proper selection of mount-ing hardware and installation of the wall brackets are the responsibility of the customer.
• This product is not intended for ceiling mounting. Two Number 8 roundhead or panhead screws should be used for each loudspeaker.

The screw head should be between 5/16" (8mm) and 1/4"(6.3mm) in diameter, and the screw should be at least 2"(50mm) in length. When installing screws in any wall, it is always preferable to screw them into a wall stud. If none is available, it is important to always use properly selected wall anchors. Attach two of the four self-adhesive rubber pads that came with the loudspeaker to the back of the enclosure in the two bottom corners so that the cabinet is spaced evenly from the wall. Select a suitable mounting location on a wall. (The ceiling is not a suitable mounting location.) Drill two pilot holes, appropriately sized for the specific self-tapping screw or wall anchor that you will be using. A template is included with your loudspeaker that indicates the proper locations fort he pilot holes. In the eventthat the template is missing, refer to this chart:

Model Distance Between Pilot Holes
L810 6" (152mm)
L820 8-1/2" (216mm)
LC21 4-1/2" (368mm)

The holes should be 2-1/4" (57mm) below where you want the top of the enclosure to be positioned. Use a carpenter's level to ensure that the holes are even and that the speaker will mount on the level. Install the two screws into either a wooden wall stud or anchor, and tighten them until the back of each screw head is about 1/8" (3mm) from the wall.

Models L810 and L820 may also be corner-mounted using the keyholes located on the bezeled corners. For corner mounting, fold the mounting template in half, place the fold in the corner at the desired height, and use the outer holes. If the template is missing, for corner mounting drill each pilot hole 7-3/4"(197mm) from the corner formodel L810, or 9-11/16"(246mm) from the corner for model L820.

Install the loudspeaker by slowly moving the cabinet toward the screws so that the screw heads clear the larger circular portion of the two key-holes. Once both screw heads have entered the keyholes, the loudspeaker should gently be lowered onto the screw shafts. Check that the loud-speaker is firmly locked ontothe screws by gently pulling thespeaker down and forward.

Awesome, thanks for posting that! I should've thought to Google search for this.... So basically all I need are screws to mount these speakers?? Anyone familiar with the backs of these speakers, do the metal screws themselves stay in or are they supposed to come out? I'm guessing they stay in and I just need a small enough screw head to fit inside the metal hole?

Hope this makes sense... I feel like I'm probably making this harder than it is lol.

Did you get this figured out? If not, maybe you can grease the wheels with a little more information.
  1. Are you looking for powered speakers?
  2. If not, what's your power source (amp or receiver) and output (Watts at 8 Ohms)?
  3. Are you looking to mount on the ceiling or in the ceiling?
  4. How high is your ceiling and how big is your room?

I'm guessing they stay in and I just need a small enough screw head to fit inside the metal hole?

Hope this makes sense... I feel like I'm probably making this harder than it is lol.
You need the special brackets in order to put screws in the wall, THEN hang the speakers on the screws. The only other way to mount it would be with an aftermarket mount that screws into the holes where the bracket mounts.

Check (download) the manual online. It shows the brackets and the mounting process.

Thanks all, I got them corner mounted on my walls using the ol' tape measure technique. One is a little crooked but only if you look at it for too long

Living Room: Vizio M65-E0, Vizio SB3651-e6 Soundbar, PS4, Roku Premier+, and X Box One X coming soon

Red face

Then don’t look at it!

Seriously, corner mounting is an effective use of them in a small or medium room. Good job with the tape measure.

LOL... the only one that knows its crooked is you. And if anyone asks, just say that you hung it level, and it's the wall that's crooked... LOL.

It’s highly regarded by many who’ve owned it (4.7/5.0 on stereoreview.com). At $60 it’s probably worth a shot if it’s in good shape and the original MOSFET amp still works.

PRX735 help

Hey all,

I have 2 PRX735's that are having a few sound issues.

First one is I have my XLR and power cord hooked up properly. I play music and I can barely hear anything coming out. I have done several signal swaps and audio swaps.

My second one is the other speaker has a popping noise. No XLR is connected.

Please help! Thanks
