In the market for about 10(pairs) ceiling speakers as am looking to install in couple of rooms in the home.

Any opinion on "JBL SP8CII 2-Way, Round 8-Inch In-Ceiling Speaker with Swivel Mount Tweeter" and recommend them?

I have a couple of pairs of them. They sound bold and solid. The woofers are titanium laminated (vs the PolyPlas I'm used to on the rest of my speakers) so the sound is more forceful rather than smooth and rich. This isn't a negative, they are just a bit "brighter" than the others.

They sounded pretty good on first on installation, but later built an enclosure, this really made them brought them to life.

I was using them as outside speakers under a deck roof and will be getting 2 more pair for a future Atmos setup.

They are on sale for $79 a pair now... great deal at this price!

https://www.jbl.com/SP8CII.html

Get a pair. 2-day free shipping and no tax from JBL. Try them out, if you don't like them, send them back.

In looking for some rear surround towers (no bookshelves due to room layout and kids), I snagged a pair of the Studio 290s that Fry's is clearing out for super cheap ('free' shipping!) as well as a pair of the Arena 180 refurbs that JBL has on sale. Between those, the Studio 530s I have paired with an Emotiva C2 center, and my Revel M16s I seem to have become a Harman believer.

I'll be demoing them in my living room 2-channel setup where a pair of blowout Jamo S809s have been holding things down. The Arena and Studio 2 lines are end-of-life but still very interested in comparing them all head to head... something like the Studio 290 for the bargain-basement price that Fry's is asking seems like a crazy good deal

The Fry's deal for the 290s fell through but the Arena 180s arrived today and, in a nutshell, I am impressed and entirely satisfied. Better than the Jamos in my space, though at this point the Jamos do seem to dig a bit deeper in the same position, and sound very, very good for the money. Big, natural sound with a pretty decent dispersion. I might just buy a second pair to use as surrounds in my home theater setup.

My speaker hoarding addiction kicked in again last night and I ended up buying the Arena 130 bookshelves. Most likely I'll use them in the garage, paired with a sub.

Yeah it's amazing how I don't hardly see any reviews of this speaker at all. Something's telling me it's a major disappointment or it's a hidden gem.

I saw that one too... he was impressed with both the JBL and Klipsch, but he felt the Klipsch was more "detailed" and the JBL was much "warmer".

I've always appreciated Klipsch but have always felt they were OVERLY bright. JBLs are universally richer and based on the model (example current 5 Series) can offer the same accuracy without being too much on the mid/tweeter end vs the Klipsch.

The klipsch he compared is twice the price of the JBL. I have the studio 5 series 590 speakers and they are way better than the klipsch Rf5 that I replaced.

Yeah I read the review but I wanted to hear from someone who actually bought the speakers instead of just having someone demo them for a while.

But it's ok because I took the leap of faith any placed my order anyway.

Well, okay then! It looks like you will be among the first to render an informed opinion when you post your experience here.

Good move, hope it all works out, and please post your impressions.
