Do c97's have the Jamo's sound "signature"??, I mean, smooth, soft highs with very strong mids and deep low, ideal for listening to rock genres even in "pure audio" modes without the need of increasing bass using tone control??

Judging by the pictures, there may have been either material or aesthetic changes to the woofer cone materials. Gen 1 is smooth and shiny. Gen 2 has a web-like pattern. Basic performance specs appear to be the same but there could be improvements to quality.

The feet on the Gen 2 are splayed, whereas the 1st gen has a flat bar across the bottom (as you noted).

The grills are quite different. The 1st gen has circular covers that go over just the speaker, leaving the rest of the front of the speaker exposed. The Gen 2 have a full length cover that's similar to the Studio line. Many Gen 1 owners want to get their hands on them, but I believe they affix magnetically and the Gen 1 doesn't have the magnets, so they'd have to be manually attached. I'd love a set, but I have the C109 and...

It appears there's no equivalent to the c109 in the Gen 2 series.

Hello Jamo fans,

Not seen any posts (a few mentions only) about these speakers here - Jamo S 628. They seem to be out of production now but I have found them on sale (last pair I'm being told). Seems to be 2013 or 2014 model!? Looking their 2013 sound catalogue, it's not mentioned there. Looks very similar to S 608 model. Not sure what is the actual difference between S 608 and S 628 (visual only or better speaker elemants/electronics?). Can't find any reviews either so are they "special" (local / EU) model or did they had such a short life that nobody really got to review them? Are Jamo a good brand? Do they last?

Is this still a good buy in 2020? ~400-500EUR category, can't compare it to USD price category.
Also, not sure about the side-firing woofer. Is this a gimmick or does it really work/help?
Not that popular solution or is this patented!?

jamo.com/products/s628
jamo.com/products/s608

It would be a possible first buy for me. Mostly for music, movies and better TV sound. First setup will be 2.0 configuration and not in a very large room. I hope they are not an overkill but for the price I hope it's a good buy. I would think they have better overall sound imaging than bookshelf C 91 II or C 93 II's in that similar price gategory!? And... bookshelfs need additional stands that adds to the end cost anyway.

Thanks.

Jamo E570 Speaker 8

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could assist me. I own a pair of E570 Tower speakers and a little while ago I had to replace the 8" driver on one of them with a 3rd party one. Now I'm on the hunt for the driver that is meant for the speaker may I ask what the part Number is for the 8" woofer for that speaker. any assistance would be great.

Has anyone tried upgrading the crossover capacitors on their Jamo speakers? Mine sound fine right now, but I am worried that the 4x c607, 2x c603 and 2x c60 cen are 12 years old. If they are using cheap Chinese electrolytic capacitors it may be prudent to change them before they start leaking.

Any input would be much appreciated.

I have not, but just curious, do such capacitors go bad over time, regardless if the speakers are being used or not?

The reason I ask is that my C607s and C603s have been sitting in storage for going on 6 years now...

They can go bad regardless of use.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum. I've been looking for the same comparisons as others in this forum. I have jamo c601, c60cen x2, c607 and c805.

The c805 is a strange model as it has the better cabinet like the c807 etc but uses the same driver as the c607s. I'm currently doing comparisons between the c805 and c607. Listening on my marantz sr5004 in pure direct mode, the c805 has better bass even though it has one less bass driver. Anyway will do more tests.

Does anyone else own c805s? Would love a pair of c807s or c809s.

I too am curious to know if the c97s sound better than the c607s. Pretty sure they use the same driver. Just wondering if the cabinet is different because it certainly makes a difference with the c805s.

Also ordered jamo c401. Has anyone heard these and the c91s? Big difference?

Jamo S809 vs. 803 5.0 Kits

Hi everyone -

I'm looking for a new budget 5.0 system and obviously Jamo fits that perfectly.

My question is, Amazon has the Jamo S803 kit for $199.99 which I think is a steal at that price. I was looking at the S809 hit which comes with (2) tower S809s instead of the bookshelfs. I could get that S809 kit for about $500 when all said and done. Is the S809 kit that much better than the S803s? I was thinking with the S809s I could get away without a sub for a while until I need one. With the S803s, I figure I would need to add one from the start.

Thoughts?

The s809 will definitely have more bass than the s803 but nothing compared to what a decent subwoofer will do.

I'd rather have the s803 kit with a $300 sub than the s809 package, especially if the setup is for home theater use.

The c607s have the same web like pattern as the c97 etc. To me they look like the same driver.

I'll need to learn how to post some pics. If anyone wanted to know, the c805 has a beefier driver than the c607. Both are the same size, just the c805 has a much bigger magnet and more bass. I'm going to swap the drivers into my c607 tower and see how I go.
The Midbass driver of the c805 has wires from the outside of the centre of the magnet to the terminals. Is this a dual voice coil? If not, what is it for. I just want to swap it into my c607 tower.

I currently have the e825 bookshelves upfront along with he matching center. How big of an upgrade for those that have heard them would the S803 be? I'd move the 825 to the rear and use the 801 as Atmos speakers. The price of 199 for the 5.0 setup would allow me to put around 800 in a sub or 2.

Isn't the C-9 the matching center for the C-91? This seller has 7 available.

Hello guys I’m in a dilemma. I have the studio s803 and matching center. I love them so much that I’m wondering if I should return them and go the concert series. Will I get more detail out of the concert series. That’s what I’m mostly concerned about is detail in voices.

I have the 803s and 809s, have heard the S83 center extensively, and also used to own C93s and a C10-CEN center. FWIW I actually enjoy the Studios more even though the Concerts are more efficient and dug deeper (the C93 put out silly bass in my room). Just something about the C10-CEN in particular that didn't quite do it for me, but you won't really go wrong either way.

Can anyone recommend the 807s for probably initially just casual stereo use? Maybe later in the year I'll get a center and the atmos toppers, but initially will use for stereo, and probably with a low end onkyo 393 receiver. Thanks for any suggestions. Other speakers around the house are old EPIs, Radio Shack 3 ways, KEF LS50s and Q150s, and Infinity R162s. In the room I plan to place these, volumes will be low to moderate (< 75db). The price and not needing stands, and ability to add atmos to later is kind of appealing to me, but I have not heard Jamo speakers before. Thanks.

LS-50s, Q150s, Marantz PM-7005, CD-5005, TT15S1 table, Schiit Modi Multibit, Mani, Parks Audio Puffin, Magnavox CDB 482, 1969 Hood Class A amp

Hey guys,

I am planning to make a 7.1.2 system with the Jamo C9 series II (the atmos speakers will be from another brand), do you think that the Denon X6400H can power the speakers? Looking to the specs of the receiver, it can output 175W in 6ohm. I see the Jamo C97 II; the power handling is 180-380w 6ohm, for example. They are not that efficient compared to like the Klipsch, but the youtube reviews I have watch mention that the sound is on par at a much lower cost.

Do you prefer the 803s or the 93s? Are there any differences? Its worth the change if the 803 are more expensives than the 93 (that actually have)?

I think it depends on what you value most but I personally kept the 803s and sold my C93s. If you want volume and bass then the 803s are good but the 93s are better. It was my personal experience that the 803s offer better imaging and fine detail but need the treble tamed a bit; the C93s just never really grabbed me. Your experience may differ in your room.

I felt an immediate improvement in those areas when switching to the S803s from the C93s, but as always you may experience different results. No harm in giving it a shot though

Hello! New Jamo owner.. I got a pair of S803's, and am wondering the best way to mount them to the wall? They do not come with any mount points.

Would it be possible to drill into the speaker back with short screws? I have a set of these:

https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_...seq=1&format=2

I see they make adjustable mounts that seem to hold the bookshelf speaker but I'd prefer not dropping more money if I didn't need to.

Thanks!

Unhappy Jamo I/O 3A2 Bracket

Hi,
I rebuilt my deck and somehow lost one of the mounting brackets, Does anyone have any old parts laying around and maybe have one of these. Klipsch/Jamo told me that I'm out of luck.
Thanks

So I got a new HCS S809 Jamo speaker 5.1 setup with the S810 sub as a gift for my dad to replace his Bose Acoustimass 10 Series V system. After everything was hooked up and some movie watching, he noticed that he'd have to turn the volume way up more than he did with the bose. The bose sounded louder and clearer at low volume. On the volume scale 0-100..he'd have it more around 40 for regular listening and 50 would be really loud. On this new system, he'd have to get it up to 70 for it to sound loud. Can anyone explain what's happening?
