I'll tell you what, I consider myself extremely fortunate. I know a lot of folks ended up losing money to these guys as they went out. Before getting much more diy capable, I had a very large deposit with them on a fully custom 7 channel setup...thousands....and it was tough, but I got every cent back. I think there are a bunch of folks running there stuff now who got a decent value and enjoy what they have, so enjoy away. I would not buy something that couldn't be repaired/sourced/replaced etc. I know that sounds funny based on the amount of diy stuff I have, but I buy enough backups of drivers, etc, JIC. The thought of having something become useless based on inability to source a single part scares the crap out of me.

Are there any recs on what type of tweeter to get to replace a dying one in the a6-6t6 tower? Would the same tweeter work as a replacement for the a6mtm center?

For eD6c, what adjustable mounts do you recommend and what locations on the back are safe to drill? I'm going to try a few on the ceiling for Atmos.

Do you already have them? I don't think they would be ideal for ceiling speakers since there dispersion pattern is narrow. I'm using them for my 4 surrounds and I want to eventually upgrade to something with wider coverage.

Yup...I've got 11 of them so have to put them to good use. I had 5 from before, but then my BIL and sis wanted to move to in-walls, so I picked up their 6 I had originally put in as surrounds and installed in-walls for them recently... The eD6c dispersion is supposed to be 90°x90° per the specs I had saved from the good'ol days...hope it was accurate. I'm going to play around with angling them to get in the general Atmos recommended setup, but I'm not 100% on committing to the format either, so the final placement will change...being that DTS will also be releasing their own version of '3D' surround this year and they do have more leverage with majority of BD releases are usually carrying DTS audio tracks over Dolby.

My plan is to put 2 as Back Surrounds and 6 on the ceiling. Already using 2 for Heights. The S8's are going to continue Wide and Side Surround duties for now...That Wide channel is doing a great job in filling in between the LR and Sides in my room...really recommend this now for any room 15' or wider.

Btw, I'm running 3 of the eD6c as LCR right now...and man these sound very good...not as 'big' as the 212s, but paired with some great subs, these will rock most HTs...really lucky to still have these speakers...I'm going to ask Jonathan to ship me his switcheroo-panel nonetheless for the sake of R&D.

Can you post a pic showing the back of yours?

Here's some pretty old pictures, let me know if you want more up close. I flipped them upside down as you can see.

Hmm, that surprises me that they are 90x90. I took a pair over to Jonathan's to compare with his Mackie's and I thought they sounded very narrow in comparison. Also, I put them up front once and didn't like what I heard but it could have all been placebo!!

You are giving me hope that I should cross off surrounds from my upgrade list!!!

That mount looks really nice and compact...does it adjust and lock with a hex key? What's the make/model of the mounts?

I noticed a difference when I plugged them in, but I played with the crossover and have them at 150Hz right now...talk about mid bass ..If someone was to walk in, they wouldn't know the 212's weren't on right away...until you switch them back and then you can def tell the diff...The 'wall' of sound is not there...just like a 'band' of sound...and that heightened clarity of the 212's is lacking, but still clear as better horns should be...The volume also has to pushed to get them to as loud as the 212's would be 10db sooner. I have them toe'd in as much as the 212s and I have a nice sweet spot in stereo as my son is watching Sesame Street songs!

Definitely keep yours and save the cash...these are great for surrounds and spending any more is really not necessary. They match up with the JTRs really well.

Here you go. Wow, they were pricey when I bought them at 39, now they are 44. Still I really like them and like you see in the pics you can angle them or turn them how you like before tightening.

Oh, and yes a hex key tightens them. They are rated for 40 pounds but seem like they could hold more.

GAHH...that price...for each?!...Yuck man...Wish that price was for a pair...but the weight support seems to justify compared to others out there...but I need to hang 8...350...hmmm...

That is a lot, there has to be a better/cheaper option out there.

Well, add me to the list.

Last summer I picked up a few of the new eD Cinema Series 6 MTM cabinets and finally got around to building the crossovers and finishing them out this week (no small thanks to Chris Seymour for assistance building the crossovers).

I also just picked up four slant surround 6 cabinets to match that I will eventually finish up. I'm really in no rush on those, though. My room isn't big enough to use them for surrounds.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get replacement drivers? I assume not, it just stinks because I would have thought eD would have a warehouse full of them after they closed.

Need drivers for my A6-6T6

I'm not going to claim to be an expert as I was pretty late to the game, but the way I interpreted all their communication at the end was that they had lots of boxes and no electronics or drivers to put in them.

The craigslist market around Iowa (where they were based) still shows a lot of cabinets available (that's what I bought).

I loaded mine with Faital Pro drivers from parts-express.com. The 6FE200 drivers sound great.

Sorry to bump this thread but I have a question. I just picked up some ED6C speakers and a center with the DE250 compression drivers. The DE250 is a revelation for classical music, and I am in love with how they image and sound.

However, these speakers have the weakest midbass I have ever heard - to the point where I am suspecting something is wrong with them. It's very thin sounding, and Audyssey wants to set the crossover at 225hz....something has go to be wrong. What is the midbass like on the ed6c speakers for other owners - am I missing something here or is it just that weak?

Could they be wired out of phase or something internally?

Thanks in advance.

Wondering if anyone who purchased back in 2007 or so are still happy with their purchase.

I've been enjoying my Eds for almost 11 years now. However, I just upgraded my Receiver to the Denon X3400H. I can't recall my old Model, but it was also a Denon without HDMI. I ran the Audyssey calibration. I'm not very happy with the sound. I even turned Audyssey off and still not happy. I'm not sure if the Lossless soundtracks are now allowing issues to be heard on these speakers, or if they just don't like my new Denon. I was a big promoter of Ed especially because of their laid back, mellow sound. I'm now not getting that, but would assume it's the Calibration or they don't play well with the new Denon.

I'm currently on a Marantz 6011 which has the same Audyssey DSX as your Denon. I just moved and re-calibrated my setup. No issues. The distances are correctly being detected. They still sound like the same neutral speakers. Good to great for movies. Good for music. By chance are you short cutting your Audyssey setup ie you have 3 seats and stop there? I noticed Audyssey really likes 6+ positions even if you don't have them. The only time I felt the sound was off was with a 3 position calibration. Also check that your speaker wires are still firmly in the speakers. I've got one front speaker that isn't a tight fit and it can get pulled out easily.

For what it's worth the same level of budget speakers these days will blow them out of the water. I'm planning to upgrade in the next year.

I recalibrated my system today. I think it now sounds much better, but I'm not a fan of the Center that much. It's always seemed like the weak link of the Elemental Design system. I would like to go with SVS Prime Towers and Ultra Center in the near future.

Ya it does the job, but nothing special. ED had pretty terrible crossovers and their tweeters aren't that amazing. You can get a lot more bang for your buck these days at the same price level as ED.

So are people out there still using eD speakers for their setup?

Back in 2008 I ordered an A5-350 with the upgraded amp, 3xA6-6T6.MTM's for L/C/R and 2xA3-5TC for surrounds. Since then I have moved and the A3's no longer worked for surrounds in the new space (no back wall), so I swapped them out for Speakercraft AIM8s, but the LCRs and sub are still in use

I've noticed I'm not getting as much clarity out of the center as I'd like (dialogue can be hard to hear, etc) and I'm wondering if it is time for an upgrade (it has been over 10 years after all and both the speakers and my ears have aged!). Everything is being driven by a Denon AVR-X4000 (the replacement for my dead Onkyo 805). Anyone have an opinion on a good upgrade path?

LG B6 65" OLED, Phillips UHD BluRay, Denon AVR-X4000, Chromecast Ultra, Roku Ultra, eD speakers and sub

I’ve got the same LCR cabinets, but I loaded them with custom components. I have 4 slant 6 cabs to match, and the components to build crossovers and load them, I just haven’t gotten around to building them out.

I love the sound, but I also didn’t use their electronics, either.

I posted above this in late 2018. I purchased a new Denon X3400H receiver and am so unhappy with the eD center speaker. It's like there are no mids to the system at all. I originally purchased as they were inexpensive, had some good reviews on here and looked good. Since then, we've learned they have poor tweeters and a really bad mid range crossover. Sounds like there are plenty of systems in the same price category today that are leaps and bounds better.

Did you ever upgrade your eDs? If so, what did you go with and what was your experience?

Anyone have a link to the sub set up, I moved my sub and want to make sure I have it set up correctly with a splitter to reduce the hum.
