just wondering if anyone has noticed the heat ?
I've had many Pioneer avr's over the years. 1014, 59txi, 94txh, 2 sc-27's, 2 sc-25's an sc-37 a vsx-23, vsx-03, vsx-24, sc-75 and a couple I'm sure I've forgotten about, and none of them ever got more then warm. I did a temperature test with the vsx-23 a while back. Put a thermometer on top of it and hooked up 8 ohm, 6 ohm and 4 ohm speakers for two hours apiece. the 8 ohms ran 95 degrees, the 6 ohms 105 and the 4 ohms 115.

An Integra 8.9 I had ran so hot in Standby I had to un-plug it when not in use.

BTW, the processing section causes at least as much heat as the amp sections, or so I've been told.

Do a processor reset. You can Google the procedure for your model.

Long time no complaints. But now my vsx is having problems. Sound level drops after a few minutes & I am constantly turning up the gain. Ready to replace. Any of you have a good suggestion? I only need 7.1 no Atmos. I do need dsd as I have a Oppo that plays super audio CD & DVD audio in 5.1
Also prefer banana plugs for speakers.
Thanks for the help

Just this last spring I upgraded my VSX-01TXH to the Marantz SR7011 and haven't looked back. Musically the Marantz is far and away better than the Pio Elite, and the only thing I've found that I really don't care for is the Direct mode and Pure Direct mode. While musically they sound superior to the Pioneer I just don't like the fact that with my Pio in Direct mode the subs would stay on, and only in Pure Direct mod would the subs turn off (I think that's how it worked?).

It's a bit more expensive than the Pio was eight or so years ago, but I felt I was long over due for an upgrade.

I think it would have all you would want in a receiver. GL! (Amazon, where I bought mine, still has some in stock - fyi)

I would agree with the other post. I also have had several Pioneer AVRs over the years. The last two had strange issues so I decided to try something else this time. After much research I settled on a Marantz SR5011. It is night and day better over my past Pioneers. The sound is incredibility better. It ticks all the boxes you spec'd and then some. I bought mine thru Safe and Sound (safeandsoundhq.com). I bought one of their factory refurbished units and saved a fair amount.

In reading the many reviews, one common complaint with all Marantz is they run super hot. Can you guys confirm? Looking at the newer models 5012, 6012, 7012

I had read that too, but then again, when shopping around for my Pio, it seemed like all ran hot. I think it's subjective, but that's just me. Now in saying that, I have my SR7011 in in an entertainment center w/ the back open and like 12" to spare above it. I also leave the front door of the ent center cracked about 1/4".

Good luck!

Question:. I have an older pioneer elite reciever vsx-01txh to be exact. The subwoofer output jack has stopped working. My sub has low and high level wiring terminals, could I just wire in the sub like in the picture I've provided, or do I need to just get the reciever worked on?

has anyone else ran 6omhs on the VSX-01TXH ? I didn't know the PBA 5T towers were 6ohm when I bought them used. I also run a 120mm or larger I forget on top of the receiver just cuz I like to run A+B speakers when having a party and the outdoor B channel speakers are 50-75ft away.

thanks
