Hi,

I have a RX-V757 and I recently purchase a LN40B650 so I have a question about connecting my RX-V757; should I connect all the video (DVD HDMI, DirectTV HD) to the tv and the take the audio output and send it to the receiver.

Thanks

I own the 657, so I think that helps me understand your needs a bit.

At minimum, you want to connect the audio to the receiver. Connecting audio to the TV then back to the receiver will likely not work.

For video, it's not clear cut because of HDMI. I think it's simplest just to explain my bedroom setup with my 657.

The DVD player is connected via HDMI to the TV, and via optical to the receiver.
The Tivo is connected via component to the receiver and optical to the receiver
The receiver is connected to the TV via component

The reason I did not hook everything up to the TV was to be able to switch both audio and video with the receiver. I would have hooked up the DVD player via component too, but HDMI is a theoretically cleaner signal.

My setup means that I have to switch inputs on the TV and the receiver. Given that this is a pain in the butt, I bought a Harmony remote to simply operation.
