Yamaha RX-Vx67 (and others) CDDA Upgrader shortcut
I followed the instructions closely from Yamaha via the 'Audio CD' route for an RX-V367. No luck. The receiver never got out of 'CDDA Upgrader'. Cut 3 CDs from 3 different programs (Windows 10 Media player, Anyburn and PowerISO), tried playing them from 2 different sources, tried optical, coax.... nothing. Each time I made sure the receiver was getting the signal by playing it in 'normal' mode (sounds like clicks and buzzing).
1) A vintage 2006 Marantz DVD player (DV9600)
2) A Sony Blu ray player (BDP-BX39)
So I decided to try to play the update .wav file directly from a USB stick (no CD) from my Oppo BDP-95. Set the Optical/Coax output to PCM, connected with an optical cable to the receiver, got the receiver in CDDA Upgrader' mode, and played the file. Whoosh. Done.
Seems so simple now that I think about it... Why add all of the variables of Audio CDs? If whatever player you have has a USB port, set the output to PCM and give it a shot.
Note that the Oppo would not recognize any of the 3 CDs that I cut, but the other players did.
I made sure the CDs were 'finalized' when burned.
