First, apologies if this is in the wrong section.

My issue is the time it takes to switch between HDMI inputs.

My components:
Samsung LNS-4696D
Onkyo TX-SR604
Motorola DCH3200 cable box
HTPC with XBMC

I output using HDMI from the cable box and HTPC into the Onkyo Receiver.
The Onkyo then outputs HDMI into the Samsung.
However, when I switch between HDMI inputs on the Onkyo receiver it takes a good 5-7 seconds before the picture/audio comes through.

I know there are inherent issues with HDMI (HDCP and all) which causes delays. But, does anyone know how I can improve the switching speed?

New receiver?
HDMI switch?
Tweak cable box?

Thanks

Use one of these on the monitor output of the receiver.

Thanks, but $180?! Yikes....

If no cheaper solution then I'll likely live with it!

Firstly..
Make sure each HDMI component has the latest firmware upgrade installed including the Samsung..
However note that Motorola and Samsung are well known brands that have poor HDMI compatibility as they have chosen to bypass the HDMI lab certification process..

Just my $0.02..
