I know, I know....that question has been asked a dozen times in multiple threads. But we all know each set-up has its own considerations. I would appreciate some help finding what best fits my needs. Here is my set-up:
Room: 15' x 20'
Projector: Panasonic PT-AE4000
Front speakers: Energy RC-10
Center: Energy RC Mini
Surround: Energy CB-5
Sub: Premier Acoustics PA-120 12"
I had a Denon AVR-2310 running the show, but either a power spike or lightning took it out. What I found was that the Denon had more bells and whistles than I really needed.
I only really need a 5.1 system. This is my third house and third home theater room. None of the rooms, including the current one, are really set up for 7.1 sound. So I think I'll always be at 5.1.
I only have two devices input into the receiver with HDMI (PS3 and a HD cable box). Realistically, I think 3 HDMI inputs would be plenty.
One HDMI output is all I need for the projector.
I do like the Audyssey MultEQ XT feature to help me set it all up.
I would like around 100W per channel.
I was getting pretty excited about a Onkyo TX-NR616. The price looked great and my first receiver was Onkyo (8 years ago). But the reviews have just really scared my with the issues people have had with Onkyo recently.
So I am fine with Denon. Never had a HK or Marantz, but would consider either with a recommendation. Not a big fan of Pioneer, but again would consider with a recommendation.
Mainly the system is used for movies and PS3 gaming, a little TV watching. Not used much for just pure music.
So what is the most current recommendation for what I need.
