^^if you have a x3500 you're in the wrong thread. you need to post in the 2018 Owners Thread, not 2013.

Sounds like you have a bad cable box though.

However, I am not experiencing this issue at all when streaming content via Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, etc. from the TV back to the AVR via eArc, so the dropouts are only occurring when I am using the cable box as the video source.

I've tried changing just about every video setting in the AVR, TV and Cable Box, but the problem still persists. I tried swapping out the HDMI cable running from the cable box to the AVR with a new dynamic view hi speed cable I recently got from Monoprice, but that didn't solve the issue either.

I'm guessing the culprit is likely a handshake issue somewhere in the cable box --> AVR --> TV chain causing these intermittent signal dropouts?

Anyone else experience anything like this and find a solution? Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks!
Can you reboot/reset the cable box?

I love this HD stuff!

It’s been a while avs, but I’m back with a question on my x4000 and directv. When watching Directv (via HDMI into my x4000), my “audio in”:shows only FR and FL input and the signal is PCM. The Audio out is fine, I can output in any format I want. So, is the x4000 only getting a stereo signal? When I check the setup through my Xbox I can receive a true 5.1 signal. I have attached a picture with the appropriate info.

I’ve checked to make sure Dolby is selected in the directv setup and I tried to reboot the box. Any ideas?

Yes, that is correct. That particular channel is only passing a 2.0 stereo signal.

Yes, but only if both sources are not HDMI.

Ensure the HDMI video and analog/digital audio source are using the same source name (eg. GAME). Then with the HDMI video source playing, select the INPUT MODE setting as either "ANALOG" or "DIGITAL" as appropriate.

Why would Denon do this? My next step is to disable ARC and try an optical input.

I called Denon tech and it appears I know more about the amp then they do.

Well it was never a Denon issue, a reset of the Sony TV fixed the problem.
Although your issue was resolved with a reset, you are misunderstanding the purpose of the <HDMI Audio Out> setting which is set to either pass audio to the surround speakers (aka "AVR") or to the TV speakers (aka "TV" and used when there are no surround speakers connected to the AVR). So the "fine print" you referred to is indicating that when using the "TV" setting, only 2CH stereo audio will be passed from the AVR to the TV's speakers.

Note also that ARC = Audio Return Channel, which only refers to passing audio from the TV (eg. Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, etc) back to the AVR.

Ok, that’s what I guessed. The question is why is the directv box only passing a stereo signal or why the receiver is receiving the signal as a stereo signal. I’m running hdmi from the directv box to the AVR.

Ok, I’m an idiot. I’m posting this because someone else might be as clueless. I blame turning 50. For whatever reason (I really can’t remember except maybe trying to bypass the avr for some reason) I had an hdmi splitter splitting the directv signal. The spitter couldn’t pass the 5.1! Boy do things sound better now!

Question Denon x1100 (messed up SETup picture + no audio)

Hello!

I've been having a problem with my old Denon x1100 lately. There is no sound output from the reciver. It works on somedays and on some it just won't output anything. Theres times when the sounds works for a while, but then I hear a "pop" and it just goes quiet with no way to bring back the sound...and it happens on any source I connect to it, HTPC, PS4, streaming music from my phone, if I watch something via the APPS (mostly plex) from the smart TV (it's an 2018 LG Oled TV). I have my sources connected directly to the TV and then the sound from the TV to the reciver. I've tried using an optical cabel and via HDMI (ARC) and the result is the same.

If I try and go into the settings menu of the reciver, the whole picture looks messed up (pictures attached). The times the sound works the menu looks fine too..

Anyone has any ideas what could be wrong? I don't mind replacing some parts, even if it requires soldering...I just have no idea what could be the problem, and atm I can't afford a new one

thans for your help!

The more common configuration is to connect the sources to the AVR and let it be the HDMI switcher.

Thank you.

It seems like the Denon x2000 can handle 1080p 120hz, but can't pass through 1440p 60hz or 4k 60hz which is too bad. Time to upgrade I guess lol.

I know, thats how I used to have it, with my old TV, but since I have a new one and the reciver doesnt support HDR, thats the only way I can connect it, to get the best picture quality and decent sound.

and that is not the issuse as I've had it connected like that for about a year and it was working without a problem, untill the problems started about a month ago

Could be an internal failure. Refer to post 5 and first do a "soft reset". If no joy, then do a few microprocessor resets in a row. If still no joy, consider upgrading to a more current model.

When it comes to using the 12v trigger feature of the Denon X4300H, I am having an issue I can't seem to figure out. I have a motorized rising projector screen that came with a 12v RF trigger adapter. I plugged it into the Trigger 1 port of the AVR and when I power on the AVR, I can see the red status light of the trigger adapter blink and the project screen starts to rise.

Now, when I turn the AVR off, the screen does not retract. I also do not see the red status light on the trigger adapter blink, like it does when the AVR is powered on.

I went to the AVR's setup and I double checked that all the options are set ON, as this was set by default. Oddly enough, if I disable ALL of the trigger options in the AVR, the AVR will still trigger the screen on.

Any ideas as to why it's triggering when powering on but not when powering off?

Wish I could help you. I owned the X4000 and had trouble with the trigger outputs the entire time. My Oppo 203 would not trigger my amps no matter what I tried. I originally bypassed the video passing thru the receiver and went directly to the TV since this receiver didn't do 4K. Doing this the amps would not turn on. Eventually gave up and turned the amps on manually. Oppo support went above and beyond and we could never figure it out. I think on this AVR series the 12v triggers were broken.

I just bought the x3600 and still need to wire this up to use the triggers but I suspect it may just work.

I don’t think that’s the case. My x4000 has been outputting it’s 12v trigger for years. Just make sure you use a mono cable.

Since a while , Spotify connect is now free, not premium anymore...

Is this also possible on the avr-x4000 series?
2 years ago we received an update for Spotify connect?
Do we need again a new update?

Nope, only possible on the newer "H" series models. You would need to add a HEOS Link for the same feature.

No signal on new 4K TV, but only for some devices

This is probably obvious, but I'm having trouble figuring it out.

I have a Denon AVR-X2000. For a long time I have been running a PS4, AppleTV (1080P version), and a BluRay player through the AVR to my old Samsung 1080P TV. My girlfriend bought a cheap 55" LG 4K TV from CostCo (55UM73) and then shortly after moved to a place where she didn't need it. So I figured I would just plug into my system.

When I set it up, my AppleTV works no problem, I get signal to the TV. But the TV gets neither video or audio from the PS4 or the Sony BluRay player. It just shows a black screen. I know that I'm on the right inputs. I have swapped out cables from the AppleTV, and tried changing which inputs the HDMI cables are going into on the AVR, and still nothing. If I plug the BluRay player directly into the TV it works fine.

It doesn't seem like it's a 4K pass through problem because these are only 1080P video sources. But I can't think of what else would cause this. Could it be the HDMI cables themselves? But why would they work directly with the TV and not going through the AVR-X2000?

Any thoughts on what's going on are deeply appreciated.

These models don't really handle 4K. Not sure why 1080p won't work though. In any case, you need to plug all your HDMI sources into the TV, then use ARC or optical from the TV to get audio to your Denon. Audio source in that case is called "TV Audio". That's what I had to do when I got a 4K TV.

I was afraid that would be the solution. I can do that, I just prefer everything to got through the AVR.

I think what especially baffles me is that one of my 1080P sources works fine, but the others don't.

Any thoughts on what's going on are deeply appreciated.
Possibly an HDCP issue which was upgraded to version 2.2 in 2015.

I have a LG 55C8 OLED => ARC (HDMI 2) => Denon X2000 => Monitor Audio RS6 (2.0). I prefer using the LG TV as the hub, it quickly switches between sources, the "Magic" remote with cursor works well (don't use the voice commands). No issues with ARC, but it's only 2.0, not Atmos set up. The X2000 has been used for several hours daily for 6+ years, no problems (besides the extended Pandora outages due to Denon not updating firmware promptly).

@Jsquid : Maybe try Certified Premium HDMI cables? https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-115.../dp/B01GCGKI3O

I think you are right. I'm getting the menu to play on my AppleTV, but once I try to play content from Netflix or Hulu, I just get a perpetual black loading screen. It's been so long since I changed anything in my set up that the last time I saw an HDCP issue the screen would flash back and forth as though constantly trying to connect to the source. So I didn't recognize it as the problem.

Sounds like a sweet setup Gandu. I am coveting the OLED TVs. Saving some money and hoping to get a C9 when the prices drop a bit more. Finding the blacks on this cheaper TV to be frustrating, dimly lit scenes look very muddy even in a dark room.

I ordered that HDMI cable, just in case it fixes the problem, but I will probably end up adopting your solution. I agree about the X2000, it has been great for my needs and up until now I haven't had any problems.

Unless you can send it via Bluetooth, you would need to purchase a HEOS Link in order to use the HEOS iOS/Android app, otherwise, another 3rd party device must be used.
