Greetings folks,
I'm thrilled to have just gotten a GoldenEar Triton Two system with a Supersat 60C for the center and Supersat 50s for the surrounds.

I want to break them in by running music through all the speakers, a la my former Integra amps "All Channel Stereo" surround mode. I don't normally listen to music that way, but it would be a great way to exercise all speakers for break in.

Problem is, I cannot find such a mode on my Denon AVR-X4000! I wanted to reach out to the forums to see if I'm just missing something (that should be but isn't) obvious.

Thanks in advance folks.

Yummy!

I had Denon 3313 and I was unable to find All Channel Stereo initially. The manual said to keep the Music button on remote depressed for 3 seconds to pop open a list of all music formats on the OSD. I think x4000 should function the same way.

Press/hold either the MOVIE or MUSIC button on your X4000 remote. Also note there is a dedicated thread just for Denon AVR-E/X Owners .....

Thanks Braveheart123, that did the trick! Just hold down the "Music" Surround Mode button on the remote and viola, the mode selection appears on the Monitor out and on the AVR display. So funny that searching for "surround mode" turns up zero hits in the User Manual PDF file. Denon uses the term "sound mode," and now I see it on pg 112-113.

And thanks jdsmoothie, I did find the owners forum but it had pages and pages of posts and my search didn't turn up anything. I was searching for "all channel stereo" though, and I bet I would have found it there if I had searched for "surround modes" or "sound modes". I'm going to go search there now and if I don't find anything on the topic, I'll post this to share it on the owners forum for the benefit of others.

Thanks again, my GoldenEars are all breaking in now, and boy do they sound niiiiiice already, and will only get sweeter with time cool.gif

Although originally referred to as "5/7 CH Stereo" mode, Denon changed it to "Multi CH Stereo" mode beginning with the XX11 series.

IIRC it produces surround sound from a stereo source.

Yamaha A-S1000 Int. Amp - Polk LSiM705's - Denon DCD-1500 - Marantz TT42 - Emo XDA-2 DAC - (WWG1WGA)
Multi-Channel: Yamaha RX-A2070 - Polk LSiM706c Center - Emo ERD-1 Surrounds

Oh you know what, DOH!!! I just realized I'm not in front of my X4000, I'm in front of my (crappy) Pioneer 1091. Sorry about that!

3 channel stereo AVR X4000

I was hoping I could find a way to do 5 channel stereo and then turn the rears way down, for my music sources. I have a perfectly matched center speaker that would fit in nicely. Any ideas how to set that up? I tried to see if I could do speaker volume separately for different inputs. No luck, It seems to effect all inputs.

Can you not go into speaker settings and set surround speakers to 'None'?

Wouldn't that carry over to all sources and surround modes?

Yes the surround speakers will be missing from everything so you would need to re-enable them for movies.

Just going through the sound modes on my Onkyo and there is one called 'Theater-Dimensional', shows as 'T-D' on the front panel and the output is 3.1. I don't know if this is an Onkyo only mode, but maybe the Denon has something similar.
