I recently upgraded my system from a really old Sony AV rec. with a new Yamaha rx-v575
than I came across a really good deal on a Sony 1040 av rec.
They both have good reviews but before I go thu the trouble of takeing the Yamaha back
and getting the sony I'd like to know what the members here think of either brand.
They are driving a pair of Klipsch KG-5.5, center Klipsch KV-2
2 KW-10 Klipsch subs and some energy shelf size speakers for the rear channels.
Any advice?

The Sony STDN1040 is plagued w/ an HDMI handshaking issue. Several forums show users (including myself) running into this problem and most have to bring the unit back. The 20-minute firmware update does not help. Given the time it takes to install, configure, personalize- do not purchase this unit unless you thrive in the electronics-troubleshooting environment.
This unit had Bluetooth connectivity that was not offered by other units in similar price range, but it turned out that its use was very limited and not worth choosing this model over other trusted brands.
