X2100w headphone amp impedance

Where can I find info on the headphone amp impedance of the Denon x2100w? This detail is not provided in the specs. Would it be useful to buy a headphone that has the same impedance level as the amp?

The majority of stereo headphones available today are low impedance and will work fine...
However some of the earlier Synheiser headphones were high impedance and do not work well with present AVRs..

Just my $0.02...

Thanks for the info.
Can you advise a range of low impedance compatible? Under 300 ohm is ok? Or is it too high?

<300 Ohm U should be fine..
The brands we prefer are AKG, AudioTechnica, Grado, note that comfort is also important as they can feel different.

How to enable true 5.1? Denon AVR X2100W

I feel really stupid asking this, but I need to know, lol. For a little less than two years i've been running a 4.2 setup, (front right and left, rear right and left and two 12" subs). The way i've been running my audio was just to put my receiver in "All Zone Stereo".

Now I have finally purchased my center and am running a 5.2, I was wondering if my way of all zone stereo is the way I should go about it or is there a way to make my 5.1 content play without all zone?

When I have All Zone turned off, it only uses the front 3 speakers and subs. When watching lets say Netflix with a 5.1 show it still only uses the front 3.

The only time to use "ALL ZONE STEREO" is when you actually are using a Zone 2. Once you have run Audyssey again to configure the center speaker into your setup, you would simply select the MOVIE button on the remote and select either Dolby Digital or DTS for surround audio.

Also note that the X2100W is discussed in the 2014 Denon AVR Owner's thread linked below.

That helps a lot! When selecting movie as an option i get

Stereo
Dolby PLII Cinema
DTS Neo:6 Cinema
Multi Ch Stereo
Mono Movie
Virtual

Now the only one that enables all the speakers is Multi Ch Stereo.

I would pick Stereo but I don't think it matters which one you select - if the receiver detects 5.1 it should automatically play 5.1.

By any chance, are your Surround speakers hooked up to the Rear Surround binding posts instead of the Surround binding posts?

Did you run Audyssey? The "rear" speakers should be connected to the "SURROUND" speaker posts, not the "SURROUND BACK" speaker posts if you only have a 5.1 setup. The SURROUND BACK speaker posts are only used if you have a 6.1 or 7.1 setup.

The rears are connected to the "surround" posts, not the surround rear. Yes, I did run Audyssey

Either the Dolby or DTS mode should also enable the "Surround" speakers when a 2CH source is being received, while they should also be enabled when a DD/DTS 5.1 audio signal is being received.

I believe I have it figured out! The LR Front and Backs weren't as loud as they used to be. But they are playing audio.

Right, because now they are playing only the surround ambience instead of the full left or right content.

What about the sound mode? Does it automatically select CINEMA mode or MUSIC mode when 5.1 signal comes thru?

If I listen to cd in STEREO/MUSIC mode and then I switch to bluray then I see the DOLBY shows up automatically. But the mode doesn't switch to CINEMA on its own. I think sound mode should be associated with a signal type rather than input source.

And how would the receiver know?

If source is DOLBY 5.1 then sound mode should switch to CINEMA.
If source is STEREO then it has to be music so should switch to MUSIC.

There are plenty of non-HD TV shows in PCM 2.0 so STEREO doesn't necessarily mean music.

It is my understanding that it works the other way around:

• The MOVIE, MUSIC, or GAME button memorizes the last sound mode selected for
its button. Pressing MOVIE, MUSIC, or GAME recalls the same sound mode as the
one selected at the previous playback.

• If the content played back does not support the previously selected sound mode,
the most appropriate sound mode for the content is automatically selected.

In other words, "MOVIE" can remember "Dolby" while "MUSIC" might remember "Stereo." Not Dolby or Stereo memorizing Music or Movie.

1. AFAIK, you'll need to either purchase the original remote (RC-1196) or you can also purchase a Harmony universal remote which would likely control all of your components to include the S500BT. The OEM remote can be purchased for < $20 on eBay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Denon-RC-119...3D112232213922

2. iPhone wired connection to the S500BT is not supported.

Also note the S500BT is discussed in the 2014 Denon AVR Owner's thread linked below ...

You download the settings from the Logitech (Harmony) data base for the particular devices you're trying to control via IR.

Problem with Denon AVR-X2100W after update

Hi
Yesterday my Denon AVR-X2100W showed me notification about software update. I allowed the update. After updating the software version is 3600-3161-6661 and there is a problem with the web interface and device control from the phone application if the device is in standby mode (it is connected with LAN by cable). In standby it responds for pings. In Settings, IP Control is set to Always. There is any solution for that? Is it possible to restore the previous software from firmware denon eu according to the instructions on the page (version 3600-0161-6640 available there)?
