Thanks I like the XLR because there's less hum..
And I have my old legacy SR 12 with thx capable amps inside which can power seven channels
Will use the Pm 11 S3 for the fronts and a rotel for the surrounds.
Or just get the sr 7009 if the price differential is a lot...

I would rather get the Parasound A31, I am not a big fan of E! To say the least.

The Parasound A31 is a great amp for sure but it cost 4 times the XPA-3. I have a Marantz SR7008 + Parasound P5 combo both sharing a Emotiva XPA-3 and sounds great!!

Yes I tried the Yamaha 3040 and Pioneer SC-79 returned both. I would have kept the Yamaha if they had Audyssey XT 32 and were able to do wide channels. I like 9.2.2

I bought an Emotiva amp once and the smell was so nasty I had to return it! I will never buy an Emotiva again

Their attitude was that there must be something wrong with my sense of smell

Maybe you got a faulty unit. My XPA-3 has been working great for almost 5 years. I bought an XPA-200 four months ago and sounds great too. No nasty smell in both units.

Custom 2CH stereo settings

A new feature being introduced on the SR7009 and AV7702/AV8802 is custom 2 CH STEREO settings (LARGE/SMALL; crossover settings, sub – on/off, distance, level). This feature has been offered on Denon models in the past although was relegated to only a dedicated set of Front B FL/FR speakers as of 2 years ago. This year, the feature can be used on the main Front A speakers on the Marantz and Denon models as well (starting with the X4100W).

Thanks JD
But to quote the great Charleston Heston in True Lies: "somehow, this isn't blowing my skirt up"

I wish they brought back a 8009 with better amps or something like that...

Or how about a Reference Series Av amp like my old SR 12...

So I assume in order to have DS as a choice one has to install speakers for ATMOS?

I can't find it in the menu!

It's not in "a" menu, it should be listed in multiple menus. In particular, the manual shows it in the menus Movie, Music and Game, which are invoked by those buttons on the remote. See page 143 of the owner's manual.

Not at all. As Dolby Surround replaces all former DD PLII up mixing modes, you can use Dolby Surround with any configuration of more than 2 speakers with a stereo 2.0/2.1 signal and with more than 5 speakers (except Front Wides) with a 5.1 signal and with more than 7 speakers with a 7.1 signal.

Hmm. I just realized that this suggests that the option might not appear if you have a 5.1 speaker arrangement and are listening to a 5.1 source, since in that case all of the speakers already are in use. Could that be right?

If so, try playing a standard CD. Since that has only 2 channels, Dolby Surround certainly should appear in the menu.

FWIW, I'd expect the situation to be the same on the X5200; I haven't received my 7009 yet so I can't verify my guess.

Mine arrived last night.

I was to exited, and my noisy daughter was hovering, so I couldn't shoot an unboxing video, but grabbed some stills.

I have yet to hook it up.

The first thing noticed it's the light build (about 30 pounds) and short depth as compared my 60+ pound Onkyo TX-NR905.

Question - does the Bluetooth support bidirectional communication?

The reason I ask is I have a pair of Bluetooth headphones that are used to listen to television/movies while on the treadmill.
