Anyone elses Denon App appear like this? My 4100 is MIA, and not able to controll it via my tablet or smartphone. My 4100 use to show up under devices, typing in it ip address does nothing either!

anyone facing problem streaming spotify from phone to denon x7200wa?
I was rearranging my setups and unplugged the power while doing so.
it was working fine before and my phone is unable to find denon.
I have ran network diagnostic and it had 3 ticks. also able to run online radio.

Not sure if you are running on an Apple device, and it's been a bit since I gave up trying to get it to run with my X7200wa, but yeah mine does not show up either (on the app called Denon 2016 AVR Remote). My recollection is that there was no way to input the ip address either. Probably should try it again to see if anything's changed.

(On the other hand the older Denon Remote app was still working with it, although it took a while to get all initialized and running. Also the DeRemote app worked last I checked.)

I have used my remote app a few times this spring on my 5200 and it is fine... including checking it right now. Using a Samsung Galaxy S7..If it continues to act up .... do the reboot thing ... phone, and unplug the receiver and plug back in. Occasionally in the past my remote would stop controlling the receiver properly and a simple unplug of receiver for 10 seconds always has cured it...In addition, there was one time a couple years ago though, in which a reboot of my router was needed to fix a total lack on networking music capability on the 5200.

I want to use minidsp ddrc88a as the external room calibration. so I was thinking can I use the output from avr to minidsp, minidsp back into the 7.1 multichannel inputs in the avr to use its internal amp so I do not need to purchase external power amp.

is it possible? is there any effect to the avr setting?

So then, you're referring to using the X7200W as it is the only model in this thread that features multi analog inputs. However, not possible, as you can only select one source input at a time.

For my setup, I have tv audio sent to my avr by optical cable. (Don't use it all that often, but it works when I do.)

(I also have hdmi cables to the tv from the receiver and one other device (directv).)

Try setting HDMI-CEC on your Medial Player to OFF, otherwise there shoud be no reason to have to unplug it as the audio should be passing over the HDMI cable connecting the AVR (ARC) to the TV (ARC).

Optical will not pass DD+ which is what Neflix uses to pass non-HD Atmos.

Just for the record, in my case I'd really be surprised if my tv supported dd+ playback, so optical is fine for me. Rokus take care of that stuff for me anyway.

It's been mentioned that someone performed a factory? RESET? of their x7200w and it took their firmware back to the stock factory version before the 3/25/15 update and (more importantly to me) 1/28/2016 DTS:X + Neural X patch. Which should have restored NEO X as quite possibly the best surround mode for wide speakers on legacy content! :P
Can anyone confirm this is how it works or just re-iterate that it is HOW it should work^^^
...
If instead it can be done by feeding it that very first firmware on 3/25/15 and someone has a copy of it PLEASE HELP!

I realized I might need old firmwares when I first started reading this forum in December 2017 and downloaded 2 versions of x7200w and x7200wa + 1 each of x5200w and x4100w since then. If anyone needs them they are labeled as follows
DEVICE_AVR-X4100W_USB_Update_10_23_15_New
DEVICE_AVR-X5200W_USB_Update_10_05_17
DEVICE_AVR-X7200W_USB_Update_10_05_17
DEVICE_AVR-X7200W_USB_Update_10_12_18
DEVICE_AVR-X7200WA_USB_Update_02_25_18
DEVICE_AVR-X7200WA_USB_Updates_10_12_18

I can't see myself spending $800+ dollars on something and not knowing wither it'll have the option of doing it all in one box. Every time I unplug those banana jacks and plug it into my ONKYO NR-929 I'll increase the risk of blowing either one's amps.
Like I said even if you can tell me that is how the RESETS work in regards to firmware management (and it's not just reprinting a fresh copy of the firmware it currently has installed) you would give me great peace of mind
Thank you so much for reading!
~Michael Arnold aka Jazz

I've read over 300 pages on this forum under the official threads of potential future purchases. 2013 mostly... Did own an x4000 for awhile.
Now I'm pretty committed to the x7200w so 2014 thread you're going down next.
~If I ask a question trust that I'm trying my darnedest! PLEASE HELP!

Although neither a microprocessor nor network reset will restore the AVR to its original factory firmware version, the 2016 and newer upper level models are able to effect this change with the following procedure:

Press the "SETUP" and "DIMMER" buttons on the front panel and then press the ON/STANDBY button on the front panel. This procedure will take 15 minutes to restore to the original factory firmware.

I don't know whether this same procedure will work on the X7200W or not so if you do try it and it works, please post back so I can add it to the list of updates in post 4 of this thread.

Hello! This is my first post here =)

I'm looking to buy a HT-amp to add a center speaker to my 2.0 system to enhance the TV-sound further.

I'm planning to use my stereo amp (Hegel Röst) to drive the front channels, and possibly a X5200W to drive the center and manage all the HDMIs and such. Ive a friend selling a used X5200W for 6000$, is this a fair price? Should i look to get a new one, like X3500H instead? As far as I can tell the X5200W does not give me HDR-support, or is this possible via firmware update? Im using a samsung q7 (2017) and apple tv4k to watch most of my content, and thats mostly netflix 4k and itunes rented movies.

Thanks for any reply and advice!

I have had my X5200 for several years now, and I use a Krell power amp to drive the front L/R channels. I'm running a 4.0 system, so the 5200 drives the surround L/R speakers. I also use a PS Audio Stellar Gain pre-amp/DAC. I use the home theater bypass feature of the PS Audio unit. That way, I can listen to my multi-channel SACD and DVD-Audio titles. When/if I get a center speaker, I will likely use the 5200 to drive it.

The 5200 was the next to top AVR of that year and was made in Japan. I find the audio quality to be excellent, and I'm not sure if one of these newer 22 pound AVRs is going to sound as good. I can tell you for sure that $6000 is NOT a good price for a 5200! But I assume you mean $600, and I'm not sure about that price. Some others here can probably tell you.

As to 4K content, all of mine is UHD Blu-ray discs via my Oppo UDP-203. Now, the 203 has two HDMI outputs, so I connect one of them directly to my Sony 4K TV. I do not believe the 5200 is going to receive any update for HDR.

I'm very thankful for your reply!

Correct, I intended to write 600$.

I'm also guessing the audio quality of such a high-level amp would be great for 600 bucks, but I'm unsure how important HDR is to me, my knowledge on the subject is limited, i barley know if I'm watching any such content. I kno my samsung don't support Dolby Vision but HDR+..?

Is it a bad idea to connect my Apple TV, Playstation etc directly to the TVs HDMI and then run a toslink from TV to the X5200W?

Of course I suspect that x7200wa has been off to the factory and the new stock firmware is something besides the version just before DTSX was released and some kind of auro3d thing but did you see JDSmoothie's suggestion? Would you possibly try this for me before I buy mine? It probably won't do anything at all but it's the best I've got right now.
I've started a thread hoping someone already has a firmware archive going of different models and access to people who would have such things in the first place!
Does anyone know?

I've read over 300 pages on this forum under the official threads of potential future purchases. 2013 mostly... Did own an x4000 for awhile.
Now I'm pretty committed to the x7200w so 2014 thread you're going down next.
~If I ask a question trust that I'm trying my darnedest! PLEASE HELP!

Karaoke with X4100W?

I have been using my X4100W in a 5.1.2 HT setup for several years now and very happy with it.

Now my son wants to use it for karaoke (he went to a friend’s party where they used an av receiver as the main engine for the karaoke). The idea would be to stream karaoke videos from YouTube or whatever through Roku to the receiver and add the voice with a mic plugged on the receiver. Is this possible at all? If not, any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Unfortunately the receiver is not a "mixer", you can't combine audio from two different inputs. You can take audio from one input and mix it with video from another input using the "Video Select" function but that's probably not want you want: http://manuals.denon.com/AVRX4100W/E...SYkmuuscat.php

You obviously don’t need the extra power the X5200 (140watts) would have over the X3500H (105 watts). The X3500H has all the latest processing including eArc. It would provide you some future proofing over the X5200W. No HDR or Dolby Vision would be a deal breaker for me on the X5200W.

Thank you. I'm leaning towards that actually..

Hi! Maybe this is not what you want but you could just use an Apple TV with any kareoke-app, or a playstation is also possible with singstar. It supports alot of players at the same time just using their phones as microphones.
