Onkyo TX-NR3030

Is there a US release date for this yet that anybody is aware of? I've been watching Amazon, which has consistently been saying available in 1-3 months. Today, that has now changed to temporarily out of stock. I'm assuming that means they already got the first batch in and sent them out? Just wondering if anybody can confirm. Thanks!

howieumd 09-29-2014 05:54 AM

Does anybody in the US have this yet or have any updates on when it's available? It seems to be delayed, but can't find any details. My order on Amazon has said "preparing to ship" for about a week now.

So you pre-ordered one? Locally they are saying 2-3 weeks.

In Holland a forum member just got his Integra 70.6 ( pretty much the same as a 3030)

jdsmoothie 11-14-2014 09:45 AM

Both the NR1030 and NR3030 have been available in the USA for a few weeks now. :)

Figures, release dates are quite often delayed for Canada, in my case the HT is not ready yet so I can wait.

JD, just to confirm, a unit bought from you in the USA does not have warranty in Canada correct? (Denon or Onkyo)

Thanks

jdsmoothie 11-14-2014 01:54 PM

Correct. The unit would have to be shipped back to USA for repair.

zimmo 11-14-2014 02:39 PM

Indeed, i am the one with the Integra DTR 70.6 and am willing to know if Onkyo has the same Q-setup menu "problem" i find in the 70.6 explained here:

Hi, did some testing with the Q-setup menu on the new Integra DTR 70.6, and this will be the same for the Integra PRE 80.6 and some Onkyo models like the 30xx series.
I can change and store almost everything exept the most important one, AUDIO !

On every source independent i can change and store Picture modes, i can change and store Listening modes (and all independent of the settings in the main menu !), i can change Bass, Treble, Center volume, AccuEQ, PM bass, but can not STORE this on every source independent !!
The changes i make in the AUDIO part will be activated in all the sources

I want a different audio setting for BD, NET and CBL/STB.
For NET i want to use less bass so i want the bass setting on -4 and treble on +2, for BD i want the bass on 0 and PM bass active, and for CBL/STB i want bass 0, treble 0 and no PM bass.

But this is not possible now as i need to remember the settings (i have a note with the setting, and its 2014 ) as the setting will not be stored.
I thought maybe AccuEQ is restrickting the bass en treble settings when AccuEQ is ON, but its not, AccuEQ OFF and still no independent Audio changes per source.

And all this on a top of the line receiver around the $3000 point.........:(

And where is the manual EQ all the previous Onkyo's and Integra's had ?

zimmo 12-28-2014 07:04 AM

I receive my onkyo tx-nr3030,is very good and most strong and classic music is very nice.

ClemsonJeeper 01-20-2015 07:11 AM

Anyone who owns one of these care to comment on the lack of audessy?

I'm torn as I want to do 7.2.4, and this would be a good one box solution, but I do love me some Audessy......

My other option is the marantz SR7009 with a 2 channel amp....

I had a kind of receivers with Audyssey and now for the first time with AccuEQ, to me i can not detect any differents compared to Audyssey XT32, but i never liked Audyssey a lot, think that also makes me like AccuEQ.
For me its doing a good job and leaving the fronts the way they are, i do not use a subwoofer !

hi,

Did you experience your great TX-NR3030 ?

Could you please share your experience here.

I bought it yesterday but without speakers. I have to buy speakers this week so I appreciate if you can suggest me which speakers should I get?

Thanks.
Sam

^^ Welcome to the forum, but 2 posts asking the exact same question? Your duplication can be avoided by using a 'multi-quote' or simply posting your question.

BTW, recommendations for speakers would be better suited to the section of the forum that deals with speakers, an I suggest that you mention things like budget, space, type of use etcetera. There are dozens of choice, no specifically right or wrong but be prepared for a flood of personal favorites! :)

Personally I like Klipsch, I have a complete set to install Atmos/DTS-X and I am just planning the room now,

Good luck!

zimmo 02-23-2015 06:01 AM

after a fews weeks whit my onkyo tx-nr3030.i must tell you that this receiver av is amazing both in music and home theater.despite the dénigration of those who say that the calibration system ACCUEQ is not good,(particulary those whit not)this system is very good it was designed expressly whit collaboration whit DOLBY LABS.
Currently,i have a 7.5.4 system ,5 speakers montor 9 ,1 center cc390,4 in ceilling seakers Yamaha ns-ic800,4 subs ikon 500 watts each and système buttkicker lfe.
Onkyo this year added finesse to the receiver av there being more musical.i highly recommand ,i tried my old bluray disks in dolby surround and i ham amazing sound My home teather room have 11x20x8 and listering room to 10 feets ,they in ceilling speakers is 30 degrees forward and 30 degrees after and 6 feets bet ween each speakers .

butsu 02-23-2015 06:28 AM

Agreed,Onkyo3030 is the beast, best sounding both movies and music. The heat problem was gone since 3010,5010 model.I own it for 2 months and never has issues,:)

SteveTheGeek 02-23-2015 06:32 AM

I have the little brother of the 3030, the 1030 and I'm also very satisfied with the performance. I also concur, no heat problem on the receiver either.

ultrahidef 02-23-2015 06:41 AM

Even more satisfied that I replaced JBL speakers with Martin Logan. Only gripe is doesn't include AirPlay out of box.

krazyscotsman 02-23-2015 03:15 PM

I have the 3030 since early November 2014. This is amazing receiver. IMO this is the best receiver (amplified) on the market. I'm runnig HSU speakers and subs. Amazing hardware. I have it setup in a 7.2.4 configuration. The only two things I would change / like to see would be 7.2.6 (the additional 2 speakers I think would open up the sound stage more). And I would like for it to be upgradeable to DTS X via firmware. I'm hoping the later happens; but would actually be surprised if it gets the upgrade.

Great feedback, I had my eye on the 3030 since it was released, love the fact it has 11 amplifiers too. DTS-X and 3 pairs of overhead speakers would be awesome!

I would have already bought it if my room was ready, but I am months away yet... :(

zimmo 03-02-2015 06:10 AM

For those who Wonder what speakers that go whit products onkyo,i would say more products but i recommend the paradigm and the klipsch .

For speakers in ceilling i have ns-ic 800 whit directional twitter which is 30 degree to mt position.

I just got my 3030 up and running and am a bit confused... how do I know when Dolby DSU is active and how do I select it? It seems I can select Neo:X but don't see a way to enable DSU.

It's called Dolby Surround on the receiver, with the Movie Mode (or Mode Movie) button.

Just to add-on to Steve's explanation, I too was initially confused. DSU is the acronym for Dolby Surround Upmix. And Steve is correct in that on Onkyo units, it is found by selecting Dolby Surround under Movie/TV under Listening Modes. What is puzzling to me is that the term/acronym "DSU" is nowhere to be found on the AVR display or in Onkyo's documentation. I would be curious to know when/where the term was coined...maybe another AVR manufacturer....Denon...or maybe by a writer?

Dolby themselves use the term in the Dolby Atmos for the Home - Lab Notes paper .....

The Dolby surround upmixer allows you, if you wish, to play channel-based content while
making full use of your Dolby Atmos home theater, including the ceiling or Dolby Atmos
enabled speakers.

cdelena 04-07-2015 07:34 AM

Thanks for the feedback... After a bit of use it made sense to just set playback mode to Dolby and it uses all speakers available in the DSU mode. It is just different from my last receiver where I had to select IIx in order to use all speakers.

There are some tiny little indicators on the display that indicate something but I have yet to find an explanation of what they mean.

Thanks JD. Of the many sound processing choices available, I'm guessing no one really anticipated that DSU would be so well received. Adding to that, some manufacturers didn't specifically name it Digital Surround Upmix(er) but only Digital Surround. At the very least, for me initially, it was not intuitive to find among the feature choices, Never the less, count me in the "really great feature" camp!

Dolby Surround has replaced DD PLII, DD PLIIx, and DD PLIIz.
